Question Transferring universities
OK, so I'm an undergraduate 1st year at UCD studying BA Humanities and realized only two months in I absolutely hate my course and the commute is a pain in the ass. Also, just dealing with some mental health problems in general which already makes me dread going since my friends go to DCU and UCD is so far I spend 4 hours a day commuting also just completely lost all motivation and genuine interest for any of my classes like only one class I still like but if I'm going to be here for 4 years I'd want to actually be interested in wtf I'm studying
I've already missed a few of my tutorials and maybe this is just me judging too fast but I really don't think I'm going to finish 4 years of this, I wanted to transfer to dcu since it's way closer and they've got a course there that I'm interested in but if I'm going to do advanced entry year 2 then I'd have to rlly lock in to get my full credits and pass all my exams but then again I'm tempted to drop out but I also don't wanna waste 10 months or a year doing fuck all just to start studying at dcu
Any ideas??

I had this 2 years ago. I left and reapplied through the cao and am in a college way closer and a course i love. Tbh if you hate the course is there a point doing exams? Reapplying ik is a long wait but it means u can start fresh and not miss any time in dcu but u could work and get experience and stuff

Don’t panic. Talk to the UCD advice teams / student supports and me honest with how you feel. They may be able to change things within your course (modules / electives).
Although your friends are in DCU, take this seemingly intimidating opportunity to make new friends in UCD. Meet people in the gym, the bar and try out sports teams or societies.
I was in your situation and dropped out of college and didn’t go back until I turned 27 last year. One of my regrets was not speaking about it with UCD and making more of an effort to create a new social circle for myself in college.
I wish you the best of luck

I also commute 4 hours and felt this exact way at the start of my degree, I’m now in my final year and the feeling did pass. I also had little motivation to come in and just felt like I’d rather not waste my time on buses. I have to say so long as you keep up with workload at home and attend as you can you could pass the year with a decent grade and give it a go. It can be tough but I would take the year and do advanced entry , you’re going to waste a year waiting regardless if you drop out now so you might aswell waste the year attempting to give it your best go you’ll be suprised how well you can do! Coming from someone once in your shoes don’t lose all hope yet !
