Most other versions are bigger than the compact so literally any other one will do. Absolute Watchmen is probably the best because it is large and includes extras like script drafts and art samples. But it is also expensive. I went with the Watchmen: The Deluxe Edition hardcover, which also includes extras and is a good size.

What format would be the best to have all the details?

The regular printing is fine (not compact, not Absolute), you can likely find that second hand for not very much money. It's been kept in print in perpetuity.

Regular TPB ?

Yeah that's all good.

There's nothing lost in the compact either unless it removes the "book" sections.

Absolute Watchmen is the quick answer. Question is are you willing to pay the higher price and are you okay with a larger book that is more cumbersome for travel.

Just a common trade paperback edition will do you fine, & they're cheap to find used. You're probably fine with the compact too if you don't mind some small print, but most of the world & I first read it in a standard trade paperback size & I can vouch that it works great that way.

Best to not miss any details? The annotated Watchmen, where the details are all mentioned in the annotations.

I thought the whole cast was amazing. Rorschach and Comedian in particular.

Would be insane to read the compact version.

Why ?

Because it's too small and the art is incredibly detailed.
