MCU Odin defeated Surtur at his full might, stripped him of the eternal flame and left him in a weakened, battering and limping state

Odin incapacitated Surtur, ripped the eternal flame from his head and stored it in a big breakfeast ball looking thing inside Asgard's vault.

As a result of his battle with Odin, Surtur was reduced to a much smaller size, had one of his arms ripped of his body and was left crippled and severely wounded.

The wounds inflicted on Surtur were so great, were so great, that he was still trying to shrugg them off five thousand years later.

The 2nd image is a concept art for Thor Ragnarok that provides us a better look at the state which Surtur was left.

This didn't really make much sense considering Thor spent the rest of the movie getting his ass handed to him by Hela, whom was soundly beaten by Surtur.

Why it doesn't? Odin beat Hela too and twice in canon, I made a post about it too.

Oh, wow, he did? Where I can watch movie scene of him doing that?

Yes, he did, there isn't a scene of him doing it, but it happened, we learn it by Thor at the beginning of Ragnarok, as that is the reason the eternal flame was locked within Asgard's vault, as Hela later used it to ressurect her undead army, also, the guidebook for Thor Ragnarok recognizes the Surtur Odin defeated as Eternal Flame Surtur.

I love the movie but Thor says he thought Odin killed him. That us all we got.

Right... So no scene showing what was described above, only our imagination.

More reasons why this movie sucks ass. It doesn't show you and it barely tells you

Because it was meant to be not shown. It's how subjective POV works, where you show only the information the characters know.

That's not what was in Ragnajoke. It was just Waiti being lazy and telling (badly) instead of showing.

I don't think it was important to do either really. I thought it was a great fun movie that helped bring fans back when most thought DW was a bore.
