Hated Tropes An adaptation completely botches the original theme and message

Mulan(2020)-They give Mulan superpowers which is not only lame it goes against the message of the original about equality and struggle, plus they removes Shang because apparently having Mulan date her superior was "problematic" even though Shang genuienely respected Mulan and their rank was never brought up

I am Legend(2007)-You know why the story is called "I am legend"? SPOILER ALERT the protagonist is the actual monster, humanity is gone and the vampires have a actual society and the protagonist kills and terrorize them

Animal Farm(2026)-On the very slim chance that Andy Serkis ever sees this, here's the thing Andy,Animal Farm was not a children work it was not supposed to have a happy ending, you never heard of cautionary tales before?

O incluso a Hyoga.

Shun also being genderbent sucks because he has a power that was traditionally really feminine, so it also further reinforces gender roles in Shonen

And the women who serve as Athena's saints have to wear masks, like Shaina. Otherwise you don't have the mystery if Marin is Seiya's sister or not.

It was a ridiculous choice and not an empowering one for women (I should know, I am one, lol).

There are already strong female figures in Saint Seiya, like Shaina and Marin, genderbending one of the main characters was probably a move to appeal to younger audiences that know nothing about the original series.

The fact that they've chosen Shun shows only how out of touch they are with the story. That guy is such a refreshing character and a perfect foil for his brother Ikki, who is his exact opposite.

I think Kurumada was pretty ahead of his times (the manga is sort of old by now) when he created a boy that was completely different from the usual shonen tropes, someone who could be sensitive, gentle and strong... that's a good role model right there!

It feels really tone deaf that a modern series (that was probably going for a progressive take on the story) erased that message.

I honestly pretend this CGI nightmare doesn't exist (I find the style hideous tbh) and sincerely hope that the new generations who will pick it up will give a chance to its, much superior, predecessor.

Last but not least: Shingo Araki was the best (r.i.p).

Literally unempowering to both women and men, I would be impressed if the remake/redo didn't stink hot ass.
