Question Brewer Networking?

Hi, young female kiwi brewer here. Planning to move up to Canada next year (work permit sorted).

I'm a good few months away from making the move as I want to see out our busy season here first, but I'd really love to start planting some roots with the industry over there as well.

So, does anyone have any advice on how exactly to connect with local brewers/industry friends and find work opportunities?

I was considering cold emailing a few companies, but I'm not sure how that would be received, and quite frankly, I am unsure who I'd even target.

I'm very excited and have lots of questions, so I also welcome any general advice about life in Vancouver/BC, finding work, hiring processes, etc.

Thanks guys.

Female brewer here, I worked in a few breweries in Vancouver before I moved into the interior of BC.

There is a Facebook group called Modern Beer Club, mostly female/non-binary folk. Some great contacts in there. Send me a DM if you'd like an invite to the group as it is private.

Alternatively, you could get in touch with the Pink Boots Society. You can find them on Instagram under the handle 'Pink Boots Society Canada'. I believe Lundy runs that account. She's amazing and has an excellent network.

It's a tough season right now for smaller breweries, but if you have a couple years experience under your belt and a good attitude you'll have success cold emailing the big dogs. Parallel 49 is almost always hiring experienced brewers. Red Truck Brewing probably similiar.

Feel free to reach out to me!

Lundy is great, she's also with BC Craft Brewers Guild and therefore also responsible for the upcoming BC Beer Awards event on Oct 16. Looking forward to the event after the judging last week.

Cheers for the insight, I'll definitely reach out to you over the weekend!

And Lundy Dale is a fucking legend apparently, so a good name to know of. Off to a flying start.

The craft beer conference (usually in October) and the awards that often follow are great if the timing works out

Oh thanks I'll look into it, is that on a city, provenance or country wide scale?
