miscellaneous Media Made to Prove the Haters Wrong

Tunak Tunak Tun (Daler Mehndi) Critics claimed his music videos were only popular because they featured attractive women dancing. Mehndi responded by making a music video featuring nobody except multiple green-screen versions of himself. It became a massive hit and his most famous song.

Five Nights at Freddy’s - Scott Cawthon previously made a family-friendly game called Chipper & Sons Lumber Co. Critics complained that the characters looked like creepy animatronics. Rather than abandon that visual style, Cawthon decided to turn them into an actual horror game using scary animatronics.

Superman Kingdom Come - Mark Waid and Alex Ross were reacting to the 1990s trend of increasingly violent, cynical superheroes.

Their story deliberately challenged the belief that traditional superheroes like Superman were outdated. It portrayed the consequences of abandoning heroic ideals and argued that compassion, restraint, and morality were still essential to superheroes.

I see FNaF more as Scott using the haters to his advantage

"My models look creepy? Well let's do something creepy then!" Instead of actually trying to prove them wrong

Yeah. It's like, the opposite of proving haters wrong. People criticized his animatronics looked creepy as hell, and he used that feedback to his advantage. Proving the criticism right by just cranking up the creep and changing the genre to use that to his advantage.

They weren't even animatronics, the comments just compared his 3D animations to those animatronics.

I wonder if some of them actually became FNaF fans later on lmao.

Yeah that one seemed like "the haters have a point. I should switch genres"

I mean you can do both. "The haters are right, this is more scary" and "Let's see if they play this then!"

I still don‘t get how that proves the haters wrong.

“Your character designs look like haunted animatronics.”

“Oh yeah? Then watch this”: makes game about haunted animatronics

As I remember it was mostly Jim Sterling (I forgot what their name is now) who panned it and suggested doing horror. Scott decided fuck it lets give it a go.

A good example of how a perceived flaw can actually turn out to be your greatest strenght in certain cases.

Cawthon is a weirdo and a religious fanatic.
