Surprisingly no one has yet to mention the star staple to the trope Umaru.

Turns into a goblin so hard she's literally unrecognizable.

Very relatable. My actual sister did the exact same shit when we were in high school.

My 30-year-old sister-in-law can do it to this day.

For anyone willing to read, there's a sweet yet heartbkrealing story behind Umaru. I'm not a fan so I might've understood things wrong tho. Anyway :

Umaru is based on the author's real life younger sister. Unfortunately, said real life sister passed away during the publication of the manga and the author powered through it all and only revealed everything years later.

The one line where the creator describes Umaru as proof that his sister lived and that by remembering her you remember his sister is burned into my brain, it’s so tragically beautiful.

Umaru always reminded me of my actual sister (put together outside, slob at home, very demanding) so that story made me sob for sure.

I was enjoying the show when I went online to find if it's over or will it have more seasons, only to find out Abt this, after that I couldn't bring myself to watch this show for a while, just imagining what the author went through... I am happy that his sister will now live through the memories of Umaru we have....

Gonna be honest, I thought that was just her animation. My only exposure to Umaru has been her in gremlin mode apparently

It's a fun anime. It's worth watching, as someone who doesn't even watch a lot of anime

I didn't watch much of anything since like 2010 until the beginning of this year. I've been catching up on stuff I just never saw from that time. Might have to add it to the list

My only exposure to this character was from Socksfor1's friend Blaza

Gonna be honest, having only seen some images of the show online, I legitimately did not know she had a "normal" form and thought the entire show was animated like that

Legit came to.post.this . She was at the BOTTOM

Well the trope is "unexpectedly" and umaru is a gremlin from the very start.
