Pollution hack: Bushes
My previous post seem to draw consensus around the fact that the pollution system needs work .
In the meantime, u/Totino_Montana shared a hack in the comments that proves to be effective...
Forget logistics, or anything involving actual transport, think landscaping! The solution is bushes, LOTS OF THEM. Pack them in like a madman around industries and along roads, and the pollution goes away.
I tested it on one of my cities that was crippled by pollution, and it was very effective. It's not fully solved in my case because most of the industries are on the lake. Unfortunately, the game doesn't let you plant kelp, BUT you can plant bushes underwater on some random parts of the sea floor (lol). It's not as effective as on land since it's not as dense, but it does seem to help.
I've attached supporting screenshots, judge for yourself.
You may also want to get another job to buy a new GPU and more RAM.

It's such a shit game mechanic. I understand what they were going for, but it just kills the fun from the game.
Just turn it off.

yes, would be nice for an option to turn it off.

yes there is, essentially. turn off its impact on town growth. then it’s essentially meaningless

planting bushes underwater isnt that strange tho. I used to have aquariums with all kind of different plants in them. 95% of them were not pure waterplants but plants that could grow above as well as below water. For reproducing i multiplied some plants by growing them outside the tank in a moist environment as they do grow better above water.

I tried it with trees but it didn't do much if anything. I think it's a density problem. Bushes pack more densely and are therefore much more effective.

I used trees in my world and it definitely helped, but not nearly as much as in yours with the bushes. Guess my citizens will be seeing a change of greenery soon :D

I discovered it after about 10 hours of playtime. Now, 13 hours in, my laptop is in for repair because the GPU died.
