I work as an illustrator for a japanese firm, and I can assure you, 90% of animators would probably cry if they had to draw Alphonse costantly with his full design.
On the flipside, people at studios bones are sickos in their head, I feel like a lot of people forgot that they initialy started out as a mecha studio lol; they love stupid armor designs like Alphonse.
Apparently the CEO of the studio is very proud in saying how they barely use any CGI for their shows.
I like how you can see in a lot of long running manga that the clothing design gets simpler due to artists throwing up their hands and saying "fuck this shit."
Weekly manga is borderline artist abuse tbh...I say this as someone japanese who does on the weekly 12 hours workshift. I' ve seen mangakas who do 16hours work for months, 7 days of 7... it' s soulcrushing.
That show does some wild stuff with with the animation. Im pretty sure there's even a sequence where she becomes claymation. Bocchi the rock is a fantastic show.
I see this GIF a lot and I only just now noticed the tiny little wake of grass coming off his left foot. It's so unnoticeable that you can't really see it unless your face is inches away from the screen or if you really zoom in.
I'm willing to bet that if the animators used a cloud of dirt to at least try to sell the illusion of movement instead of nearly invisible grass, this scene wouldn't be the poster child of OPM S3's animation issues.
Studio Madhouse, who are already an incredible studio. Plus they had a lot of extra third-party talent from other studios. It was basically a dream team of animation all-stars.
It' s not really the budget actually, this entire part was animated by famous character designer Mai Yoneyama.
Most people probably knew them because of her recent work as character designer for Xenoblade Genesis and Persona 6 lol. She loves drawing pretty boys and she trained at Trigger before becoming a professional animator. As far as what she said, she actually did this work on the cheap, it was mostly done as a thank you for the studio for norturing her!
Panty & Stocking with Garterbel. It’s about two angles who get kicked out of heaven for bad behavior and kill demons to get back in. New season came out last year after long break and a cliffhanger.
I want to be absolutely clear that this is a serious show about inner palace intrigue and the dangerous position women of all standings find themselves in a hyper-misogynistic world.
to add on The Apothecary Diaries' side, the cat ears' gags went even further than just a simple visual gag; I remember a scene in Nekokurage's manga where a character (was it the Madam?) physically tugs Maomao's cat tail as if it were really there.
For anyone willing to read, there's a sweet yet heartbkrealing story behind Umaru. I'm not a fan so I might've understood things wrong tho. Anyway :
Umaru is based on the author's real life younger sister. Unfortunately, said real life sister passed away during the publication of the manga and the author powered through it all and only revealed everything years later.
The one line where the creator describes Umaru as proof that his sister lived and that by remembering her you remember his sister is burned into my brain, it’s so tragically beautiful.
Sullivan from Welcome To Demon School, Iruma-Kun! for some reason he randomly turns into this little egg-shaped chibi sometimes. nobody in-universe has acknowledged it, so I'm guessing it's not literally him shapeshifting and instead just a visual gag

It's a staple in anime. Chibiesque.
