miscellaneous Tropes that became problematic

The Persistent Suitor: A guy who is after the girl and just wont take no for an answer. Nowadays we just call stalking and harassment, but it used to be romantic. Example: The Notebook (2004), Noah asks Allie out while she's on a date with another man. She refuses, but he threatens to let go and fall unless she agrees to go out with him.

Comedic Woman On Man Violence: Mostly seen in anime, recently it has decreased a lot but years back every show had a woman hitting a guy and showed it as funny. Example: Toradora!, where the quintessential tsundere, Taiga, beats up the MC regularly.

Kid Bags Adult Baddie: I remember a few of these, sometimes it was to show how cool and awesome a kid was because an adult woman fell for him, now it's just seen as problematic shit. Example: Blank Check, the woman likes the kid and kisses him telling him to look for her in 10 years.

In the original series, after he saves her, she follows him everywhere and he allows it, but treats her with the same elitist indifference as his servants. Or like a stray cat you leave food out for. He is never a fatherly or brotherly figure. Jaken is the one who raises her (and displays all the sentimentality), while Sesshoumaru leaves for weeks or months at a time. In flashbacks from the sequel/spinoff, he takes her to Sango's village when she becomes a teenager so she can live among humans. She doesn't see him again for several years. When they do meet again, she is the one who pursues him. It's unorthodox, but not nearly as problematic as some like to make it out to be. Because Rin is an adult when the romance begins, it's actually less creepy than Kagome (15) & Inuyasha (150).

Yeah when one person is immortal there's no age the other can be that isn't technically "cradle robbing." That's why context and circumstance are important when it comes to age gaps. There's also the fact that much of Inuyasha takes place in the 1500s, where normal marrying age was much younger. Kagome doesn't tell anyone in her time how old Inuyasha really is, for good reason. But in his time, no one bats an eye that she's 15. We see the error in that today, but it doesn't change the realities of the past.

No it fucking wasn't the norm, ever. That's something people tell themselves today to justify their pedophillia.

I don’t support pedophilia, but you seem to be rewriting history to better serve your own feelings without presenting any kind of evidence to support it. It seems pretty common knowledge that age gapped relationships were more socially acceptable in the past, especially given the natural circumstances human wars have created when it comes to courting.

The comment is also strangely so defensive in an otherwise civil discussion.

You are the one rewriting history.

And it's pretty weird that you claim the person who said pedophillia was never normal is "defensive"

Yes, you freak. I AM defensive about the fact that humanity has never been cool with pedophilia. Every sane person should be.

Yeah, not only do you not seem to not be able to understand what I wrote, but you can’t support what you’re saying outside of attempted ad hominem attacks and saying ‘nuh-uh’.

Acknowledging human history is far from being okay with it, but I can see how when you’re emotional that the two can easily be conflated. Your issues apparently don’t lie with a stranger on the internet but within, I hope your day gets better.
