💬 ምይይጥ/discussions What do people intend the future of Tigray to be

I wanted to get a conversation of what other people thought of when they think of the future for tigray. With Ethiopia not being a nation but a multinational federation, do you believe it is even possible to run this country with it not being an authoritarian nation. Do you believe that even if Tigray did leave Ethiopia, would you believe that the Ethiopian government would then proceed to the try to fight Tigray again. Let's say hypothetically that Tigray left, then the Ethiopian government built a military, then they want Eritrea all over again, then what? Eritrea might even outright just try to fight us again thinking the Ethiopian government is on there side and then realise after the war that now Ethiopia wants to fight them. What is the plan for us if we win the war, do Ethiopians desire to just have a nation or what?

Eritrea won't turn on the TPLF. Abiy wants Asseb and has committed to it. I think Asseb was his goal from the start to be honest. He wants to go through your territory to get to us. I think everyone will be evaluating their relations with each other over the next few months/years.

That is not guaranteed, PIA has fought two wars against the TPLF and nothing has ever come out PIA's mouth regarding Tsimdo ever. To me, it seems as though it is a trap to keep Ethiopia strong (as that is what PIA has always wanted) and that requires the TPLF to stop existing. It's just quite sad to see that there's this continual war between the Tigrigna speaking people on both sides of the border. As long as the artificial border created by Italy and Menelik continue to exist I feel as though this issue amongst Tigrayans is far from over.

Oh no, I don't expect this alliance to last at all. But I'm glad that Tigrinya speakers are working together. It's a shame that there won't be a reconciliation process and that this peace is only temporary.

Well, it's definitely a start but without addressing the past it will be futile. Of course now there are divisions within Tigray itself that need to be addressed as well.

It should be clear by now that the oromo-pp won't allow tigray or any state to leave. The goal is to own all of ethiopia as a dominant group, degrading individual rights of other ethnic groups. You've seen this in amhara amhara now they are coming for tigray afar and eritrea. It almost seems hypocritical considering people like jawar using rhetoric of Oromo first to now oromo-ethiopian.

Yea I mean we are separated by borders so I see what you mean and I do agree that there needs to be some type of decision almost nationwide across Ethiopia of what it desires to do since it's clear that this multinational federation with the ethnic borders has constantly resulted in warfare especially with the disputed territories. I believe we rather need to figure out if we want to pursue an Ethiopia that isn't based on ethnic federalism or just say we want ethnic federalism and if we do, then it's best to secede as a nation because it is inevitably going to lead into warfare. On top of the fact that guns and weapons spread across Ethiopia and Sudan regularly from foreign powers which only exacerbate the issue. I think those are our options and I also wonder, if we do secede, what's to say that Eritrea won't be desired by Ethiopia again, thereby needing to go through Tigray and start the war in Tigray all over again. I think a national discussion of what we expect the future of Ethiopia should be had.

Abiy is 100% going to Eritrea if he defeats the TPLF. The question is now when, not if.

I agree with you and I also feel bad for the TPLF having an ally so unintelligent like the Eritreans. They literally fought the tplf and did the so much against tigrayans all to realise that Abiy always wanted the assab port. I think if Tigray leaves Ethiopia, Eritrea might just fight the tplf all over again just like they did with abiy but instead a new Ethiopian leader and this will just be a repeat. It sucks but that's the reality when your ally is genuinely stupid.

Getachew reda himself said that he was offered in 2020 to join PP to take Eritrea and the TPLF said no.
