How do y'all test ovulation twice a day? I can't wait 4 hours to do a test in-between morning and afternoon/evening. I'm a very hydrated person. I'm having fertile CM. I'm definitely in my window.

I usually do midmorning around 10-11 and evening after 6pm

u/m0nster6884 Jul 26 '26
I don't have an answer for you but I am currently trying to confirm my ovulations.. what method are you using here that you're asking about? This isn't ringing any bells for familiarity for me

Is it possible to ovulate on CD21? Similarly, is it possible to ovulate on CD21 when there was a positive LH reading on CD14?
On this note, my temperature seems to confirm ovulation most months, but it is always much later than the positive LH reading. Ranging 4-7 days post positive LH strip (my understanding is you should ovulate 24-48 hours post-positive) Anyone have any insight on why this might be happening?

Do you keep lh testing after your positive?
1
u/m0nster6884 Jul 27 '26
Last month I did, actually. I had done three total in a 24 hour span. One in the morning that coooould have been positive, but then I did another a few hours later to see if I could get a stronger positive. I did. Then the next morning I took another and it was negative.

Does anyone know if there’s any correlation to ovulation day/ level of libido?
Have had such a high sex drive and tested positive this morning on CD10. Looks like a peak lunchtime.
Just curious if it means much. I was going to BBT this cycle by my youngest sleeps terrible and it seemed too late to even attempt.

u/AriesCherie Jul 26 '26
Absolutely! My libido is super high this cycle especially. This was my first month doing Letrozole and I'm in my window and it's been a daily BD. Honestly I've been trying to get at my husband a couple times a day right now haha.
2
u/monchrome_cat 35 | TTC#3 Jul 26 '26
Hahaha. I find it so intriguing - it’s been so long since I’ve had SUCH a high libido and then it dropped off this morning and I felt bloated and a bit ugh.

u/Closed_System 32 | TTC#2 | cycle 7 | 1MC Jul 25 '26
Yes definitely a correlation between the fertile window and libido! Caused by the same thing that leads to EWCM production: estrogen. If you're asking if it's more specific to ovulation day in particular, I don't think it's that exact.

u/monchrome_cat 35 | TTC#3 Jul 26 '26
Thank you. I was intrigued if the rise of libido is connected to ovulation by the body signalling the want.

Should 7dpo progesterone levels ideally be at a certain threshold? I've read that progesterone should be >10 at 7dpo to support pregnancy, but my OB's office is telling me that >5 means ovulation occured and there's otherwise no point in monitoring it. Mine was 6, so it seems low to me, but I'm being told it's not an issue. Any insight?

u/pattituesday 45 | DOR | lots of IVF | losses | grad Jul 25 '26
My RE never measured my progesterone levels after O other than to check for ovulation (as in, yes/no did I ovulate, or before a monitored cycle to see if O was approaching). Yes, lots of people (including REs) give progesterone support in the luteal phase because it’s thought that it can help and probably won’t hurt.

u/NicasaurusRex 37F | Unexplained Infertility | IVF Grad Jul 25 '26 edited Jul 25 '26
Progesterone fluctuates a lot in the luteal phase so a single blood draw doesn’t really tell you if it’s “enough” to support a pregnancy. Thats why your OB is saying that the only thing it can tell you is if you ovulated.
It’s also important to mention that should implantation occur, HCG will signal the corpus luteum to produce more progesterone to support the pregnancy. So there’s not really a need for levels to be at a certain number prior to that.

What is the alleged mucinex trick? You do take it during all of ovulation? (Assuming it’s otherwise a safe medication for you to take) I feel like it’s worth a shot?
2
u/m0nster6884 Jul 26 '26
I screenshotted someone talking about this ages ago and just went and found it in my phone, this is what they said (also thanks for the reminder I'm going to also be trying this):
"buy the 600 mg kind, take 1 in the morning and 1 about an hour before having sex."
Someone below that comment asked if there's benefits to taking it for some time before/after and someone else chimed in and said they had "two mucinex babies" and they would take it about a week before ovulating and up until a few days after.
Obviously this isn't going to work for everyone, but if your issue is that your cervical mucus isn't thick enough this might be a great trick for you.

Tw: living child
I had a C-section with my first baby in January 2025.
Are there any sort of issues a c section can cause while TTC #2 with either the sperm and egg meeting or implantation outside of implantation in the scar tissue? There were not any issues even though it was unplanned. Just want to know what to be on the lookout for!
Thanks!

u/NicasaurusRex 37F | Unexplained Infertility | IVF Grad Jul 25 '26
My understanding is that there is potential for there to be a pocket in the scar that traps fluid and lowers implantation rates (look into isthmocele). This happens if the scar doesn’t heal properly. May be worth checking out on SIS or hysteroscopy if you are having trouble.
Also, you are at higher risk for adenomyosis after having a c section because of cutting into the uterine wall. It is a common cause for secondary infertility, so that’s something else that might be worth looking into.

Appreciate this. We're very early in the process currently but I wanted a heads up on anything to watch out for. I don't think I am having any adeno symptoms from a cursory Google search but I'll keep an eye on it.
Thanks!

I was told that unless your c-section had complications that you would have known about — like infection, or having been a classical cut (like to get out a very premature baby), there’s no reason to think a c section would impact future fertility.

Hello! I need some help. I’m 25 and my husband is 27. We have been TTC for 3 years now. I got all my testing done through a fertility specialist and everything came back great. Prolactin, no PCOS, bloodwork immaculate except for slightly lower vitamin D. My ultrasounds were great as well. The only problem is that my cycles are not regular at all. They can range (when I’m eating healthy, food intolerances and such) 30 days to 40+ days. I noticed they were more regular when I was taking supplements from my holistic doctor but that got expensive very quickly.
My husband on the other hand got his SA done and was diagnosed with teratozoospermia. He is going to the urologist in two weeks. I wasn’t sure if this is a preventable thing?
Anyways….thank you so much for reading and I was wondering if anyone could put their two cents in to see what may be going on between the both of us! TIA 😊

u/pattituesday 45 | DOR | lots of IVF | losses | grad Jul 25 '26
Hi! I’m not sure I understand your question. Are you wondering why you’ve experienced infertility? Or why your partner is going to the urologist? Or something else?

u/Whole_Expert_4840 Jul 25 '26
What other causes could I have for my infertility and reasons my husband is diagnosed with teratozoospermia
1
u/pattituesday 45 | DOR | lots of IVF | losses | grad Jul 25 '26
We dealt with low morphology (which might be the same as terazoospermia? I honestly don’t know). My RE said there’s nothing lifestyle wise that can be done about it and they’re not sure why some people have it and some don’t.
As for the cause of your infertility, you may end up being in the unexplained category, which is where we were. Depending on the other results of your semen analysis, you may be dealing with MFI
Editing to add: you mention food sensitivities. Do you have any autoimmune conditions? Sometimes those can increase your odds of infertility.

u/Whole_Expert_4840 Jul 25 '26
Thank you for sharing! It’s very insightful especially someone else who’s going through it too. I went to a holistic doctor and got a blood test to see what foods make me inflamed. I don’t have an autoimmune disease but my doctor said sometimes when your body is so inflamed it can cause cycles to become irregular

I'm in the middle of the tww for cycle 7. We've had so much testing done so far due to my age - day 3 labs, ultrasound, hyfosy, and an SA.
My biggest question right now is how big of a factor is vaping and kratom use on sperm dna fragmentation? I know only a test can answer that but has anyone here seen improvement after cutting back or stopping vaping, for example?
2
u/Drenzas Jul 25 '26
It causes inflammation and dna fragmentation if it’s anything like alcohol. The list of things they say to avoid is on there for a reason. I only know because my partner stopped drinking and his motility literally doubled. I wasn’t expecting such a vast improvement. We were definitely downplaying some of the effects.

u/ExtremeTime4702 Jul 25 '26
My husband did a sperm analysis today and he is worried the produce he did would be weird and abnormal. As the squirts were sparse
1
u/pattituesday 45 | DOR | lots of IVF | losses | grad Jul 25 '26
This happened to my husband once! He missed the first part, which apparently has the most sperm. And his count came back lower than expected. He did it again and it was normal the next time.
If there’s a problem with an initial semen analysis, standard protocol is to repeat and see if second one is same or better.

u/Drenzas Jul 25 '26
They only need a few drops I think. They say to abstain for a few days for this reason though.

Dumbest question ever incoming -
I’m getting a TVS done on what will be 10DPO to investigate potential endo and/or fibroids. Would they be able to see if I’ve conceived/implanted at that point?

u/NicasaurusRex 37F | Unexplained Infertility | IVF Grad Jul 25 '26
Nope. The earliest anything can be seen on ultrasound is at about 5 weeks pregnant, or around 21DPO.

Hi everyone ! I’ve been a passive scroller in these communities but I find myself in need of a little bit of encouragement. My partner and I have been trying for a baby and I thought the process was super easy and quickly learned it’s not . We are having temporary logistic issues that make seeing each other consistently a bit hard .
This cycle (July 7-9) my period was cut a bit short (3 days instead of 5) after having sex with my man on Day 2 . I was intentional about planning and tracked my ovulation all the way to my LH surge (around 1 PM on Day 13) and had sex within 12 to 14 hours (1-3 AM) . Then I seemed to have ovulated right after that - bc the next morning (around 9 AM) my surge was already falling .
I’m only DPO 5 so I’m not asking testing questions since early testing and symptom farming give me such anxiety. I just wanted to know the success rate for this timing & if I should get my hopes up . TIA ! 🤎

u/developmentalbiology MOD | 42 Jul 25 '26
The day of the first positive LH test is 1-2 days before ovulation for most people, so having sex on that day results in pregnancy about 25-30% of the time (which represents the best odds you can have for the cycle).
Just for your own information going forward, it actually doesn't matter how long your period was (the length of your period doesn't affect when ovulation happens), and having a negative LH test after a positive one doesn't establish when and whether ovulation happened.
1
u/Significant_Age_ Jul 25 '26
Ok! So my chances are very good off just that one try?? I keep seeing that we should be having sex leading up to ovulation & I was nervous bc we literally only had that one day.
Thank you for clearing that up about my period timing . I’ve gotten a lot of information and it’s hard to know what’s fact from fiction sometimes .2

Yes, hitting one of the three days before ovulation maxes out your odds for that cycle.

u/markwools99 Jul 25 '26
Hello. Just wondering how much other guys diets have changed with foods and supplements when trying to get partner pregnant? What have you been introducing and taking? Or just keeping it normal?
1
u/monchrome_cat 35 | TTC#3 Jul 25 '26
My husband started with supplements. He took nothing until we hit cycle 5ish. He now takes NAC, L-cartinate now he’s working out, vitamin d, coq10 and a fertility men’s one.
As for diet- he’s recently started working out again, and has switched out a huge chunk of his sugar intake (no chocolate, two fizzy drink a week) and we generally are eating much healthier with more veg. The way I look at it a it’s more of a lifestyle choice we / he needed for his own well being rather than purely for TTC

I have a post about this!
There's not much evidence in favor of most supplements or diets in terms of increasing pregnancy rates or reducing pregnancy-related complications or fetal/child health issues. If you're eating a healthful diet in general and getting the nutrients you need, you're doing great.

A friendly reminder that questions asked in this post must still follow TFAB rules. You may not ask if you are pregnant, you may not ask for pregnancy success stories, and you may not talk about a current pregnancy. No, not even in a sneaky, roundabout way.
Thank you!
