Me and my sister are both seeing Olivia in Toronto Tuesday October 27th. We are both in the same section (109) and row (27) but one of us is seat 3 and one of us is seat 11. What is the best way of trying to get seats together? We were thinking of even just bringing extra money on the concert day and seeing if one of the people beside us will switch? 😭 does anyone have any ideas or has experienced this before? Or do we have to accept its just not happening. Thank you!

My friends, live music in southern Ontario is at a breaking point. Livenations monopoly driving ticket prices to unaffordable levels for regular people, cramming into hastily built stadiums like rats in a cage. Bands selling merch in parking lots due to greedy venues taking cuts, making touring borderline unsustainable for many acts. Bars taking 100% of bar profits and still demanding a cut of door. Even some local promoters are forced to charge up to $30 for a 4 band local band bill at a bar charging $11 for a $2 can of pilsner.

There is a better way.

Alternity Hub and the Kirtan Culture Initiative are excited to invite you for a special event at Alternity (333 Bloor St West) in downtown Toronto. The event will feature an interactive presentation of musical mantra meditation (kirtan).

Kirtan is a call-and-response form of meditation, utilizing ancient eastern mantras, traditional instruments and our very own voices. The event will present an opportunity to explore our sacred heart space through the power of music and mantras. The practice of kirtan can tap into deep states of consciousness but can also invoke exciting feelings of joy and energy.

Presenting this special workshop will be members of the Kirtan Culture Initiative who have been sharing kirtan in various capacities throughout Toronto for the last 15 years. We warmly invite you to join us for this special event!

We are playing music with 80's inspired sound of the bands like Skid Row, Van Halen, Firehouse, and Def Leppard.

Looking for a male singer with a good range and a drummer who is capable of keeping up with rhythms and ideas. Preferably in their 20s, but younger fellas are also welcome.

We have a bunch of instrumetal demos. Not final versions, of course, but just enough to give you an idea of what we play.

I formed a band with other Toronto-based redditors, we have a bassist, two guitarrists and a drummer.

We went to the studio once and are still jamming and seeing how it goes, but we have no singer!

So far we played:

Man in the box - Alice in Chains

Creep - Radiohead

And we intend on playing songs from these bands in the future:

• The Cranberries
• Weezer
• Green Day
• Smashing Pumpkins
• And more!

(We are still deciding on which songs to play, but this is just to give you a rough idea)

None of us are professional musicians, so this is absolutely a hobbyist project, without expectation of pay. We book the studio for 2-3 hours and split the costs, just to play and have fun.

We will ask for a sample of your singing if you want to play with us, before we decide!

My name is Sandra and I'm a Toronto-based writer, musician, and the frontwoman of the indie dreampop band fuzz petal. I hold a BA in English from TMU, bring 8 years of guitar experience, and have a background in storytelling across comic books, video games, and music. I love fostering creativity in the local music scene and mentoring beginners of all ages in a judgment-free space.
