Title: USCIS Rejected My AOS Package Due to Payment Issue – Do I Need to Redo All Forms to Remove My Previous Preparer?
Hi everyone,
My husband and I submitted our marriage-based adjustment of status package (I-130, I-485, I-765, and I-131), but USCIS rejected it due to a payment issue.
We also had some difficulties with the legal advisor who prepared our application, so we no longer want to involve her.
She filled out our forms and signed the preparer sections with her name and contact information. All our personal information is still correct, and we received a green rejection notice from USCIS.
My question is:
Do we need to complete all the USCIS forms again from scratch, or can we simply replace the pages containing her preparer information?
Alternatively, can we attach a separate letter stating that we are now filing independently and no longer using the previous preparer?
Has anyone done this successfully after a USCIS rejection?
We want to avoid filling out everything again unnecessarily while making sure USCIS accepts our resubmission.
Thank you for your help!

Interview English practice: “Come with me” / Práctica de inglés para la entrevista
ENGLISH
Here is a small listening-and-meaning exercise. It is general English practice, not a transcript of an official interview.
“Come with me” asks you to accompany the speaker: go with that person.
Read the same model twice: Come with me. Come with me.
Pause and say it yourself.
Choose the meaning: does the speaker want you to go with them, or to wait where you are?
Answer: go with the speaker. You can practice by having a partner say the phrase and walk a few steps with you.
ESPAÑOL
Este es un ejercicio breve para comprender una expresión en inglés. No es una transcripción de una entrevista oficial.
“Come with me” significa “Ven conmigo”: la persona quiere que la acompañes.
Lee el mismo modelo dos veces: Come with me. Come with me.
Haz una pausa y repite la frase.
Elige el significado: ¿la persona quiere que vayas con ella o que te quedes donde estás?
Respuesta: que vayas con ella. Puedes practicar con alguien que diga la frase y camine unos pasos contigo.

NYC Marriage-Based Interview Took 2 Hours — Officer Discussed Denial. Should I Be Worried?
Hi everyone,
My wife (U.S. citizen) and I had our marriage-based green card interview in NYC on October 16, 2026, and I’m feeling a little anxious about how it went.
The interview lasted almost 2 hours. We were interviewed together, and the officer asked my wife most of the questions about our relationship, marriage, and daily life.
My wife got two questions wrong: the date of one of our trips together and the number of floors in our apartment building. The officer simply wrote down our answers and moved on without commenting.
Toward the end, he asked about my pending asylum application (I-589), my entry through the U.S.–Mexico border in 2022, and my immigration history. He explained that my detention at the border counted as an immigration arrest, corrected my I-485 answer, and asked me to sign the correction.
He also dictated a statement for my wife to write confirming that our marriage is genuine and based on love, not immigration benefits. I signed it.
What worries me most is that the officer spent quite a bit of time explaining what would happen if our case were denied, including mentioning a 30-day period to challenge the decision. He then briefly explained that if approved, the green card could arrive within 4–6 weeks.
At the end, he scanned our documents, returned the originals, and let us leave without giving us any written decision.
Has anyone experienced something similar?
Is it normal for an officer to explain the denial process in detail?
Has anyone been asked to write a statement confirming their marriage is genuine?
Could two incorrect answers seriously affect the outcome?
How long did you wait for a decision after your NYC interview?
Has anyone with a pending I-589 or previous immigration court proceedings gone through this?
I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences. Thank you!

Joint sponsor household size question
Hi everyone! Hopefully not a dumb question… My husband’s 2025 income was too low, so we found a joint sponsor for our marriage-based AOS after getting RFE. We have a strict deadline to provide the evidence.
Our joint sponsor earned $39,000 in 2025, but the income requirement for a household of 4 is $41,250.
He previously sponsored two people who received green cards. One is his relative, and we know they still have a green card. He can’t reach the second person, and someone told him they might have left the US permanently. We don’t know if that’s true, and neither person has become a US citizen as far as we know.
If we list a household size of 3 instead of 4, could this be found out? What could happen if it were determined the household size was incorrect? Cause we are not sure.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Any opinions? Thanks!

Hiii my beautiful Reddit family… i come to share my journey, story or experience with you….whatever you wanna call it.
I been dating my love for five years in November 2026 is our 5 year anniversary.
we dated forever. Never thought we would be getting married, until April 2026, drunk talking we said “lets run away and get marry”…” i said you are not down”….next thing you know we submitted for a marriage certificate, set up a date….and run away and eloped…infront of beautiful strangers clapping for us. We didn’t tell no body.
Im the type of person “que asta que no te pase,no cuentes”….not everyone is happy for you….From the moment we got married until the interview happened i was gathering as much evidence as i could…
What i submitted with my AOS FORMS

Picture of us, hanging out with family and friends
Nooo, we donnot have
•joint lease
•no car insurance together
•no bills under both names
The interview was super chillll, the officer came up to us, and said hi “luis” and “ michelle” how are you this morning? We looked at him 🧐🧐 do we know you? He said oh im interviewing you today….we were like “oohhh hi” we got all excited like puppies and smiles, we followed him, we asked ( how did you knew who we were? ) officer replied ( i study your case before coming to get you, and since you provide a lot of pictures i was able to recognize you guys)…
We were like ( we thought we owed you money or something, because you came directly to us, while all the other officers are yelling names )
We all laughed and i think that’s when i knew the interview was about to go more easy, i was super prepared, thick@$$ folder with more evidence and anything he need it “two copies” of everything.
This officer started with the i130 interview first, his questions were more normal
“He asked my husband what makes you love her” or why her? “ my husband replied:” because even when she’s mad at me she still feeds me and makes sure to take care of me and always have food for me after a long shift”…and well she is my best friend.
Then we chatted a lot more, about food, and long hrs shift…all smiles and laugh…
He said “ your i130 is been sent to my supervisor so he can approve it NOW”
Then he went to me with questions”i485”…he said is the normal question you already answered on the i485, i answered yes or no, then he printed out a paper i signed. Then after He asked us ( if we travel anywhere this summer? ) we said no because summer is a busy season for us.) ( he asked me what made me love my husband?, i replied i have a big ego when it comes to asking for help…but luis always knows when i need help and helps me with out me asking) ( thats my love language 🥰) he is just a good Person not just to me but everyone around him)….he gave me a white paper to take with us. He said everything looks great from his part, we don’t need extra evidence or more paper work. You have uploaded a lot in the portal already. ( the officer did say he never dies anyone unless they look off)…but anywayssss, before showing up to my interview i made sure to up load as much as i could to the portal.
Also: on our way to our INTERVIEW i was praying and talking to god, i even prayed the salmon 121 and salmon 37…i asked for a sign…i kid you not ( my husband yelled LOOK JESUS LOVES YOU, and i said what?…and i looked up and there it was a big sign that said ( JESUS LOVES YOU )… i was super happy and more relaxed. The sign is literally getting off on mapple st. Yes i do believe in jesus a lot. And i put god first in all my projects, is all i have left from my Grandparents.
Praying for everyones forms to be approved asap🙏🏼

Marriage-Based AOS Stuck Because Asylum Office Has My A-File? 14 Months Waiting. Please Help!
Hi everyone!
I'm hoping someone here has experienced something similar because even my lawyer hasn't seen a case quite like mine. I'll try to keep it short.
My timeline:
- 2020: Applied for asylum and waited 5 years for an interview.
- Feb 2025: Got married.
- Aug 2025: Applied for marriage-based AOS (I-130 and I-485).
- Nov 2025: Asylum interview scheduled, but my asylum lawyer successfully postponed it to prioritize my marriage case.
- Jan 2026: Attended my marriage-based AOS interview. Everything went smoothly, but both cases remained pending with no decision.
- Feb 2026: Apparently, my A-file was transferred to the Asylum Office (I only found this out later).
- July 2026: Asylum interview rescheduled. My lawyer tried to postpone it again, but asylum office refused. I attended, and my asylum was approved on July 31!
- July & Sept 2026: Requested congressional inquiries regarding my pending marriage-based AOS.
Here's where things get confusing.
In September, I received this response from USCIS through my congressional representative:
"Our records reflect that the constituent's A-file has been with the Asylum Office since February 2026. On July 31, 2026, he was granted asylum.
His A-file will be returned to the Field Office in due time. Please note that the family-based Form I-485 is well within normal processing times."
My questions are:
- Does this mean USCIS hasn't been processing my marriage-based AOS because the Asylum Office has my A-file?
- Why hasn't the Asylum Office returned my file after approving my asylum? Is there any way to contact them and request that they send it back?
- I'm now at 14 months since filing my AOS and almost 9 months since my marriage interview. Should I consider sending a demand letter, or is there something else I can do?
I know I can apply for a green card based on asylum one year after approval, but I've already invested so much time, money, and energy into my marriage-based AOS that I really want to see it through. And also I know the green card based on asylum is taking years to get resolved.
I'm honestly exhausted and extremely anxious. After almost 7 years dealing with immigration, I find myself waking up in the middle of the night just to check my USCIS account.
Has anyone experienced something similar, especially having asylum and marriage-based AOS pending at the same time?
Any advice or personal experiences would mean a lot. Thank you!

GREEN CARD APPROVED!
DALLAS, TX
Marriage-Based Green Card Approved the Day Before My Birthday! 🎉 | Interview: June 2, 2026
After months of waiting with no clear answers, I finally just got my green card approved on October 14, 2026 — ONE DAY BEFORE MY BIRTHDAY! 🥹❤️
I wanted to share my timeline in case it helps anyone else who is stuck waiting after their interview, especially those waiting on background checks.
My timeline:
** February 25, 2026: Submitted all the paperwork and applied.
** March 14th, 2026: Biometrics scheduled.
** April 1st, 2026: Biometrics done!
** April 29, 2026: Interview was scheduled.
** June 2, 2026: Marriage-based green card interview.
** At the interview: The officer was SUPER nice and friendly. We brought a THICK folder with SO many documents and everything under the sun about our relationship (we had already uploaded all of it online) He didn’t even want to look at any of our stuff. He asked us how we met and that’s was the only thing he asked about us to be honest. Most of the time we talked about gym, life and the rest of interview he asked me the obligatory questions and that was about it. Interview lasted prob around 35 min. He told us that our case was recommended for approval, that everything was good to go and that we just needed to wait for my background check to be completed. We were told it could take approximately 30–45 days.
Well….. it took WAY longer than that
**June–October: We waited well beyond that estimated timeframe. My I-485 continued to show “Case Is Being Actively Reviewed,” my husbands I-130 was the same thing and the uncertainty was incredibly stressful.
**October 10, 2026: Out of the blue, my husband decided to check and literally 2 hours earlier that day my husband’s I-130 was finally approved! my I-485 status was still showing “Case Is Being Actively Reviewed,” although the case had a silent update that day. Next day, we had 2 silent updates on my I-485.
**October 14, 2026: MY I-485 WAS APPROVED!!! 🎉😭❤️
We had heard about delays involving more extensive background checks, and I wondered whether that might explain our wait, although I have no confirmation that this was the specific reason for my case.
What makes this approval even more emotional is the timing. I moved to the United States almost 12 years ago, and I turned 33 on October 15. Getting my approval the day before my birthday feels like the beginning of an entirely new chapter of my life. ❤️
For anyone still waiting after their interview: I know how exhausting it is to see the same status for months, especially when the officer has already told you that your case is recommended for approval. Our 30–45-day estimate turned into several months, but we finally got there!
If you’re currently waiting for your I-485 after your I-130 has been approved, please don’t lose hope. Every case is different, but I hope sharing our timeline gives someone a little reassurance. Hang in there it will be over soon!!!!!!! 🙏🏻
