The AFP is today releasing images located during an ongoing child abuse investigation, seeking any information the community might have about them.

The images were allegedly located on electronic devices seized as part of the investigation.

Full article. Other threads will be created here for the other items in the article.

Please post your guesses and ideas in this thread. Work off the suggestions of others toward an answer.

Geographic location and country is important.

Identify the traits of the item that you can, but if you know where an item is generally sold or happens to be in the picture, that is of use.

If you feel there's a (definitive) answer, don't just comment here. You can send your information to ACCCE by clicking REPORT

Multiple people can and should send information - people may error when sending, and multiple legitimate guesses can be of use.

Thank You.

I know those shorts, I’m very confident. My son had those shorts years ago. Maybe 5 years ago. They’re from Kmart and they came in shorts and also in a Rashie. They have pictures of whales on them. I’ll check if I have an old photo of them. They also came in a darker navy colour too. It’s not my son though, we’re no where near Rouse Hill though and my son didn’t go to childcare.

Thank you. That would be an incredible help.

Wait is this the photo of the child victim himself? Poor baby boy. I feel so bad for him

I think you're right. The top looks like a rashie, too. From the pattern on the shoulder I reckon it could have a tropical plant/dinosaur pattern that is pretty typical on boys swimwear in aus/nz.

Edit: on the possibility that it is a rashie, it could also be a marine/coral pattern, perhaps with sharks on it.

I think you could be on to something. The orange writing on the top looks like it spells "Shark".

u/Nelipot_pilgrim Jul 18 '26

Possibly. I don't see letters however, I see leaves of a plant or the spines of a stegosaurus or something like that.

The black and white shoe looks like this Kmart one:

https://www.kmart.com.au/product/junior-sneakers-s170633/?sku=73457718&selectedSwatch=Black&size=11+JNR

If you play around with the picture brilliance on an iPhone, you can make out similar shaped patches on the front and back of the shoe.

Black and white shoes like this are widely available so it’s hard to say if it’s this particular one. Lots of parents shop at Kmart though so there’s a high chance it might be this

Definitely looks like those cruddy Kmart sneakers

For these Operation Moonbi posts, everyone please read the full article linked and bear in mind 1) they’re located within Australia only, and 2) the more important factor is if someone personally recognises / owns / has owned these items in the past. These are about identifying victims, not ONLY the items. Identifying brand and full item etc is super helpful too! But after that, it’s more about if someone knows their kid, a relative, a friend’s kid, etc owned and wore these items and where they’re located and their childcare provider.

These relate to the arrest of 35yo Hamish Tait who was employed in childcare and early education facilities between 2009 and 2025

(Apologies for copy-pasting to each post but it’s necessary)

The centre and dates are also published. It's about identifying which kid was there on those dates

Thank you for adding this to each post.

No problem. Won’t be able to check until later today. I think that print came in a few different garments and a couple of different colour ways if I recall correctly. I found a very similar pair online for resale on MP.

That t-shirt has a forward shoulder seam and possibly a full front panel that has been given a patchwork contrast with embroidered fabric. The pattern is batik.  The orange circles are holes with embroidery around the holes. They're made in Indonesia and sometimes India. I've seen them sold on Shein.

Example: https://www.moleyapparels.com/product/batik-florets-print-panel-t-shirt-black-mens-t-shirt?srsltid=AfmBOoo6RryufJObqPhyyvBT7y2-4YUgGAsIF8dJXl6BLNr37KMEeBBV

Edit: On further research, I've settled on it being Hawaiian/Polynesian batik https://www.johariwest.com/products/hawaiian-mens-shirt-autumn-gold-black

Hello,

Jumped a bit on the playground and found out some interesting patterns regarding Your photos.

I will post here the second photo where it is clearly visible a pattern of " . N O O P . " which concludes the keyword play of S N O O P Y - First clue.

and will post another comment with the second clue, still following the patterns which are a bit "diluted" on this photo.

When I first looked at that orange pattern, I thought they were actual fabric loops, not printed words. Could the orange loops be fabric sticking out of the sleeve?

21

u/AnnFleur42 Jul 16 '26

Yes, they are fabric loops.

I thought the same thing. Currently trying to find a similar design by typing things such as ‘shoulder tab detail, decorative shoulder trim,
loop shoulder detail, braid shoulder trim, shoulder ribbon loops’.

I also think it’s a girls long sleeved top, paired with ‘boys’ shorts and shoes. Searching cotton on and seed heritage online for a match

the original article says specifically that it’s an animal print, so i’m not sure if fabric loops would be the right direction?

Co-pilot is pretty convinced that the image is from the Sep-Nov 2022 drop at Kmart, but I can't find any catalogues online

u/emmcmah0n Jul 16 '26

I don’t know if this is helpful, but have you ever used: https://web.archive.org

Thanks. I did try the wayback machine, but couldn't get anything to come up. I'm not an expert though, so maybe someone else will have better luck?

u/UsedAd7852 Jul 16 '26

Regarding the second clue, You have a visibility of the " S " missing on the first clue, and following by the second pattern of the image that was " diluted" on the first clue as well. I did sketch it up and it shows a very efficient image on this logo that I will post bellow with the final conclusion that I have.

6

u/UsedAd7852 Jul 17 '26

This is what I have concluded from my sketch and it gives the impression of Snoopy Surf considering the color patterns of yellow or orange and the position of the animal. I presume it has a vintage touch or most likely from the 90's. I have seen another one limited edition with that orange writing, from the 90's.

I hope this helps.

Have a nice day and good luck finding it.

This appears to be a dinosaur pattern. These clothes I often see from Kmart or target
