I’m reminded of an Alaskan cryptid. I think it was a dinosaur? And the local newspaper asked the local lion cub about the matter, which made me feel happy 😊

I love that series! The animals are so cute and seeing the different animals’ reactions to the mic is so funny. Also it surprised me just how cute porcupine sounds are!

They get an orca to testify later in the series.

I haven’t caught up on Ace Attorney after the Edgeworth games so all I’ll say is
How the fuck did they let that happen

u/TheChellix 1h ago
That’s not even the craziest part. An orca is the defendant in the case, and its defense attorney is Phoenix Wright.

If people haven't seen any of it, please, go and watch Creature Comforts, it's a series of interviews with real people, then animated with Aardman's classic claymation style, with each interviewee or group of interviewees given their own animal representation.

Its not a news reporter but its too good to leave out.
In the ace attorney series you play as phoenix wright a defense lawyer called phoenix wright. The world in ace attorney is already a bit out there, you have spirit mediums who can channel dead people, who can basically live through the mediums body for a short period of time (the medium transforms into the deceased).
In the last case of the first game, u are trying to clear your childhood rival and prosecutor of the game of murder (he is your client in this case). You have the killer on the ropes, but you cant establish his motive (you know its because of a past criminal case but you cant prove it).
The way Phoenix proves it? Calling the killers parrot to the stand and getting it to testify. The day previous during the investigation, the parrot said the name of the case (DL-6) previously, so Phoenix knows the killer has talked to the parrot about this case. Phoenix calls the parrot to the stand and basically gets it to say lots of repeated phrases about the case, beyond of which could just be a coincidence, and it works in getting the killer to confess.

Yes the prosecutor in this case is the culprit of the past case i mentioned, and colluded with the culprit of this case to kill the victim, who was the defense lawyer in that past case. The defendant (your rival) is actually the prosecutor in this cases mentee so its a betrayal there. And worse so that the victim in the past case was your rivals father. The prosecutor in this case killed his dad, took thhe son as a mentee, then set him up for murder in the present 😭

Funnily enough, there have been two documented irl cases of a parrot being a key witness in a murder trial, although in both cases it was an African Grey rather than a macaw.

African grays are SO smart. There’s one I watch on YouTube, Apollo, who is extremely smart and can identify several objects. He knows the difference between Shrek and Wario and loves to touch purple

In the DLC case of the 5th game, he does this again with the accused, an orca, but it doesn't turn as useful iirc due to orcas inability to speak
3
u/Chocolate4Life8 7h ago
Yes the orca doesnt speak but the consequences were actually really good. He basically proves there is two orcas by the skills the orca testifying does and doesnt know, which helps immensely in proving both the real location of the murder, and exposes the killers motive (he was trying to kill one of the orcas not knowing there was two of them)

An incredible claymation that one an Oscar for best animated short. The voices are man on the street interviews with just random people (I believe around London? it was made by Aardman, the same company behind Wallace & Gromit and Flushed Away) — and then animated into animals. The most memorable one for me is a Brazilian man talking very passionate about how much he misses how meat was prepared back home and how he can’t get it anymore, but animated into a lion trapped in a zoo.

LOVE that show! They did a British version first, then a shorter- but hilarious- American version.

A twist on the trope. In Terry Pratchett’s The Truth, newspaperman William de Worde investigates a story about a plot to dethrone the partrician. He unknowingly interviews a talking dog hiding in the shadows. Thing is, de Worde doesn’t believe in a talking dog and thinks such an idea would only exist in tabloid journalism.

Phil Collins did a cover of "Old MacDonald" for charity and from the video it looks like he tried to get some animals in the recording studio, but because they wouldn't perform, he got various celebrities to do animal noises.

In Terry Pratchett's "The Truth", Lord Vetinari aka the Patrician gets accused of attempted murder and embezzlement with only Waffles, his trusted elderly terrier as the only witness to what happened. Waffles escaped the scene of the crime and went into hiding.
In a parody of investigative journalism, William De Worde ends up tracking Waffles with the help of Gaspode (a dog who has the ability to talk due to a magic accident) and conducts an interview with the elderly terrier with Gaspode acting as the interpreter.
The interview ends up being important as it reveals there were two Vetinaris during the incident one of which "smelt wrong" which makes William figure out it was actually an impersonator who did the deed rather than the Patrician himself.
