I just want your MENU!

That’s it! That’s all I want when I go to a restaurant website. The menu. I don’t want to have to start an order to see your menu. I don’t want to have to download a PDF and open it to see your menu. I don’t want to see pictures of your food outside of a current menu. I don’t want to see your coupons when I don’t know what’s on your menu. And I don’t sign up for your newsletter. I just want to see the fucking menu! With prices!

I thought I was the only one that finds this practice unacceptable. It has gotten to the point where I will not order/ dine in at a restaurant that has these ridiculously convoluted websites. Really how difficult to take my money?

I 1000% agree.

And then you have the restaurants that won't even show you the menu to order if the restaurant is closed.

Yes! This pisses me off so bad. Like, I know you're closed! I'm going there tomorrow with my family and I have a lot of allergies so like to look ahead and figure out what I can eat before I get there! 😭

Its not the way we do things in this establishment

Yes!!! Or only showing lunch options because it's too early for supper? I'm trying to plan day here people. Why is your menu a secret?!?!

and I don’t want to be redirected to a food delivery app.

u/Zambonionice 2h ago

I quit and find another place when they do that bs. I can't stand it.

Yes! Nothing worse than having to start a fake "pickup order" just to see the menu. Even worse when you then go to dine in the dine in menu is different, for some reason.

I just like to plan ahead before I go, it shouldn't be complicated.

I'd be happy with even a menu without prices at this point. Just have the menu on the front page of your website or an extremely noticable link to another page that takes you directly to the menu without having to download anything. How hard is it to just have someone who updates it every time a menu item gets changed? It should take all of five minutes to delete a special and add the new one

One of my favorite local restaurants closed a few years ago, the owners retired. Their website was their menu. One HTML page, phone number and address at the top. They were always busy.

OMG YES THIS 100000000%

Just yesterday I wanted to check some prices at McDs. I don’t want to place an order for delivery or pick up. I had to down load the APP to even see SOME of the prices. 🙄

I wanted to see a basic list of value meals and prices. It’s been a while since I’ve been. Never got my ans. Only individual items and prices. And I don’t give a crap about calories! IT’S MCDONALDS! If I care about calories I’d eat a salad!

u/fayrent20 6h ago

I’d turn around and walk out. Fuck that noise. Lol

u/J0annaRose 6h ago

Walk out? The entire post is about restaurant websites & their online menus

1

u/fayrent20 5h ago

lol ummmm if u don’t hand me a menu and instead give me a scan code to download a menu I will turn around and walk out. Sorry I can’t explain what I mean more succinctly.

1

u/J0annaRose 5h ago

I ALSO can't explain what I mean more succinctly.

OP was talking about just checking the restaurant website to see what the menu is before going to the restaurant, not being forced to use a QR code.

u/EVILSUPERMUTANT 5h ago

It's definitely one of the worst things to come out of the pandemic.

1

u/lisasimpsonfan 4h ago

Yes! I just want to see if there is something everyone will like before we go to a new restaurant.

u/satan165 3h ago

One of my fave restaurants in the world here in hegewisch chicago actually has the domain name point to the PDF! It doesn’t get any better than that.

No one needs the AI junk “about us” section, thx

When you find yourself in a restaurant like this, leave. But before you do ask to speak to a manager and be sure to let them know why you are leaving.

This is the only way businesses are going to get the message, but unfortunately most people are willing to submit to this bullshit so it is likely not going anywhere.

•

u/Exotic_Bill44 21m ago

So you are going to drive all the way to the restaurant to tell them you are leaving because you didn't like their website when you looked at it at home?

•

u/amethystjade15 56m ago

SO MUCH THIS

•

u/NotAFloorTank 14m ago

I just straight up wouldn't eat out ata place that makes the menu so inaccessible. I have allergies and sensory issues with food. I NEED to know what is on the menu for my wellbeing.
