New OTR asking advice
I’m going to be starting on the road soon switching over from a local job, I’m looking to see if anyone can offer me some advice. I was considering getting an automatic litter box initially but haven’t seen anyone talking about them and if they’re a good idea or not. Also any other advice for starting out would be greatly appreciated :)

I had a regular box with clumping litter. It got cleaned every time I stopped which only took a few seconds. This kept any smell from lingering.

Travel a bit for work ( not trucker ). Large SUV or 4 door pickups are the company norm, so ok there. I have two cats that are VERY well travelled. I got the first one off the interstate where a lady threw him out her sunroof as a kitten.
I get a couple of the cardboard ( 24 soda/beer) bases, clear tall kitchen liners from Costco. 2 liners go over the box. It gets filled 1/3 with litter. Scoop for a day or two, then just fold one bag back and “boom” clean and good to go. Similar for hotel room, easy cleanup ( unless cats a digger).
Litter robot 4 at home with internal battery backup, probably overkill for a truck, but as a home box, it’s a godsend.

Please do not get an automatic one I’ve heard of peoples cats getting stuck in them. Clean out the poop everyday and make the litter feel fresh for the cat again, you can add a fresh scoop when you do this as well. When you deep clean the whole litter box (probably like once or twice a month) I recommend using vinegar, it isn’t harmful for cats upon my own research and it helps a lot with odors!

Get yourself a pair for whatever model you'll be running. 90% of "my animal ran away" posts are caused by them stepping on the window buttons while the driver is away or asleep.
Train them to stay away from the pedals as well.
