The system has failed in every way. Unreliable and unacceptable.

One of the reasons for the Metro Tunnel was to de-link those services from the City Loop/SC/FSS grouping and the flow on effect of delays in any part of that network. Unfortunately for Vline users, probably 90% of services are sent through the SC to Sunshine corridor, so when that sneezes, the whole network catches a cold. Unfortunately, I doubt the Sunshine rebuild will fix this until Melton AND Wyndham Vale are electrified and removed from the Vline Network, with the associated reduction in services on the RRL.

The Regional Rail Link tracks used by V/Line trains actually has a completely independent signalling systems from the suburban trains the entire way from Southern Cross to Sunshine - the project wanted to build them as one shared system but V/Line and Metro both wanted to be in charge, so they were built separately.

The analysis identified that a centralised interlocking (item c.) was the best architecture however both AROs wanted to be responsible for their lines so the centralised and separate interlockings (item d.) was the ARO preferred architecture.

Mapping this architecture into the work packages matched the Rail Systems Alliance scope but in the brownfields work packages where each work package needs to be responsible for their own signalling the centralised approach did not fit and as a consequence there is number of distributed interlockings along the MTM lines.

A further work package scope impact on the CBI architecture was that the Southern Cross Station package was an early works package which established a local CBI for the RRL line with the result that for the RRL line there is also more than one CBI covering the RRL line.

Yeah, that was my poor wording. I meant that when there's an incident on the RRL between SC and Sunshine, you don't lose just one line, you lose 3. The 3 busiest.

Stupid Vline does not work at all.

Imagine once Airport Rail starts and no one can get to the airport on time for their flights because of a track fault at Sunshine 😮‍💨

The state might be better off going back to horse drawn carriages, apparently running one of the oldest forms of transport is too hard.

What would you like them to do when someone jumps on the tracks?
