New Starter Help Thoughts on my first Tyranid scheme?

I owned a leviathan kit for 2 years and now I’m finally at a point where I can paint! However, I am feeling very iffy over how I should paint these things because I want something simple, unique and good looking. I’m also terrified of how this will transfer to my Screamer Killer. The second picture is not 100% what I’m going for because the yellows are too bright. Also, more importantly, what do I add to make it a 1000 point army? My friend is doing knights and I haven’t been able to play the game yet despite knowing a lot of lore so I’m scared that these are gonna get completely smashed.

Looking good so far! If you're looking for painting advice, mine would be to go with a yellow-green highlight or wash to bring out the contrast. What you're doing now is perfect practice for the Screamer-Killer.

I'd recommend getting a color wheel. Either buying one to physically have, or pulling one up online while you work. It'll help you find natural color pairings, matches, congrats, etc. For instance, looking at mine would say to use a red contrast to the carapace (like the eyes or gun) and purple against the body (like the claws).

As for the army list, think of an answer to each part of the opponents army. What's good at capturing and holding objectives? What's good at killing infantry? Killing tanks/monsters? Killing characters? Questions like that will help you start shaping your army to where you have an answer for most things
