Could not agree more.Β I travelled over from Dublin to for that gig but without your connections lol, although did meet Moe and Sterling in the Baggott Inn gig...
Met Lou outside The Helix and Shepard's Bush and John at the Festival Hall in London.
I honestly can't put into words my delight at myself for meeting the members of The Velvet Underground!
So how did a St Pats fan presumably from Dublin get on the list at Wembley? Love to hear the story....

Became a fan of the Velvets from the early 70s (through WOTWS), and became obsessed with them π Bought Moes album Life in Exile After Abdication and it had an address on the back for the record label (at the time, owned by Penn of Penn and Teller fame) I wrote (pre email) asking if they had a copy of the album Playin' Possum for sale. Bout 4 months later got a package from Moe containing a letter and a cassette of the album, she recorded on her kitchen table for me π From then we kept in touch, xmas cards, b'day cards and gifts when my children were born π When the Velvets reformed, Moe invited myself and the wife to the gig at Wembley π Wasn't expecting backstage passes and nearly died when we saw them π Met and had drinks with them ( tho Lou and John were not talking at that stage), met Lou's mom and Moe's friend 'Mersh' from the song 'Hey Mersh'. Unreal night π Was also at the Baggot gig π Have backstage pic of that π and yep, from Dublin and a fan of Pats for my sins π

I saw Lou in the early 00s at a used record store and fake looked in the world music section he was browsing to say hi.
When he was done looking through a row and moved onto the next I told him how much I loved his music, and that it was the soundtrack to a lot of my life.
He just sighed and said, βOh yeah? You and everyone else, kid,β before diving back into the stacks.
Loved it. The only thing that wouldβve made it better is if he called me an asshole.
