After the last album, after bono's surgery and a lot of reflection with death, 10 years later, this album feels somewhat like making peace with retirement. But making music is all these guys know what to do. Do you think this is it for U2 in a while? What are your thoughts after hearing "The Greatest show on Earth"? This last single seemed like coming to terms with them not being as relevant and (both politics and music-wise) world changing as before.

In those days, you could go early and get into the golden ring (that´s how I got that close)

PS: I used AI to remove a hand from the audience

PS2: I took that picture with some cellphone, most likely a Sonny ericsson

Apologies if this has been discussed. I really like the new song - it’s probably my favourite for a number of years actually, but I couldn’t help but feeling that the title is almost a bit of a slight lament about how they very much were the greatest show on earth, for a good number of years - Zoo TV, Popmart, 360 to name a few

I found that when watching the video particularly, the shot of Bono singing the refrain was really quite emotional.

Past recent favourites for myself have been Sleep like a baby tonight, every breaking wave, summer of love, the little things, ordinary love, invisible. I love the really cathartic side of the band

Now you have the lyrics, what is this song about ?
Share your interpretations of the song.

Hi

For those of us fortunate to be going to Mexico City to be rocked and rolled at the end of February, if there are any current / former residents who could suggest some sights and delights not to be missed from a tourist standpoint that would be appreciated.

Also, what would you recommend in terms of number of days for a visit as we are formulating travel plans.

It’ll be our first time in the country and city. We are so excited to be going and a local perspective would be much appreciated.

Muchas Gracias, and hope to see many of you there!

I thought I would share this article. It doesn't go into much detail, but it's hinting at restrictions with using the National Stadium in Santiago as a reason why a deal could not be made for U2 on The Greatest Show On Earth Tour in 2027.

It does not seem to rule out a possible return later in the tour, if they do another leg in South America, but that's my interpretation. My fingers are crossed for all the amigos in Chile.

¡Sal-U2 a todos!

Original report from La Tercera

https://www.latercera.com/culto/noticia/u2-no-incluye-a-chile-en-su-nueva-gira-por-latinoamerica-de-2027/

seems to be print only. very positive. only negatives mentioned were some cringe lyrics in Mirror Maker.

Most underrated album = POP. Runner up is zooropa. These are still u2 at their creative apex.

Most overrated album = ATYCLB. Still good but a big drop off from their 80s and 90s peak.

Most underrated song = sometimes you can’t make it on your own. I think this album had some great individual tracks.

Most underrated album. Consistent with the above, HTDAAB. I think this is their best album this century, though it doesn’t match their classics.

What's your interpretation of these lyrics?

Once again, U2 continues to prove to the world (and me) that they are the most timeless musical act in history!!!! Literally speaking: They are the greatest show on earth. My family just listened to it for the first time, and my brother brought up a point that made me very happy - It sounded like a b-side that finally made an album. He didn’t mean that as an insult. He knows how much I obsess over U2’s back catalog and heard a lot of similarities to other timeless songs. Him and I started naming songs that sound like TGSOE predecessors:

- Disappearing Act
- Wave of Sorrow (Birdland)
- Luckiest Man in the World
- Book of Your Heart
- Song for Hal

While we probably will never hear any of these songs or other b-sides/extras on stage (as badly as I wish we could), they will all live through this newly released single, The Greatest Show on Earth. I cannot wait for this tour to arrive.

I have so many questions about the video!!

First let's start with iconography:

What do these represent?

Umbrella

Cross

Neon moon

Astronaut suit

Church window

Plus in the background there's a leafless tree and the sun

Masks

The wedding

The show cart

The part where the three have beards...

Anyone??

I'm thinking various songs (Mysterious Ways, Window in the Sky); tours or albums not called out in the tour poster (360 - astronaut, cross - October).

Seen u2 three times. Last at the sphere. Do you think they will do sphere again or pass for stadium tours only? Is it worth it to join the fan club for presale codes? I really don’t want to pay $600 for stadium tickets (but I would pay 300-400 for the sphere again)

Okay, I have to admit it: I’m absolutely obsessed with U2 T-shirts, and one of my personal goals is to have a wardrobe full of them.

The problem is:

• The official merch just isn’t good enough.
• The website with the BEST U2 T-shirts is Brazilian (look at that ZOO TV T SHIRT)

Does anyone know of a website or a company in Europe that makes U2 T-shirts at this level of quality?

THANKS!

And let's not hear another arrogant, armchair critic comment that Bono's best lyric writing days are behind him.

Anyone else immediately think that U2 looked like they were dressed up very similar to the band Ghost in the GSOE video? Edge, Adam and Larry are wearing masks very similar to the Namesless Ghouls in the Skeleta tour era and Bono with the top hat and mask covering his eyes looks pretty similar to some of pictures of Papa V.

It’s particularly interesting because I always thought that one of the images of Papa IV from the Rite Here Rite Now video, where he’s wearing a gold blazer and staring at himself in mirror backstage reminded me of Mephisto from the Zoo TV video.

I wonder if their costume artists have done this on purpose.

I think bono’s delivery could’ve been better if he had done a couple of more takes, especially the first half of the song.. I felt like this song would be much better vocally if Brandon flowers were on vocals.. what are you guys think?

U2 have released the 3rd single from their upcoming album and for me it’s 3 for 3. They are 3 great songs and it feels like they are back to their best. I love to see it after they struggled with making new music for quite a few years in my opinion.
Really loved their EPs earlier this year too and delighted to see they have kept that momentum going. Looking forward to a tour announcement now

Reading the FAQs, it says your U2.com account and Ticketmaster account emails must match exactly to access the pre-sale. A little while back, I updated my U2.com account to a newer email I've been using, but Ticketmaster has temporarily blocked my ability to change my email, and I can't change it on U2.com.

I'm really worried, as I'm a Feedback member and have never missed a pre-sale in 21 years. I understand TM do things to stop scalpers, but something as simple as updating an email should be allowed.

I'm waiting for the European dates anyway, so hopefully I have enough time to sort this, but I like to have everything in place and ready, so this is really stressing me out.
