Broken piece

Post image

Hello trombonist of Reddit I play on an olds S23 and one of the springs broke while I was doing maintenance on my horn for the valves and I don’t know here to get a new one so no my second trigger doesn’t go up by it self

Yup, a tech is going to make a new spring or just start from scratch without the clock-sprung mechanism.

What tech would do that and how much would it cost

Any tech around you, probably. Depends on how much work is involved- clock sprung valves are super outdated and not used on really anything now, so replacements are hard to get.

A tech could probably take care of this in about 10 minutes.

Most brass techs are gonna have a ton of springs laying around.

Well im aware about that but im more concerned that they wouldn’t have a spring for mine Cuase of the springs being kind of unique from what I’ve seen

They can't repair a spring. They could cut it down, but they can't reattach a broken piece back on.

Either a new part needs to be ordered, or a spring fabricated from a other similar spring, or made from scratch.

A new part would have to be fabricated cause i don’t think they make parts for my instrument and sale them anymore
