Idea There should be a wonder trade feature but only to released pokemon

Maybe call it "wonder find" and essentially like pokemon dumpster diving.

If another player is in online mode released a pokemon from their PC box it can then possibly find a new home to another trainer via the wonder find, OT will still say the original trainer that released them but maybe these pokemon can have special features perhaps maybe they obey you at half the level of the badge limit you currently have, or you can nickname them at will, or their friendship growth doubles with you.

Kinda like the anime, where certain pokemon were abandoned and wound up being ash Ketchum's pokemon instead.

At first I would wonder what if that would make potential problems like hackmon spreading...then I remember it's always a thing since wonder trading, if anything wonder trading would be worse because is something you actively want to send to others too.

Most part, releasing pokemon is mostly like clearing PC boxes either for dex completion or EV training fodders, so is less likely you are getting pokemon like a Psyduck name "I<3aids" of the sort, that you would find in wonder trade, and a good chance to find decent pokemon too, you probably won't find a shiny Arceus in here but you can find a decent level 1 pokemon with egg moves with it atleast.

Discussion How humans (indirectly) brought evil into the world

Whether "evil pokemon" exist or not is something of a debate. One episode of the Anime "Island of the Giant Pokemon" suggests that Pokemon are never evil, but only do bad things if their trainer is bad.

This idea has been discredited, as the episode was in Gen 1, and later gens seem to tell a different story. Most notably an evil Malamar, a Pokemon who wishes to take over the world, as opposed to simply being owned by an evil trainer. But even then, this Malamar was born after humans have long existed, and we no nothing about it's past. It could have easily have been influenced by humans.

Realy, the thing that got me writing this post is when looking at Legendary/Mythical Pokemon, and how many of them are gods or kami of various concepts

Many of these concepts are things that exist in nature, like time, space, matter, earth, sea, sky, life, death, volcanos ect. But we also have abstract concepts, like gratitude, truth, ideals, victory. All in all, most Legendary/Mythical pokemon eaither represent natural elements, or positive concepts.

But what about negative concepts? Hatred, greed, envy, despair?

God of Evil

What if I was to tell you, the "kami of evil" is not a pokemon at all?

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon is spin-off that takes place in a world with no humans. Instead, Pokemon behave like people, running shops, living in houses, paying bills ect. Consequently, that means that, like humans, both good and evil individuals exist. Whilst PMD is beloved as a whole, it has had some controversy, such as making Darkrai evil. But, like I said, this is a world where pokemon behave like humans.

The thing I want to talk about are the last two major titles. Gates of Infinity and Super Mystery Dungeon. GoI has a non-pokemon entity called the "Bittercold" as the main villain, whereas SMD has Dark Matter.

It's implied that these beings are born from negative emotions. Bittercold specifically feeds on despair, whilst for Dark Matter, it's evil in general.

The PMD games specifically say they feed on the negative emotions of Pokemon, with the player have some resistance due to being human.

However, what if Bittercold and Dark Matter didn't always feed on the negative emotions of Pokemon? Sure, they feed off of Pokemon now but that could just be because Pokemon have replaced humans as the dominant species. Originally, they could have both powered by the despair and sins of humans.

One thing that may contradict this idea is that in the player from GoI was resistant to Bittercold because they were a human. However, this could mean that whilst humans are more prone to despair then Pokemon, that makes then more resistant to it

How humans brought kleshas/sins into the world

As I explained, there are many Legendary/Mythical Pokemon that are manifestations of abstract concepts. However, most of them are positive.

It's important to remember that kami are not necessarily the creators of the concepts they embody, but rather, they realy personify it. They prove the concept exists, so it can be taught and spread.

However, whereas positive concepts where personified by naturally existing Pokemon, like Victini and Shaymin, the negative come are creations of humans.

For the most obvious ones, we have the Treasures of Ruin, four Legendary Pokemon which are confirmed to exist because of humans, and all personify intense, negative emotions. These being resentment, hatred, fear and envy.

It's possible Hoopa may represent greed. Although Hoopa's origin is unknown, some fans believe it may have come into existence due to human activity.

Mewtwo could just seem as a personification of hubris. It was created by science to be the most powerful pokemon, but lacks compassion.

Nihilego, whilst not created by humans, was fused with the human Lusamine to become MOTHERBEAST. Nihilego/MOTHERBEAST could be seen as the personification of ignorance, one of the three poisons (along with attachment and hatred) of Buddhism. That being said, whilst the Ultra Wormholes appear to be a natural phenomenon, it could be that, like Bittercold, Dark Matter and (as I suspect) Hoopa, these rift are in actuality created (indirectly) by negative human emotions. This would fit with the theme of Ultra Beats being "invasive species", which wouldn't realy work as a metaphor if they arrived by anything other then human activity.

How many other Pokemon, be they Legendary, Mythical, Ultra Beast, could be personification of human sins/kleshas?

Summary

Humans indirectly created Dark Matter through negative thoughts and evil deeds.

There are many special Pokemon that each represent a sin or klesha. These were all created/introduced by humans, whether indirectly or purposely.

The following list

  • Dark Matter - Evil
  • Bittercold - Despair
  • Mewtwo - Hubris
  • Hoopa - Avarice
  • Nihilego/MOTHERBEAST - Ignorance
  • Wo-Chien - Resentment
  • Chien-Pao - Hatred
  • Ting-Lu - Fear
  • Chi-Yu - Envy

There could be more I haven't thought of. If you have any ideas, please share.

Discussion A message to Grant

Hello, Grant. We've probably never met in the real world and probably never will.

Today, I bought your copy of Pokémon Heart Gold from a vendor at Arkansas Retrofest 3. I opened your save and you were in the middle of the Elite 4 Rematches. Instead of deleting the save, I finished your unfinished business. Your team are all champions.

Some of them were traded in, but others traveled all the way from Hoenn. I am unsure if you had any attachment to them but it feels wrong to just let them disappear. I am currently working on a save in Pokémon White 2 to move your teammates into Pokémon Home.

I am unsure if this message will reach you nor do I believe anyone will read this. In the case that you somehow see this, I am more than willing to trade you back your old friends.

Edit: As of October 18 2026, Your Pokemon have been safely deposited into Pokemon Home. Thankfully, my White 2 file was already pretty much completed, I just had to get through victory road and beat the champion.

Gimmick battle ideas (Gen V)

Recently my father has taken an interest in playing through all the mainline games, and it will be some time before he reaches gen V, but i think it will be bw2 that we will wind up completing a living dex for.

I figured it would be fun to have him battle against me while i use teams to teach him the many gimmicks of pokemon. Im talking weather teams, status gimmicks, hazards, baton passing, etc.

The format will be doubles and I will only use 4 pokemon at a time.

What are some of your favorite/ less popular gimmicks leading up to that generation?

For context, when i was younger, he would always put the beating on me in Madden. So I gotta get my get-back 😈

How Can I Learn?

I was always one of the kids that was steadfast in not wanting/needing to know about Pokemon, due to disinterest and no access to it. Which now means, that when I have been “successfully turned into a Pokemon girlie” I have no idea where to start. I read a LOT, but I’m not sure if reading is the move here. I’ve been getting into Pokemon Pearl, and have the go app on my phone. I want to go headfirst into the deep end for lore primarily. Help a girl out?

Idea [Mechanic Concept]Bringing NFE (Not Fully Evolved) Pokémon to the forefront with a manual mid-battle evolution button.

One of the biggest criticisms of recent generational mechanics like Dynamax and Terastallization is that every Pokémon can use them—meaning already overpowered Legendaries, Paradox, and high-BST Pokémon just become even stronger.

What if a new mainline mechanic focused exclusively on evolving Pokémon mid-battle, naturally locking single-stage Legendaries, Mythicals, and Paradox Pokémon out of the gimmick? Plus, for casual players, it solves the age-old dilemma of cute starters evolving into designs they dislike (since they revert back after battle, just like Mega Evolution).

Here is how the mechanic works from a competitive standpoint:

Core Mechanics:

  • The Evolution Button: You bring an NFE (Not Fully Evolved) Pokémon into battle. Starting from Turn 1, you can press the Evolution Button before selecting a move (working on the same timing as Mega Evolution). Your Pokémon immediately evolves, applying its evolved stats, typing, and ability on that exact turn.
  • Stat & Status Reset: Upon pressing the button and evolving, all stat changes (including stat drops) and primary status conditions (Burn, Paralysis, Toxic, etc.) are completely cleared.
  • Required Held Item: To use this mechanic, the Pokémon must hold a specific Evolution Item (acting like a Mega Stone—cannot be removed by Knock Off or Trick, and isn't consumed upon activation). Even level-up evolutions must hold a dedicated item to access the button.
  • Multiple Uses for 3-Stage Lines: There is no "once per battle" limit. If you start with a 1st-stage Pokémon (e.g., Deino), you can evolve into Zweilous on Turn 1, and then into Hydreigon on Turn 2—getting two status/stat-drop resets in a single battle.

Why this is balanced & how it shifts the Meta:

  1. No Eviolite or Focus Sash Abuse: Because the Pokémon is forced to hold the Evolution Item, Porygon2 or Chansey cannot abuse Eviolite bulk and evolve later. Likewise, frail NFEs can't rely on Focus Sash. However, on Team Preview, your opponent won't know if your Porygon2 or Dusclops is holding an Eviolite (defensive wall) or an Evolution Item (ready to turn into an offensive Porygon-Z at any moment).
  2. Free Overheat / Draco Meteor Spam: A 3-stage Pokémon can fire off a Draco Meteor or Leaf Storm (-2 SpA), evolve the next turn to reset the -2 SpA drop back to 0 while gaining higher base stats, and fire it off again at full power.
  3. Mid-Battle Speed, Type & Ability Shifting:
    • Scyther ➔ Scizor/Kleavor: Keep Scyther's base 105 Speed when you need to outspeed threats, or press the button to shift into Scizor's Bug/Steel typing to tank an incoming attack and cure a Will-O-Wisp burn.
    • Riolu/Murkrow ➔ Lucario/Honchkrow: Abuse Prankster for priority status/tailwind on early turns, then evolve on demand to become an offensive sweeper.
    • Vigoroth ➔ Slaking: Fight normally without Truant, and only hit the Evolution Button on the exact turn you need Slaking's 670 BST to nuke something.
  4. Companion Balance Patch (Intimidate Nerf): To prevent Litten ➔ Incineroar from triggering Intimidate twice in a single turn, Intimidate would be nerfed to work like Gen 9 Protean/Libero (activating only once per switch-in/battle). Conversely, you can use the Evolution Button on your own physical attacker to immediately wipe out an opponent's Intimidate drop!

What do you guys think? Which NFE -> Fully Evolved lines would become completely broken under this system, and which low-tier Pokémon would finally see competitive play?

Discussion In theory, could some Pokemon has the ability to give birth to life young?

I know it sounds like a crazy question, but I know that lots of people make “fanart” about the thing but how about we take it literally? if you look at some Pokemon like Delphox for example, it has a very human like Body that could hold a reproductive organs to some degree. It’s like Pokemon breeding but with more action. But could they have live young like humans do?

Discussion Powerhouse Pokemon Candidates from Each Generation

Powerhouse Pokémon are the official classification for any Pokémon that has a base stat total of 600 and are what the fanbase used to refer to as pseudo legendaries like Dragonite and Metagross. In Generation 9, Duraludon broke the previous trend of these Pokémon being exclusively brand new three stage lines by getting a cross gen evolution with Archaludon that gave it a base stat total of 600, making it a pseudo legendary by technicality even though it doesn’t follow every rule set by the first eight generations.

I thought it could be an interesting thought experiment to come up with one Pokémon from each generation that I think is deserving of getting a cross-gen evolution that would give it a BST of 600, and I specifically chose Pokemon that haven’t gotten a mega evolution or Gigantamax form in the past, although one of them did already get a regional form but I still think it’s the best candidate from that particular region so I went with it anyway.

However, since Gen 8 was already represented with Archaludon I instead decided to go down to picking only 8 Pokémon from Gens 1-7 plus Generation 9, only to decide that a pair of Pokémon from Gen 1 were equally fitting of getting a new powerhouse evolution, bringing the total back up to 9. I’ve come up with new type combinations and abilities for some of these Pokémon, but for others I only changed their stat spreads. I initially wanted to come up with a new name for each evolution, but struggled with some of them so in the end I just decided that I’ll be giving a brief explanation for why I chose each Pokémon at the end of each section.

Without further ado, here are my picks for which Pokémon from each generation would be most deserving of getting a cross gen powerhouse evolution:

____________________________________________________________________________________

Gen 1: Omastar

Type: Water/Steel

Abilities: Swift Swim/Shell Armor/Filter

HP: 100 (+30)

Attack: 90 (+30)

Defense: 135 (+10)

Sp. Attack: 135 (+20)

Sp. Defense: 100 (+30)

Speed: 40 (-15)

The other gen 1 fossil Pokemon often get overshadowed by Aerodactyl, who got a mega evolution back in Gen 6 while Omastar and Kabutops still got nothing even after Legends Z-A, so I thought they were both the most deserving of getting the powerhouse treatment in the future, as they would get an extra +5 over Aerodactyl since they each only have 495 as their base stat totals without taking into account any potential subtractions from certain stats.

For Omastar, I decided that I wanted it to be the slower, more tankier one out of the two, hence why Filter replaced Weak Armor as its hidden ability and why I replaced its rock type with steel. However, to balance its increased defenses I subtracted 15 from its speed so that it wouldn’t be able to use Swift Swim quite as effectively without needing to use shell smash or other methods to increase its speed first, potentially putting it in danger of taking extra damage.

____________________________________________________________________________________

Gen 1: Kabutops

Type: Water/Bug

Abilities: Swift Swim/Battle Armor/Sharpness

HP: 90 (+30)

Attack: 135 (+20)

Defense: 115 (+10)

Sp. Attack: 90 (+30)

Sp. Defense: 100 (+30)

Speed: 65 (-15)

While Kabutops still got a subtraction of 15 in its speed it still would be able to make decent use of Swift Swim, and if not Sharpness would be an incredible ability coming off of its new base 135 in attack, being able to use STAB moves like X-Scissor and Razor Shell more effectively along with a bit of extra bulk making it a more well rounded Pokémon all around.

____________________________________________________________________________________

Gen 2: Lanturn

Type: Water/Electric

Abilities: Volt Absorb/Lightning Rod/Water Absorb

HP: 145 (+20)

Attack: 68 (+10)

Defense: 98 (+40)

Sp. Attack: 96 (+20)

Sp. Defense: 116 (+40)

Speed: 77 (+10)

The name of the game with Lanturn here was to make it a bulkier Pokémon that’s designed to take in electric type attacks to boost its special attack to set up a potential sweep while still being able to take hits pretty well. To balance this out I gave it middling speed so that it’ll likely have to move second whether the opponent is naturally fast or uses Trick Room and 10 points in its useless attack stat to hold it back a bit from being too overpowered of a deep sea terror.

____________________________________________________________________________________

Gen 3: Tropius

Type: Grass/Dragon

Abilities: Chlorophyll/Solar Power/Harvest

HP: 129 (+30)

Attack: 78 (+10)

Defense: 113 (+30)

Sp. Attack: 92 (+20)

Sp. Defense: 117 (+30)

Speed: 71 (+20)

Tropius is arguably the most underrated pick here, but I could genuinely see it working as a powerhouse evolution if given the right design, since its a tropical dinosaur and all, which is also why I gave it the dragon type. I went for a more bulky stat spread to make up for its 4x weakness to ice, but on the plus side it can now take better advantage of Chlorophyll and Solar Power in the sun due to it no longer being weak to fire, which is also why its special attack and speed are better in practice than they look, and why I kept its abilities the same as in its base form.

____________________________________________________________________________________

Gen 4: Spiritomb

Type: Ghost/Dark

Abilities: Pressure/Infiltrator

HP: 75 (+25)

Attack: 107 (+15)

Defense: 138 (+30)

Sp. Attack: 107 (+15)

Sp. Defense: 138 (+30)

Speed: 35

Spiritomb seemed like the most fitting Pokémon of Gen 4 to get a powerhouse evolution due to how elusive it already is to catch, but I wasn’t exactly sure what the best way of handling it would be, as it might actually end up being a similar case to Porygon-2 now where Eviolite Spiritomb is better than its powerhouse evolution. I could’ve swapped its offenses and defenses to make it a strong mixed attacker, but that didn’t seem in line with Spiritomb’s base design so I ultimately went with a bulkier build that got a bit of added offenses but remained slow as to not be too overpowered, but this is ultimately the spread that I’m most unsure about.

____________________________________________________________________________________

Gen 5: Zoroark

Type: Dark/Fairy

Abilities: Illusion/Disguise\*

HP: 70 (+10)

Attack: 120 (+15)

Defense: 70 (+10)

Sp. Attack: 140 (+20)

Sp. Defense: 70 (+10)

Speed: 130 (+25)

Zoroark is the only pick in this post that already got an extra form with a regional form, but since those aren’t as final as mega evolutions I still think that adding a third stage on Zoroark wouldn’t feel so out of place. I decided to spread its stat increases somewhat equally throughout with a slight preference towards its offenses and speed so that it can now more effectively confuse the opponent with its coverage and illusion ability, which is made even more useful now with its dual fairy typing making it immune to dragon. It also now has Mimikyu’s signature ability as a hidden ability to make it potentially survive an extra hit if it doesn’t manage to knock out its opponent.

____________________________________________________________________________________

Gen 6: Gogoat

Type: Grass/Ground

Abilities: Sap Sipper/Grass Pelt

HP: 140 (+17)

Attack: 130 (+30)

Defense: 82 (+20)

Sp. Attack: 97

Sp. Defense: 101 (+20)

Speed: 50 (-18)

Kalos really didn’t have many options for powerhouse Pokémon with it adding the smallest amount of new Pokémon out of any region in the series, but Gogoat was included on Geeta’s team in Scarlet and Violet and had a major focus as transportation in Kalos so I feel like its iconic enough to warrant getting a new evolution over most other Kalos Pokémon. It got a mostly defensive upgrade, with its 82 defense being deceptive since Grass Pelt boosts it by 50%, and its incredible 130 attack stat can be further increased on switch in to a grass move via Sap Sipper, giving it better use of its abilities than its previous form at the cost of a slight hit to its speed.

____________________________________________________________________________________

Gen 7: Turtonator

Type: Fire/Dragon

Abilities: Anger Shell

HP: 90 (+30)

Attack: 88 (+10)

Defense: 165 (+30)

Sp. Attack: 106 (+15)

Sp. Defense: 115 (+30)

Speed: 36

Turtonator is another overlooked Pokémon that I feel deserves more time in the spotlight, and especially now that it missed out on an opportunity to get a mega evolution because of Drampa in Z-A it makes more sense than ever to give it another evolution to make it stand out over the other more iconic fire turtle in Torkoal. I gave it a lot of extra bulk, but it serves a dual purpose with its new ability Anger Shell replacing Shell Armor, previously exclusive to Klawf. This lowers the user’s defense stats upon going below half HP but boosts its offenses and speed, which could prove to be deadly alongside a Shell Smash allowing it to effectively boost its attack and speed stats by three stages in a single turn while not immediately taking the downsides of its lowered defenses since it’ll likely move after the opponent knocks its HP below half, making a previously underwhelming Pokémon a serious threat.

____________________________________________________________________________________

Gen 9: Cyclizar

Type: Steel/Dragon

Abilities: Full Metal Body/Regenerator

HP: 101 (+31)

Attack: 80 (-15)

Defense: 105 (+40)

Sp. Attack: 80 (-5)

Sp. Defense: 105 (+40)

Speed: 121

Cyclizar is easily the Pokémon that deserves a powerhouse evolution the most, as the two box art legendaries for Scarlet and Violet are literally paradox forms of Cyclizar, but Cyclizar itself is somewhat underwhelming in comparison to them. Giving it a powerhouse evolution that flips the script and gives it the classic Serperior build of high defenses and speed but relatively low attack would make it a Pokémon that’s very difficult to knock out, especially with its Regenerator ability allowing for it to heal HP upon switch out and its new base ability, Full Metal Body (previously exclusive to Solgaleo) making it completely immune to status moves, being a strict upgrade over Shed Skin. In the end, if any Pokémon deserves a powerhouse evolution and we strictly follow the precedent set by Archaludon, then I think that Cyclizar might be the most likely candidate to get one, even if I might prefer the gen 1 fossils or Zoroark to get one first personally.

____________________________________________________________________________________

And there you have it. I’d be interested in hearing your thoughts on my picks for Pokémon that deserve powerhouse evolutions as well as which Pokémon you think would fit or are most deserving of getting one in the comments below.

I'm Tired of Pokémon selling websites and

I've Recently been replaying Scarlet and Sometimes I catch an extra Pokémon I don't need. So I go to Surprise Trade and try to give it away, only for someone to send their bought and paid for Illegal shiny!

Doesn't this feel like Pokémon trafficking to anyone else? And why is Nintendo just letting people sell and buy them? They shut down a hobbyist selling known unofficial products for less.

It just feels wrong. People work hard training Pokémon and hunting Shinies just for someone to go out and Buy one Shiny fully trained one with a special Pokeball.

Discussion Pokemon is for the “kids”

Alright for starters I’m nearly 30 so this is coming from a guy who has grown up with pokemon since it’s been around. I hear this excuse a ton when it comes to regarding the amount of Pokemon i buy for myself “what about the kids” “save some for the kids” my literal response to that is “what kids?” I want us to all come to a reality check for a second here I’m gonna go off on a limb and say the majority of the folks in this Reddit group are pushing 30 or past it. Hence the newest set lol 30th pokemon has been around for 30 years. It’s grown in value grown in popularity it’s become more then just a kids game now that’s largely due to our generation the generation that grew up with it. We all have jobs now and with that money to spare to fund our hobby a hobby we use to make our parents fund for us when they didn’t even know what it was. I want you to ask yourself the last time you stood in line at a Best Buy or caught a target restock even how many kids did you see? I mean really how many? Was it less then 20 10 even? Now ask yourself self how many mid 20s to mid 30s did you see? If it’s over 90% 85% even then this kids excuse is invalid. I think we need to wake up and realize the only reason pokemon is where it is today is because of us im not saying that no kids whats so ever sent into it. Yes i know there are some but they are definitely not the majority. It my honest opinion it will die with us. Pokemon was a thing i got myself into as a kid it wasnt something my 35 year old dad forced on me when i was 8 because he was into it nah my dad watched nascar and smoked cigars and threw a ball with me. So when you say “save some for the kids” i think we all oughta come to realize there ain’t many kids to save Pokemon for.

Question/Request Which Nitendo DS?

Hello! I'm a fairly young and new pokemon gen. Since I could barely do addition when the last ds pokemon game was made... I have no clue how any of it works! Which brings me to my question:

What Nintendo DS console should I get?

I want to have the widest array of pokemon games available to me (although I'm totally biased in wanting Black and White, they look so cool). I've done some research and was leaning towards the Nintendo 3DS but then I found an article saying the DS Lite was better and now I'm just confused. I've never been good with technology.

Please help me, far wiser humans. I'll take any advice.
