Compared to s3, s2 was great, compared to s1, both are trash

I wouldn’t say ‘trash’ just massively disappointing. Season 1 had so many great shots, art composition and Sakuga. But despite that, even the low budget scenes were ‘animated’ enough.

Then S3 came around and tried to match the Manga fps wise.

Is it serviceable if I put it on a second monitor and don't notice the fps lol

fps

More like seconds per frame.

Fair, but I am ‘early 00s’ pilled and it’s ‘sub or nothing’.

Feels like I'm in high school with teachers who require 'more effort' in your PowerPoints with animations and transitions. That downhill slide is so painful to think about.

Tis a difficult life of subs or nothing these days. Netflix uses trash subs but I just don't download much anymore these days. Perhaps I should change that.....

Man, season one was a dream! Everything was just so exciting. The colors were crisp, the animation as smooth as it was tight, the music was hype! I literally started reading the manga from the start the day after the season ended.

That being said, I'm always gonna love people calling S3 One Frame Man.

S1 was basically Madhouse calling in favours from industry vets left and right.

S2 was when Madhouse randomly decided to go "get some milk" halfway through the animation production schedule and J.C. staff got picked as the emergency backup despite a clear lack of experience

S3 was the result of the people in charge of J.C. Staff seeing the miracle that was the semi-decent animation of S2 and arrogantly going "wow, this must have been easy for them, let's give them a real schedule challenge!"
