What are some hyper-specific plug-ins that you use?

Some examples of hyper-specific plug ins that I use are

- Bark of Dog (adds a sine wave whenever a certain threshold is met. Mostly used to add sub tones to kick dums)

- Dada Life's Eternal Return plug-ins ("endless EDM rising" modulation effect)

- Waves' Vocal Rider plug in (emulates riding the gain on a mixer, so essentially a very unique kind of compression)

What are some others?

Waves MV2. Really smooths out a super dynamic vocal performance. I've never seen another plugin quite like it. It's a relatively colorless compressor that let's you compress the high volume and low volume performances separately by simply just adjusting a slider for each with VU feedback to let you know how much is actually being triggered by each band.

It's quite literally indispensable for mixing lower quality vocals which in my trade is...like 90% of my clients, since I primarily produce for streamers who want to record song covers with their shitty fucking Blue Yetis or poorly gain-staged SM7Bs. It is, and I mean this at 100% face value, the only thing keeping me still in the Waves ecosystem. Everything else they offer has a better alternative. MV2 however, I have never seen an alternative for, and every other person I've ever seen talk about MV2 also agrees with that sentiment.

You theoretically could jury-rig an alternative by like parallel compressing with an upward compressor or some shit like that, because all MV2 really is, is like having control of a standard and upward compressor in one box, but that's...well, that's part of the magic of it. It just makes it simple. I use it to add a little balance and then if I want to add more colorful compression, I'll add more colorful compression. It's the simplicity and lack of character that makes it so special.

Brusfri - it's just there to clean any input noise but it's so damn good at it!

HiFAL: it just cuts the top brittleness off of the high end in a way a dresser couldn’t.

Web Sampler: opens up a browser in the plugin that allows you to record and sample any video into your DAW

Hornet 3x-Over is a rare one

I also use boz Rackspacer for real, in a certain daw, it could also just be an empty instrument but it's a good meme, so

and I still keep my Ice9 fuse emulation around

oh yeah, TB Pro's Isol8, very good monitoring station

ReaFIR

FFT processor that can do all sorts of useful and crazy stuff to audio. As useful for extremely targeted noise reduction (hum, buzz, ground loops) as it is for spectral-based FSU.

Infiltrator 2. Has everything i need in an fx chain, and has a built in limiter, it's a work horse for sure.

For eq, and dynamics it's stock Live plugins.

For synths, when iam not using my hardware is Spire or good old Sylenth.

Dfx polarizer, it’s I think the mathematical most extreme distortion basically hard binary squaring the audio at a sample level. I don’t think it’s physically safe to release audio with it applied as it’ll give the drivers an crazy workout and probably break them, but as something to be resampled it’s really great
