Poor Bella

I will begin this by saying I believe Chris Watts's final account of murdering the girls in the truck at his work. I'm not making this post to debate anyone about it.

I often think about what the Watts children went through in their final hours. I have OCD and am often haunted by intrusive thoughts and disturbing visual imagery. This piece offers a glimpse of what goes on in my mind.

I feel especially sorry for Bella, who was probably more conscious of what was happening than CeCe. I think about how just the night before their deaths, Bella was distressed and talking to the babysitter about how if CeCe ate a coconut, she would "never see her again". She likely had at least a vague concept of death.

The sheer psychological torment of that morning alone is hard to process. Her mother, dead. Chris firmly pressing the blanket to her dear little sister's face. It takes a while to suffocate someone to death. The body has involuntary responses as it's being starved of oxygen. CeCe was only three so it probably didn't seem to Chris like she was putting up a fight, but she was no doubt struggling. There is no question Bella recognized the danger and distress CeCe was in, her little body squirming but no match against the strength of a grown man.

"Daddy, stop!" Bella probably cried out, tears streaming down her face as seconds turned into minutes. I would expect that she reached over, desperately trying to pry his strong hands loose, to no avail and crying all the more. This was, after all, a child prone to fits of tears if a small amount of whipped cream landed on her, or if something as harmless as rain made contact with her skin. While Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny were sources of joy for most children, they were the stuff of nightmares in the mind of Bella Watts. She was sensitive to a fault, which makes her bearing witness to CeCe's death especially cruel. It is no stretch of the imagination that the sight reduced Bella to hysterics as CeCe kicked and convulsed under the blanket before finally, mercifully, going limp.

When Chris removed the blanket from the toddler, Bella certainly searched CeCe's face for some sign of life, while frightened by the bluish purple hue of her skin. This is the result of cyanosis. Those who die from asphyxiation typically develop a blue, purple, or deep indigo discoloration.

I'm sure Chris had to keep CeCe's limp body propped up, otherwise it would fall to the floorboards of the truck. He might have considered killing Bella then, but decided to dispose of CeCe first. There was still plenty of time.

I can imagine Bella watching as her father cradled CeCe in his arms while slamming the door of the truck shut with his foot, leaving Bella alone inside. I see her watching him approach the oil tank nearby and begin his slow, steady ascent while carrying thirty-seven pounds of dead weight. About five minutes later, she saw him climb back down without CeCe and momentarily returned to the truck.

"What happened to CeCe?" she asked when he opened the door. He did not respond. He grabbed the blanket he had used on his youngest child, the confident, energetic little fireball. Then he turned to his oldest -- sweet, thoughtful, anxious Bella, who fretted over her sisters allergies and recently sang "My Daddy is a Hero". It was safe to say her father felt nothing for her or CeCe.

"Are you going to do to me what you did to CeCe?" Bella asked him, trembling.

Chris stared at her with the cold, predatory eyes of a reptilian creature. Then he swiftly moved towards her with the blanket.

"Daddy, no!" she cried out.

And those were the last words of Bella Marie Watts. Rest in peace.

This is weird. Also extremely unhealthy. Maybe step away from true crime for a while. Or this case at least. This type of vivid imagery is incredibly odd to be so mentally inundated with.

With OCD, you can't control your mind and the intrusive thoughts. I'm constantly inundated with graphic atrocities like this. It affects every facet of my life. I can't eat or sleep. I thought writing about it could be a form of catharsis.

The fact is that Chris is a coward and an ultimate liar. He has always been a liar and has changed his story about what happened that night multiple times. I dont believe he looked any of them in the eye before or during the killings. It doesnt fit who he is because he is too cowardly.

I think he's evil enough to look them in the eyes.

I dont think he is evil the way its potrayed in movies. He has very rudimentary emotions and thought processes and isnt capable of actually loving anybody. Many people are like this. I think Chris acted like a nice person, and the people around him projected the rest onto him. The assumption that he was a good, caring person. Even his wife did the same. He is a shell of a man, and the world is full of them, whether people want to accept that or not.

Like I said, I'm not going to debate anyone. I just strongly believe he smothered them in the car one after the other.

Trust me, I wish I never thought about the case. It's like I have no control over where my mind goes.

You should probably step away from the case for a bit, this is very unhealthy

I wish it were that easy to simply step away. My brain locks onto horrific things that I can't do anything about. There's no way to distract myself for long. The thoughts and visuals constantly haunt me.

Was this really necessary?

Probably not.

I’m haunted by this just like I’m haunted by what the Clancy endured in their final moments. The fact that the autopsy details that Bella tried to fight back by biting her tongue yanks my heart right out of my chest 😭😭😭😭

This reads like romanticised fan fiction. Totally uncalled for

It's literature. 🌹

It's drivel. And what's with the rose emoji? OCD is no excuse for romanticising those murders

However he murdered them, he's one of the most evil people alive on earth. I do believe he tried to kill them at the house before he drove to the oil field, or whatever it's called. I think CeCe was deprived of oxygen, and that's why she was so quiet. Otherwise, from the descriptions of her personality, she would have been talking or calling for her mama. At least that's what I think. It's too bad he didn't get the death penalty. I wonder if the Ruzecks regretted saying they did not want him to have the death penalty. They're Catholics like we are, and we're supposed to oppose the death penalty. But under those circumstances, I'd have a very difficult time opposing the death penalty for that monster. And I'm sorry.

CeCe was likely upset too, but probably more confused than anything. She knew something was very wrong and I can see her asking questions about Mommy in that babyish, barely coherent way she spoke. I also think it's interesting he killed CeCe first and in front of Bella, knowing her sensitive personality and close bond with her sister. I can't help thinking that was intentional and he felt nothing for his children at that point. That's how he was able to discard them so easily.

He's evil. He's a monster.

That's too easy. Things are rarely that black and white. What he did was evil, very much so. Human beings do INHUMAN things that are beyond comprehension every day. But there are many facets and layers to each of us. I can see how he was bottling so much up for so long that he exploded in an irrational, singleminded impulse that destroyed 4 defenseless lives. He lost it that day and unfortunately he can't do it over again. But I believe his remorse and sure pray to God I never do anything like that, as any average Joe can be driven to the point of madness.

He killed his family to be with his side piece. That's the reason. He said if he hadn't met Nikki, he would not have killed Shan'nan. Now you need to take a break from this.

No they don't. You said this is all in your head.

I can see how he was bottling so much up for so long that he exploded

No, Watts was not bottling anything up, and he did not explode. This is false.

I pray to God I never do anything like that, as any average Joe can be driven to the point of madness.

Use any and all resources to fight off the ideations. I hope you have people you can ask to help you, and accept their help.
