Personality Divine? Yes. Perfect? Lol, no.
- Aqua from Konosuba:
Despite being a literal goddess, she's stupid, arrogant, selfish, dumb, and stupid - almost always causing more problems for her party than she solves. She also puts the world she is responsible for in danger by losing track of the powerful cheat items that she gave to people she reincarnated into said world.
- Mega-mega from I've Been Killing Slimes For 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level:
Mega-mega is a goddess responsible for resurrecting people into other worlds. She has a fondness for young women and is demoted from her position as a goddess once it's found out that she has been reincarnating everyone as an immortal beautiful young woman.
- Panty & Stocking from Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt:
Panty & Stocking are a pair of angels who were banished from heaven due to their respective lust and gluttony. On Earth, it is their role to destroy ghosts in order to earn their way back into heaven. They do this but they also make absolutely no effort to stop the behaviours that got them kicked out of heaven in the first place.

Hey! Hades was mostly chill!
He only abducted like... one person! That makes him a paragon among the Greek Gods!
(Also I do enjoy the modern retellings where they were in love and the whole "abduction" was a ploy to get the other gods to approve of their relationship)

u/_whatever_wherever 3h ago edited 3h ago
And now I think about it so was Ares....
Sure he was the god of war, but he only did he job in that regard
And the worst thing that could be said about him was he and Persephone were legitimately in love when she was in a political marriage
21
u/will4wh 3h ago
You mean him and Aphrodite? And in Ares and Aphrodite defense iirc Aphrodite didn't want to be in that marriage (to Hephaestus) but was forced into it by Zeus because Hera got stuck in a chair so tbh that probably one the more justified reasons for why a greek god cheated on their SO since it not like she even decided to marry she was forced in that so I think you're right in that regard

TBF to Hades, he asked the father, he said yes and he went to grab the maid and was a good husband. Which is horrifying by every metric but back then they didnt intend it as such even if it absolutly is.
Also the father is Zeus because the universe would end if it wasnt Zeus fault.

u/_whatever_wherever 21m ago
Yeah, by our standards it's bad, but by Greek is was quite normal
Demeter was wrong by their values to be upset about it

The God of Love, The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You
He's the cause of the entire premise of the series accidentally assigning 100 soulmates to Rentarou Aijou instead of usual 1, and the main reason it happened is because he was distracted being awed by Castle in the Sky on TV and added two zeroes to Rentarou's 1 soulmate.

But if it wasn’t for him sucking at his job we wouldn’t have gotten the series so it’s a win in my books

Kubera: One Last God.

Gods are a mixed bag, but they tend to be incredible flawed in this setting, even those that genuinely try to do good.
As the series progresses, they become increasingly more questionable.
Most of them even participated in the extinction of the first human race because they were too powerful, and then replacing them with a more pious, ignorant humanity.

u/Meander061 4h ago
That seems to be a crime committed by the gods of the world of Clevatess, Season II, as well.

God from undead unluck
Apart from the whole being evil thing they have going on with them destroying the Earth multiple times iirc the reason why they are even in the story is because they are psychopath even by the standards of their own species and was banished because of it. With Lunar speculating that they were sent to what would become Earth to learn a lesson

Yato! From Noragami!
He’s a (minor) god, but really kind of just a loser (affectionate).
His only real desire is to be recognized and worshipped.

Beerus the god of destruction of the 7th universe (Dragon Ball Super)
Strong and intimidating when he wants to be? Yes absolutely
But canonical he is terrible at he’s job due to being a slacker, second worst in fact when compared to the other 12 universe’s GoDs at the time of the tournament of power arc

How does it bring harmony?
1
u/ohgodmyeyesrbleeding 2h ago
Big explosion go boom > all thing turn into space dust > all thing same > harmony
3
u/Lil_Puddin 1h ago
In game a lot of the data conflates Harmony and Order. Which logically makes sense since Harmony consumed Order. But our logic on aeons is sucky so oops we're wrong~
Puppeteering and brainwashing is Order's thing. Which is why Aeons and sentient folk were very happy to get rid of Order. Unfortunately, a lot of people still saw Ye Olde Order inside Harmony, instead of the kinder freedom Harmony brought.
The v2 or Replacement never gets to start with a clean slate. The spooky mean powers used by the villain are all from Order too, not Harmony.
2
u/blueisherp 2h ago
I think you could argue most of the Aeons are imperfect, or at least their path has some sort of fallacy. I think the Aeon that fits op's examples the most is probably Aha (or at least what we know of them so far)
3
u/The_Vatsu 2h ago
I picked Xipe because they fit the Divine aspect the most (also Ena but they are dead).
But yes all Aeons are very flawed and mostly evil by human standards, they only do one thing after all and don't care about anything else.

u/nyitraibotond 3h ago
Also wanted to mention the gods from He Who Fights With Monsters
They are magical beings created by the world themself. They embkdy certain phylosophies or parts of nature. The thing is, the moment something falls out of their jurisdiction they stop caring pretty much.
For example the Healer naturally heals people. However it is in his nature to do that, and just that. He doesn't protect, he doesn't care about wars, if anything he likes it bcs there will be more people to heal. While luckily he is generally benevolent so he doesn't instigate it is still a pretty scary prospect.
These gods are also sentient to some extent and on occasion they can break their nature. Example would be Hero who always aopears in the last moment of someone's life in the battlefield giving them a final power up, and guaranteeing a heroic death. He himself was so tired of always having to make good people make sacrafices that he sanctioned himself and ceased his existent to some extent, so the next time magic manifests him he could alter his jurisdiction to be something else

u/Dude_Jack123 4h ago edited 2h ago
The Gods of the Discworld tend to be this, being an overly capricious lot that rely too much on a thunderbolt to settle arguments with mortals. Are some that are a bit brighter than others, but they're largely a self-absorbed bunch looking for entertainment, regardless of who gets hurt.

If you ignore the sequel/spin-off where she tries to get a job in earth, she got tragically dumbed down so much that it's not even funny. ETA: Although Belldandy does get a little bit of a mean streak/jealous/possessive in one of the arcs (in the manga, at least), tho I can't remember if Bell's hostility was towards Peorth or Sayoko

Genuinely the best character in the show. Any mistakes were innocent ignorance, and she wanted to help everyone. Everyone else catches strays for their problems, and the worst you can say about Emily was that she had no way to know the big picture.

Hey, Hestia doesn't have any slander attached to her.
The worst thing Hades did was take advice from Zeus. That's right, the kidnapping was Zeus's idea.

At least it's actually an improvement. Regular Divine Spirit Ishtar is quite a bit of a jerk. This Ishtar is so different that Enkidu can actually tolerate her.
2
u/Delilah_the_PK 3h ago
"Bit of a jerk" hilariously understates how true ishtar is. Her fake incarnation yoinked gugalanna from the babylonia era because her ex and his clay boyfriend were summoned.

Someone's posted Palutena already, but hasn't explained why.
She's a goddess with a wide range of powers, control over light, portal creation, black hole generation, telepathy, astral projection, telekinesis, explosion generation, speed enhancement, etc etc as well as being borderline omniscient.
However, despite this, she doesn't know literally everything, having to consult a Wiki for things she doesn't know (I'm not joking, that's canon), and if she can't find one she just shrugs. She's also extremely greedy and will eat pretty much anything she's given. She's also a jokester and will go out of her way to annoy others in what can only be described as an 'older sibling' type way.
The worst aspect, however, is her cooking. It's not just bad, it's actually dangerous. There was an animated short about her cooking which went so bad, she ended up caged up by the food she was cooking, and later just ordered a pizza instead.

Lucifer (Christian mythology, adapted in a buncha media). Divine angel, often considered God's favorite. While the Bible itself doesn't really talk about him much at all, the general lore is that he betrayed God as was banished from Heaven, and is often seen as "the devil"

Practical any of the Angels in Disgaea, they often portray as racist to demons, corrupt, flawed, or power hungry even the playable Angels can shown to flawed Flonne is one of nicest characters in series but she is not above to hurt Laharl, Artina is generous person but does it in a silver tongue way and Christo questions why demons would be nice to him, but they are portrayed as the nicer angels in their series, which again given who others act.

Zamasu from Dragon Ball Super.
As an apprentice of his universe’s Supreme Kai, he was supposed to learn the balance of the universe and his role in creating celestial bodies.
Upon looking at the brutality of a mortal civilization, Zamasu only felt one thing, disgust.
So he made it his entire life’s objective to exterminate all sentient life.

The Shifting Mound from Slay the Princess I guess. She is pretty arrogant when you try to argue. I mean, just as mc, she is literally incomplete after all - they're two parts of one. And maybe she is supposed to be like this, as the Princess says in the end "I don't think she's the sort of thing you can really disagree with"

Godworld from the Rising of the Shield Hero light novels

MY GOAT TENSHI
She's a Celestial/resident of Heaven. Despite this and her great design, she's actually very self-centered and prideful.
She purposely caused an earthquake + weather to go haywire to mess with people down below. She did all of this just because she was bored out her mind. She expected people to be mad and fight her (and they did). She loves the thrill, even at people's expense. She cannot be normal fr lmao
I like how unapologetic she is about her intentions though. It's straight to the point.
