This is kind of crazy…

1,400 stocks are down 70%+ from their 52-week highs.

Let that sink in.

If you’re down 70%, you need roughly a 233% gain just to get back to breakeven.

DISCUSSION Trump says oil is cheaper now than it was under Biden or Obama - so lets buy some oil and put it in your car

Trump says oil is cheaper now than it was under Biden or Obama.

Technically, he has a point, sort of.

Averaged over his whole second term, U.S. crude has cost about $74 a barrel, a bit below Biden's $80 and Obama's $76.

Gas averaged $4.33 a gallon in September, a RECORD for the month, up from about $3.16 a year ago. And in some states the price is over $6 (California).

And that's what drivers actually feel at the pump. Nobody fills up their tank with a term average, right 🤨

What do you think the average price of gas will be in a year?

Non-asset owners are seeing a large drop in US consumer sentiment.

Since January 2026, consumer sentiment is down -27% among the bottom 33% of stockholders, the largest decline among the stock-wealth groups surveyed.

This is followed by those who do not own stocks, whose sentiment is down -25% over the same period.

By comparison, sentiment is down just -9% among the middle 33% and -7% among the top 33% of stockholders.

Asset ownership has helped offset the impact of higher living costs, leaving consumers with fewer or no stocks more exposed to the recent acceleration in inflation.

Meanwhile, 1-year consumer inflation expectations rose +0.1 percentage point this month, to 4.7%, its 2nd-highest reading since August 2025.
