Trump is so dumb this polices are helping all of EV and Green energy

97

u/nutationsf 1d ago

His policies are making him incredibly rich, that is the only policy

Both can be correct

China has cut their petroleum imports by HALF.

32

u/Username_Reported 1d ago

They know that importing the Dino go-go juice is probably not going to last forever.

15

u/that_70_show_fan 1d ago

They have enormous reserves and built up inventory by importing crude cheaply from Russia and Iran. They are waiting for things to normalize. If China started importing like normal, the price of oil would be greater than what it is now.

I have a hybrid that just gets nearly 30 miles in a charge before gas kicks in.

Have been able to go for months without need of a refill on just those EV miles (and saving a minor fortune)

38

u/shaka893P 1d ago

FYI, gas has a shelf life of about 3-6 months, you might want to use it up at least twice a year

11

u/thats_handy 1d ago

Toyota designed a tank that limits exposure to the outside air and they claim that it stays stable longer in the tank. There is a dashboard reminder to fill the tank if you don't buy gasoline for a full year. It probably makes sense to run the tank down to empty and fill the tank if you ever get that warning. I usually buy gasoline once a quarter, though, either because I need it or to stay on the safe side.

I prefer driving around with a mostly full tank anyway. That way I know that if anything bonkers happens, I can drive 900km away without needing to stop.

u/minion866 18h ago

I had alot of facts to express, as a RAV4 owner, but you just labeled them all. 900km.to freedom, or zombie apocalypse!

11

u/Username_Reported 1d ago

Dont put ethanol blends in and it will stay stable longer

5

u/Xilverbullet000 1d ago

It's still hygroscopic, you'll want to at least put a fuel stabilizer to prevent that and corrosion over time

27

u/pryan37bb 1d ago

What I'm hearing is you're ready to make the jump to full BEV, and save even more money

10

u/Sweet_Bypass69 1d ago

When they all do and find out they’re gonna stoked lol but hey what do I know I only save $4000+ a year and oil corporations hate that one little trick :)

1

u/Stormblitzarorcus 7h ago

I bought an ev for 23k 12 months ago. Same car is 29k today. Price difference plus interest if financing gonna cook people.

1

u/Sweet_Bypass69 5h ago

I bought Teslas to see their value half few years later. A leaf that lost all value. But that doesn’t surprise me. Secondary market is still developing for these and current prices and gas and interest are going to drive more in droves. EVs are the future I’m never. Buying. Gas. Car. Again.

8

u/Stormblitzarorcus 1d ago

Oil squeeze made used electric vehicles go up in price by quite a bit

15

u/powerlesshero111 1d ago

I work from home and have a plug in hybrid. I only drive to Costco and the regular grocery store, but same. I fill up like once every 3 months. It's great. By friend actually needed a new car since his 2001 camry is finally dying and is getting a hybrid. He's stoked.

2

u/cdegallo 13h ago

Similar. I knew in 2018 that getting my Honda Clarity plugin would be a good car purchase, I just didn't know it would be a good car purchase for such a long time.

22

u/ginjamchammerfist 1d ago

God I want optimally an ev or at least a plug in hybrid

30

u/Sweet_Bypass69 1d ago

When you go for it you’ll love it. Owning an EV kicks ass

7

u/PhantomNomad 1d ago

One of the best decisions we made was buying our 2019 Bolt and like I've said in other comments and threads, we live in a charging waste land. My charger is the only in for over an hour drive. Seriously, if I don't charge at home I'm not going anywhere.

6

u/skumancer 1d ago

It’s a game changer.

-10

u/seckarr 1d ago

Indeed, but for some its for the worse

4

u/murkymcsquirky 1d ago

I love my EVs but I always tell people they're great till they ain't. 99% of the time, it's a superior experience for my family's uses. That 1% though can be a real hassle.

24

u/skumancer 1d ago

Yes. But so are a lot of things.

Don’t let perfect be the enemy of good.

6

u/murkymcsquirky 1d ago

I don't need perfect. I just need reliability which to be very clear, in my experience EVs as a vehicle are more reliable than ICE. The problem is infrastructure in some places + inconsistency at charging stations. If I am low on gas, I know I can get off at the next exit and I know exactly what my experience will be at the pump. Can't say that with charging (fewer locations, different charge rates, software incompatibilities, some places requiring a specific app). That's not the fault of the vehicle, but it is a reality EV drivers may have to deal with occasionally.

9

u/BadBoyDad 1d ago

I’m getting my first EV tomorrow. Stop making me nervous. lol That being said I’m surrounded by chargers but also I can charge mine on the weekend. I only use 80 miles or so a week. I think from my calculations my battery be topped off in about 18ish hours. Sunday when I’m home chillin’ doin’ my Granny TV watchin’ (KET) and cookin’ my Granny dinners (something hot from the slow cooker) because Sundays are for real about bein’ slow. I’ve mapped out all the places between here and my Grandmother’s house in rural KY. I can charge there too if I stay for a while. I’m feelin’ pretty confident so don’t be rattlin’ me lol

4

u/YamahaRyoko 23h ago

>>I think from my calculations my battery be topped off in about 18ish hours.

Do yourself a solid and just run the wire for 60a breaker and level 2 charger

My charger came with the car, the parts was about $150 to get it all going

2

u/C_Saunders 13h ago

It’s just a lifestyle change because you do have to be way more thoughtful and plan more around charging compared to getting gas.

But the fact that you’ve already done research about it shows that you’re ready! Congrats on the new EV! And get the app PlugShare if you haven’t already.

2

u/BadBoyDad 12h ago

I already have plugshare and its so cool! I see some of my neighbors reviews of our cityhall plug and I never realized they were driving an EV and that sometimes my cityhall turns off the plug, especially on high consumption days. I’ve got a “casino” and a gas station a mile from my house with the super fast rapid chargers should I ever need them and be willing to pay. I’ll be honest, my goal is probably just to park my car in the garage once a week to top it off with the granny charger. I have looked up all the chargers between me and my family, the state capital has rapid chargers too paid for by taxes so we can grab a lil sandwich from a cafe and eat in the car or look at the capital grounds to make sure I have enough range to make if back home mid voyage see family.

Thanks for the head’s up and reaffirmation! It helps me know I’m making a good decision.

4

u/PhantomNomad 1d ago

I've had pretty much the same experience with our EV. I absolutely love that car. So much so that I've decided to sell my one ton diesel and get an EV truck. I know it won't haul as much but I don't need a one ton any more. We will be a 100% EV house. I should point out that I live in a charging waste land. The only other charger close to me is over an hour away. I'm two hours from a major city. Even there finding reliable charging stations is a hassle. BTW I'm in Alberta Canada and we have an aversion to anything that isn't oil & gas. Even our agriculture (which is worth a few billion dollars a year) is almost never talked about in the news. But again I hope to never own a gas/diesel vehicle again.

4

u/YamahaRyoko 23h ago

I own an EV, and I have dealt with arriving at a charging station at 12% only to find they're offline, and then push to 3% finding another viable station who's card reader is down. I have lived this problem.

However, every day is a new baseline, because about 1000 new chargers come online in the United States every week. It is fair to say that it is only getting better.

2

u/Speech-Language 19h ago edited 19h ago

I slow charge at home and it works great for commuting, but charging stations can be a pain. Recently was in a smaller, wealthy city and googled EV charger near me, first two I drove to and nothing there. Next drove to another city nearby and first one would not take my credit cards, next was a slow charger and it would have taken 8 hours to charge, then a Tesla charger, right after I pull up another car pulls up obnoxiously blasting music, so we left and found another Tesla charger that worked.

1

u/FragrantExcitement 10h ago

What happens with the 1%?

1

u/murkymcsquirky 9h ago

Can't find a charger, or the charger you find doesn't work for one reason or another, or you do find a charger but the rate is so low you'll be stuck there for hours. This is super uncommon and if you're in a decently populated city, it's not a big deal at all. The problem comes in when you're on a road trip or an area you're not as familiar with. Some folks will say its not an issue if you plan ahead which is mostly true but as others have stated, the chargers that show up on your map may not always be what you expected and it's really frustrating when that happens.

1

u/FragrantExcitement 8h ago

Ah ok. Yeah, I have a tesla and live on east coast so not too much of an issue. 99% of time i just charge at home. Longer road trips even with reliable Super Chargers can be less convenient as you have fewer choices.

u/LiterallyTestudo 1d ago

I just drove home in my new Kia EV3. 😎

7

u/pgraczer 1d ago

yay! i have a new BYD atto 3 and i love it

4

u/Candid_Score6316 1d ago

I’ve had one for a year and a half. Absolutely love it

10

u/Llamaalarmallama 16h ago

I keep chuckling to myself on this one. Considering how utterly against any of the climate change etc science Trump is, his actions, stupidity and general brainless ignorance have probably helped move the world away from fossil fuels AND as a capstone thought, may have even moved us from a 0.7 to slightly nearer a 0.8 on the Karshadev scale of civilizations. All because he's as dumb as a brick. Such staggering incompetence that he's helping in an almost 180 degree direction from his goals and intents.

2

u/Gladiateher 12h ago

That’s the thing about humans, our leaders matter for sure, not saying they don’t, but we can do shit on our own. We don’t need trumps help or permission to make our world and lives better. We will succeed in spite of him because that’s what we’ve always had to do for thousands of years, and now there’s billions of us each with our own power to think and act.

1

u/BaggyHairyNips 11h ago

If you asked if I wanted a 40% carbon tax I would have been on board.

Would have been nice if we spent the 50 billion dollars on solar and grid modernization instead of a war.

10

u/mydogargos 1d ago

I love my little pos leaf.

6

u/Username_Reported 1d ago

Dude. Those arent pos's.

Those bitches are great, cheap, and reliable on the used car market.

Honestly, I'd love to own your leaf

6

u/scaierdread 1d ago

I have an ev, range is like 300 miles for 60% (80% to 20%, only go above or below once a month), and even if I didn't have a charger at home a fill up is like 20 bucks. It's increased my electric bill by 50 bucks a month, so significantly cheaper than gas right now.

3

u/Good-Cap-7632 1d ago

I switched in January. I've been very happy with my decision.

u/mtntrail 1d ago

Trump bubbling bass ackwards into championing the death of fossil fuel. Life cannot get more pitifully ironic!!

Decades ago a gas shortage caused people I knew at the factory I worked at who drove big pick ups all their lives, their daddies drove big pick ups all their lives, and their grandpas drove big pick ups all their lives, to show me the numbers justifying them buying a Toyota that would pay for itself in gas milage. The shortage, engineered by the oil companies to drive up prices, ignited the push for better gas milage.

2

u/Phalex 14h ago

EVs are a no-brainer at this point.

2

u/Jackloco 1d ago

Evs for the race track look more appealing every time I see them chilling in the padock charging

1

u/RiotGamesHQ 18h ago

Yeh im currently trying to sell me 540i to lease a leapmotor c10

2

u/SJSEng 16h ago

what a surprise EV, and renewables serve a national security purpose.

1

u/Gladiateher 12h ago

It’s undeniable at this point, the fossil fuel era is ending. Look at Amazon for instance, in my area their whole deliver fleet is electric.

If high use commercial delivery vehicles that need to make hundreds of stops per day can be all electric, there’s very little need for any ICE vehicles.

Especially keeping in mind they’re getting better by the year, the EVs we have now are the worst ones that we’ll ever have.

1

u/bluenoser613 1d ago

*except the US

3

u/Miss_Speller 1d ago

True that:

15 countries, including major car markets such as India and Brazil, have overtaken the US for EV sales share for the first time in 2026.

Only seven countries now sell fewer EVs as a percentage of overall car sales than the US, despite residents across the land of the free continuing to grapple with almost unprecedented prices at the pumps.

Though I will say that EVs are rampant in Southern California, most of them Teslas, alas.

-7

u/q81101 1d ago

You drive a lot go for EV. If you WFH or don't have home charger drive gas/hybrid, EV ain't going to save you money.

Repairing cost and insurance will eat up the fuel + gas maintenance cost. 1 minor accident may result in totaled loss = you to sell for depreciated price.

1

u/YamahaRyoko 23h ago
  1. Repairing what? The entire time I've owned one, I only had to replace steering stabilizer links from pothole hits

  2. I pay $75 a month for full coverage on my Polestar

-5

u/q81101 23h ago
  1. I am talking about repair cost. Not how often it need to be repair. If your car goes wrong for whatever reasons, that repair ain't cheap. ICE car also don't need repair much. My 2015 Rav4 (106k) just mainly routine maintained.
  2. What's your liability? If you are getting state minimum, then it make sense. I am in Texas, bought RAV4 2026 in June, got quote for Toyota BZ (25% more) and Tesla (40% more). 300k liability.

4

u/FightOnForUsc 21h ago

Why do you think EVs in general will need more repairs/repair cost when there’s way less to go wrong?

This is separate from repairs due to repairs from accidents, but issues that are due to a lack of longevity

-2

u/q81101 21h ago

I never said EV needs more repairs, did I? Just repair cost itself, labor is more expensive for EV than ICE.

1

u/FightOnForUsc 14h ago

Ok, so don’t run your car into anything or slam the doors and you’ll be fine? If your car needs repairs bc someone else hit you then they’ll insurance will pay for it. How often are you repairing your car due to hitting things?!
