Advice about apartment

My daughter is looking around at apartments for next year. She has three friends she will room with so they would like a four bedroom. Anyone have any good/bad experiences with any particular complex? Ideally it would be a walk to campus, washer/dryer in unit, and a safe area. We're looking to spend around $1000 a month.

That is 1k per person, right?

I lived at Newtown Crossing for about 3 years. Has all you’re looking for and I would rate my experience an 8/10. I lived in a 3 bed apartment but I believe they have 4 beds available

4 beds would have to be townhomes, which I’ve heard much worse things about.

You’re pretty restricted to student-focused apartments, so they’ll be more expensive than the average and kinda meh in quality. I would generally avoid Royal Lex (mold) and The Hub above Naz’s. I’ve heard good things about Newtown Townhomes though.

Townhomes are worth it for the space and money…I walked to class every day when I lived there, no complaints. I also lived at signature and had no Complaints although it’s a longer walk, might want to take the bus.

As far as “safe” goes there’s never been any concerns but homeless people tend to congregate on South broadway which is where all those apartments are so you can’t avoid it. Just be vigilant but they never bothered me.

The Lex is nasty. Internet was down for at least six weeks last year. Halls REEK of pot. (Y’all go ahead and smoke up, but the company needs at least air movers and at best purifiers.). Elevators were broken much of last year. Cat litter spills (used) in common areas that no one cleans up. Cars in parking lots get broken into all the time.

Newtown townhomes are okay. Just don’t ask for anything to get fixed. Parking is better there too.

Look for a local landlord if possible. Joy Buchanan is good. Craig Hardin has some beautiful newer properties that may be open for next year.
