Question/Support Weird Two VR Setup Edge-case

So I've been using 2.0 base stations for a while now. Recently, my wife wanted to start using the old Index. The problem is, we only have one pair of the knuckles. There's a spare set of Vive Wands (the 1.0 ones) and 1.0 base stations. Is there a way of specifically excluding the 2.0 base stations from their PC so it only uses the 1.0s (since you can't use both)?

They are not only incompatible within the tracking universe, they also cannot be in the same room at all. The 1.0 basically floods the room with ir during the sync pulse and would mess up 2.0 tracking. If you are just talking about turning them on and off you can do that in the base station > power management settings, then just use an app like lighthouse pm to turn them on and off.

Yeah so how does that app even work? I cant get the bases to work with my phone, is it 2.0 specifically? Or does it work with 1.0s?

Lh control seems to be a desktop alternative: https://github.com/FlameInTheDark/lhcontrol

Not sure if lighthouse pm was abandoned or what, it used to do 1.0 as far as I recall but I don't have mine sitting out to test.

A Bluetooth (BLE) adapter, yes.

Unless you have them set up in another room your not supposed to have both in the same space, a single set of either generation works for 2 vr users in the same room and stations. If its just steamvr sticking your 2.0 as the calibration then just do the room setup in steamvr to assign the 1.0

Just use the 1.0 base stations.

Every SteamVR 2.0 tracked device (Index and knuckles) is backwards compatible with them, and they naturally work with the old vive wands.

Easiest solution is to have both 1.0 and 2.0 stations set up (with the 1.0s powered off). When you both want to play at the same time or need to use 1.0 tracked devices like the vive wands, turn off the 2.0s and turn on the 1.0s, as all the 2.0 tracked devices will play nice with the 1.0 stations.

..... unplug em or use power saving mode or whatever its called. Make sure the 1.0 bases arent using the mode (theyll light up red with a gren led at the top) and then power off the 2.0s

Valve has base stations on sale right now as a last buy, way cheaper than vive. You might just want to pick up a pair, and if your wife stops using them, you can keep them around as spares when you main pair eventually start failing, or just flex and run 4 base stations
