Characters (Loved trope) Thar robot doesn't have the right to be that hot

SCORPIO - Star Wars

Elesh Norn - Magic The Gathering

Wagon - Toqger

And i'm talking about robots that actually look like robots. Not "androids" with perfectly human looks.

Many takes were ruined in Age of Ultron cause the actors couldn't focus on the tennis ball. James Spader was on set with a tennis ball attached to a pole extending from his back to mark where Ultron's face would be.

And because Ultron was so unbelievably tall. That meant Spader's face ended up near crotch level. Clearly Ultron was packing and they couldn't stop getting a quick glance at it.

What i never understood about that is why they didn't just put him up on a platform so that hed actually be at eye level. Surely that would have been better as his cast mates would have actually been able to make eye contact with him, and that hed have the right head position of looking down at them.

And it's not like they wouldn't have been able to it. That's what they did with the old Narnia movies after all. I remember seeing behind the scenes footage where the actors playing centaurs would just be walking on a platform that put them at the right height, which would then be digitally removed along with the actors legs, replaced with the horse half.

I believe they do a combination of techniques it just depends on the shot. There's some behind the scenes of Rogue One and Andor with Alan Tudyk filming K2. Sometimes he walks around on stilts, sometimes it's a backpack with a pole sticking up, sometimes it's a full green screen.

He walks around the set and interacts. Little harder to put him on a platform
