The quality of this camera—which didn't break—is incredible.

The part where the spinning syncs up with the shutter blows my mind every time I see this. Gives a new meaning to "rolling shutter".

I wonder what the rpm was at the end there.

Somebody way smarter than me could probably calculate it based on the framerate of the video. We need r/theydidthemath to weigh in on this!

Isnt the RPM just the frame rate of the video, i.e. probably 30 or 60 /min?

So if the camera is recording at 30 frames per second, and there are one (or more) full rotations between each frame, that is 30 rotations per second, or 1800 RPM.

That's actually caused by the frame rate, not rolling shutter. Rolling shutter causes a single frame to show distortion from movement that occurs during the time the frame is captured.
In this case, the camera was spinning at some multiple (likely 1x) of the frame rate, which meant every time a frame was taken, a full rotation would occur before the next frame, causing the frames to mostly line up with each other.

It says something about me that I watched the first 3 seconds and was like is this the one that ends up in the pig pen? Yes, yes it was. Thanks for storing that useless information brain.

Wasn’t that an iPhone? Or was it a GoPro?

The original YouTube video description mentions that it was a camera (found 8 months later by the farmer), so GoPro.
