FinancialAid USC saying they overpaid me in loan and now I owe like 6k in a couple weeks
Iām a grad student on the grad plus loan, so basically USC is saying that when they disbursed my loans back in August, they disbursed 10 credits worth of loans but they just found out Iām in 8 units. The thing is, Iāve always been in 8. I never dropped units. Also, the money for loans is not something i see. That gets paid automatically to the school, and my refund is for my āother costsā in the cost of attendance breakdown such as housing, food, transportation, books, etc.
Not this is where Iām confused. They want me to repay the 6k extra loans from the refund amount but when I looked at my estimated cost of attendance, my refund amount is the same as those other costs (housing, dining, transportation, etc). Paying back the 6k would then leave me with not enough of those things and they want the 6k by next billing period. Every person on the phone I talk to says the same thing that I essentially just need to pay it back, but I feel like they are the ones who messed up and now I am unprepared for this.
Anyone ever deal with this?
