Discussion Dog With a Bone?

Anybody listen to this podcast? Someone on here recommended it and a listened to the first episode yesterday. I’m looking for opinions on whether they thought this was a good podcast. I’m not sure if I should continue.

The story seems interesting but the narrator is annoying me. Everything about her. Her voice, her cadence, and sometimes she’s clearly reading. She sounds talk like a kindergarten teacher.

Will I get over it? Should I?

I've never heard of it but unless you're going to hate-listen, I vote for you bailing on it. Don't do it to yourself. There are a bazillion other true crime podcasts.

I thought season one and two we’re fairly good Investigations. However, the narrator started working with James Basinger, and I don’t find him to be very ethical or credible

If you don't like it, move on. I will say, though, that most podcasters are reading. Very few are just winging it.

She reads like Katie Zacharia only her voice is more annoying.

I wouldn’t waste your time with anymore of it.

The narrator voice/cadence thing is make-or-break for me with true crime too — if I'm fighting the delivery I stop absorbing the story at all.

Is it the case itself keeping you going, or more sunk cost from episode 1? If the story is interesting I'd give it one more episode and see if the narration fades into the background once you're deeper in. If you're already dreading pressing play though, life's too short, there are too many good shows out there.

What hooked you in episode 1 in the first place?

Mostly that it was so highly recommended on this sub. But I threw in the towel in the middle of episode 2. Found another podcast recommended here that is so much better.

What’s it about?

It’s about a podcaster who murders her victims with her voice and narrative. 😅 It’s about the murder of a guy named Bernie who everybody liked. He had Cerebral Palsy I think. He had a full time job but also sold coke to his friends. Interviews are a lot of he said she said. Heavy on the drama. I pulled the plug in the middle of episode 2. Now I’m listening to Down the Hill instead which made me realize another element missing from Dog with a Bone is production value.

Haha so I guess you’re not recommending it… although now I might as well ask if you recommend down the hill (I’d take a look at especially if it’s available free and Apple Podcasts)

So far so good. I’m about half way through. I had a 5 hour drive yesterday so I listened straight through. It was also recommended on here. It’s about two little girls who were killed in Delphi, Indiana. Apparently it’s a very well know case but I’ve never heard about it. Developed by two people from CNN so it’s very professional.

Edit: I didn’t answer one of your questions. Yes, free on Apple podcast.
