Discussion Instant Vaporwave on YT

Ok, so I found about this app/addon to Firefox called PitchShifter (i'm not sure it exists for Chrome too)

I don't know if this sounds stupid to you guys, but I never knew you could do this... You basically have instant vaporwave on your screen:

  • find your favourite acid jazz compilation on Youtube
  • install the addon
  • have fun changing the pitch, the speed AND even the reverb.

I'm seriously blown away by how simple it is to enjoy some new vaporwave.

Chrome has a very similar extension named Transpose, made a bunch of tracks using it and uploaded them to bandcamp. Glad to know there's a firefox version now that I abandoned chrome in favor of waterfox.

nice. I have a command line bash function i use for this

vp() { yt-dlp -f 'bestaudio[ext=m4a]' -o - "$1" | ffplay -hide_banner -loglevel error -i pipe:0 -af "asetrate=44100*${2:-0.66},aresample=44100"; }

so put that in zshrc and just say vp "<paste youtube url here>"

plays at 0.66 speed by default which tends to be pretty gud
