Better Ask Reddit Switch game question
Alright so my current thing is getting switch games for my switch 2. Naturally I would prefer having the real copies in my hand since well. Things are getting kinda concerning.
Now I don’t want the game key cards cause it’s just a licensee to download the game and not the actual games.
So my current thing is this. Some games that have released on the switch 2 are game key cards unlike when they were on switch 1.
So would it be better to get the switch 1 versions and upgrade them later? Or just download digitally

Some switch 1 games (Namely Digimon story time stranger and I think Sparking Zero) will act as the switch 2 version, most are just the switch 1 version. it's a really confusing case by case basis.
Look if the games have any upgrade paths and go from there, if they do, switch 1 100%.

iirc games that have a 10$ upgrade usually cost 10$ less on switch 1, so its the same thing, but I would double check since the switch 2 hates consistancy...

I agree with everyone else that it's kind of case by case. You're going to need to do your research.

So it's basically a question of whether playing at 30 FPS bothers you or not. Because for example:FF resonance looks pretty great on Switch 1 (with boost mode and all) but does lack the frame rate upgrade to 60. And there is also the factor that any game that has "Switch 2 edition" in the title will have everything on cart as an upgrade from the switch 1 game, no exceptions while anything else is a case by case thing

I mean boost mode is great (I use it for Diablo 3) but it sure doesn't do anything for docked play if you like using a decent controller and your tv (see also the blurry as fuck docked Diablo 3).

You kinda have to check game by game, since different companies handle it totally differently. Some games have free upgrades (hollow knight), some cost like 10 dollars (xenoblade), and some have no upgrade patch at all, and you have to buy the game a second time for the switch 2 version (almost every square enix release).
