Look Iām a UCLA fan, but itās insane how despite how many penalties UCLA has had, the refs have still helped us so much

Aight im in on Ty, heās shown what I needed to see, he can make big plays, not ruin drives, and most importantly he has the sauce. Ofc heās not perfect and there will be good and bad games, but a lot of teams seasons would be ruined losing the starting QB, heāll keep out chances to do some special things alive

I actually feel better about the QB than I did when Nico was healthy. Nico is a baller. But his weaknesses were holding us back.

Kid's poise is impressive. Lotta eyes on the team these days
2
u/Personal_Corner_6113 40m ago
Crazy how confident he seems, no nerves stepping in as the starter, going for big plays, and celebrating loud on the sidelines.
2
u/wallysmith127 21m ago
What an incredible backstory on the dude. Loved that Chesney's staff targeted him out of HS too.
Lotta goodwill towards Chesney and the program these days. Win or lose it seems like Chesney is a standup guy that makes it easy to root for him.

Yep, Iām happy weāre performing how we are but even more happy about Cheney and the programs direction and vibe.

Not to beat the kid up but there is a reason he was third string. Playing a solid half is different than playing a full game or season.

Wisconsin has figured out their play calling. Bruins are gonna have to be a lot more unpredictable to pull this one out. Hope the defense holds here.

That 16 yd sack where he's running the wrong way is a reminder that this guy was a scrub until last week.

Not trying to be negative, we look great but maybe our pass game isnāt incredible because we are putting slot receivers at wide out and are throwing them contested balls? Keep the slots in the slot and get the 6ā4 receiver that we never play for some reason out on the fieldā¦

Wisconsin fans in the main sub already claiming this game is rigged.

Are you watching the game? There have been four missed calls all in your favor that have led to points for you. I donāt know about rigged, but this shit is horrible that far.

Are you watching the game? Not gonna get very far calling inside zone on a stacked box on 2nd and long.

3

Face palming at that decision. I know our defense is good but why take the risk.
2
u/Virtual_Success5530 Coach Chesney 2h ago
Aggressive. I donāt mind it. But yeah they have an interesting 4th down decision now.
4
u/FlounderJealous2591 Bruins Alumni 2h ago
Exactly! Get the defense off the field and keep it moving!

Iām so conditioned to expect balls to be tipped at the line on every pass play. This is nice
3
u/SeaPattern7376 Bruins Alumni 3h ago
Instant Analysis:
play calling is slow, Ty is not getting long ball shots, field is short and seems to have him on a tight leash. Wisconsin knows and is crowding the box.
So those out passes to the flat are majority of our plays.
3
u/SeaPattern7376 Bruins Alumni 3h ago
Ty just letting it rip to the seam, nice! Seems we can catch the defense with the crowding of the box.

its the internet. You have no impact on these guys playing. Go watch the game.

u/innesk8r4life 4h ago
Based on what, does Wisconsin even have the offense to put up 35 against us? Theyāve only had those kind of offensive numbers against FCS opponentsā¦

u/foomgaLife 4h ago
Based on what? Being a Bruin for 50 years.
1
u/innesk8r4life 3h ago
Classic Battered Bruin Syndrome. Itās ok youāll come around.

u/foomgaLife 3h ago
I'll believe it when I see it. Sure, I saw the Knicks finally do it.
But UCLA Football? Ha!
I was there for the good years. The Terry Donahue years. That was my guy.
I remember the Cade years. I remember all the almost games. The E for Effort games.
So we shall see, my friend. We shall see.

This was the best team weāll play until Michigan. If the team keeps taking care of business we could be 10-0 going into the final two games of the season.

Crowd wonāt be great (it takes a year or two for ppl to get fully bought in) and Wisconsin travels well. Oh well, win anyways! If we lose itās because of our injuries on pass defense. We wonāt lose because of our QB.
4
u/otoverstoverpt 11h ago
I am nervous but only really because we are so injured right now. I donāt think Wisconsin is actually that good but they are good enough to take advantage of the situation.
Down our QB leaving the pass game unknown and the run game potentially weakened as a result.
Likely down our best CB
Likely down our starting LT
Down our starting safety
And of course our best wide out has been done since like game 2.
Meanwhile it looks like Wisconsin is fully healthy and coming off of a bye.

Hm Iām not so sure about that. Their run defense is not especially good. They are good at stopping explosive plays but not good at generating negative yardage.
Iām not sure how much to trust any of their stats though because a lot of it is inflated against really bad competition. An FCS school, a mid G6 school, the worst B10 school, and then a mid PSU with an anemic offense. The only above average offense they played in ND absolutely shredded them.

Iām confused as to how you figure that performing to their season averages points to Wisconsin having a good defense. That kind of implies that itās just middling. I think they have a decent run defense but that it really isnāt special.

I mean dude they put up 41 points lol.
Itās obviously trivially true that those are the best defenses left, but that doesnāt actually mean much for how good they actually are. Most of the teams left on the schedule just suck.

For fucks sake dude, yes I watched the game. If you thought ND legitimately looked contained by that then you simply do not know ball.
There are plenty of reasons to be concerned, but my point is that Wisconsinās defense has a lot of numbers inflated by a turbo soft schedule so we have a very limited actual sample of their capabilities. Moreover you seem misguided if you think stopping the run is their strength. They have good LB play that is saving them from explosives while in reality their front is not actually all that good so what you see is a lot of short yardage runs but that is exactly the way you can grind a team out if you have a strong run game.
