Y'all. The Ocarina remake looks amazing. Honestly, I'm so excited for this. I'm over the complaints I had about the artstyle; it - as I knew it would - looks amazing in action.

But I am still thrown by just how shiny everyone is when wet. LOOK at my boy's face here. Look at his fingers. Bro looks like he had a clearcoat accident.

EDIT - Y'all. I get that it's raining. That's...why I'm talking about how they look when wet? My point is that they look slimy instead of actually wet. That's not how wet skin looks, it's not that glossy.

Maybe giving too much credit to Nintendo, but I think it's an intentional attempt to mimic wet puppetry. The art direction is pretty reminiscent of puppet theatre - especially shows like Thunderbolt Fantasy and Shin Sanjushi).

Puppets aren't as big as humans, any water on them is proportionately thicker and appears more viscous.

At least, that's my theory on it.

The video talking about puppet theater made so many things click for me. Seeing the three musketeers one made me just go, WTF these are straight up twilight princess and Skyward sword NPCs.

Instantly made me far more understanding of the choices taken with the OOT remake.

Yeah, that's the scene in Kakariko where Ongo Bongo breaks free from the well and beats up both Link and Sheik. It's definitely raining then.

EDIT: My mistake. It is in fact this scene, but it starts raining after it happens in the original.

I think my take is environment an monsters look great characters look a bit weird. But hey its ocarina of time so it will mostly likely be good. Probably not going to get it since I kinda want a bit more than visual stuff in my remakes but this seems to be enough for most people ive talked too.

Alright so, hot take, as a whole I do not like Zelda games. Only ones I actually enjoyed were Wind Waker, Link to the Past and Four Swords/Adventures

So it makes me grumbly for no reason, haha
