Career and Education Imposter syndrome

Hi

Any older and wiser women on here like to share how they got over imposter-syndrome. I have a really really bad case of it, always have. I’m at the very beginning of my career. I love my job but I’m not meeting the challenges and hours I need to progress in my career. I see job applications for a better position but every time I go to hit the submit button, I over think everything. How I’m not ready or good enough.

So how did any of you get over this ?

Fashion and Beauty Affordable lash extensions in Dublin suggestions!

Going to Brazil in a month and would like to get my lashes done without breaking the bank. Saw some places charging €90+ and that’s kind of obscene. Ideally near the city centre would be great :-)

hi all,

was wondering how to get hydroquinone here without visiting dermatologist

I was able to get tretinoin via online consultation (smartscripts) but they don't do this

is it possible to get hydroquinone like that?

thanks!

Fashion and Beauty New short haircut and spots.

Has anyone any good product recommendations for styling short hair that won’t cause me to have pimple and blocked pores on my forehead and hairline?

I recently got all my hair cut into a very short pixie cut and it needs a styling clay to keep it under control.
I’ve gone from no spots to a full forehead of pimples and blocked pores in 2 weeks.

I need a product to style my hair has anyone found any that don’t cause these breakouts?

I wash my face in the morning and night. Don’t wear make up and just use a moisturiser with SPF.
Any other tips on how to stop the spots would be appreciated too!

Thank you!

In Good Company being honest about past in a relationship? TW

remove if not suitable for sub

i’m in a new relationship and my first serious one. it’s going slow but steady but the only thing i’m dreading is the topic of sex/intimacy. i’ve dealt with abuse as a child and sometimes i go through periods where even thinking about sex is very difficult, but other times i’m all up for it

how do i approach this topic with my partner? DO i bring this up? it’s not something i’ve even fully come to terms with in my own head. i want to be open and honest with my partner but i don’t want to deter them or frighten them.

Chat and Craic Friday Frustrations: Your chance to rant and vent about the week just gone..

As suggested in our recent feedback thread, here is your opportunity for a weekly rant and vent.

Had a long week? Work driving you insane? Life being life? Encountered one too many absolute idiots out in the wild? Temporarily hate your other half?

This is your safe space to have a moan, blow off steam and let it all out judgement free.. so you can head into the weekend feeling lighter.

Only rule: keep it respectful and within the subreddit rules.

Have your rant, then go enjoy your Friday!

Fashion and Beauty Need help with dressing for the weather while being comfortable

Hey everyone, I really need advice on dressing (and maybe hygiene)

I commute to college every day (five days a week), which means walking for at least more than 20 minutes a day. Lately I noticed that I get really hot and uncomfortable only after walking for about 7 minutes. The heat starts from my back, then my arms, then my chest and sometimes my neck. It's worse when the weather is cold because that's when I'm wearing a jacket/zip-up hoodie and a fitted long-sleeve top. Sometimes I even avoid moisturizing my arms when I'm wearing a fitted long-sleeve top because then my arms start to sweat a bit and my top feels damp. I also sweat between my thighs, which I really hate. I usually wear joggers at the bottom (especially right now, as my jeans don't fit anymore). I'm also going in and out of rooms that vary in temperature (some rooms are warm and others cold)

I've been looking to change my wardrobe from fitted long-sleeve tops to loose-fitting tops and maybe get a lighter raincoat/jacket (I found some loose-fitting tops on NEXT). I'm also looking to get looser jeans and maybe boxer tights for the sweating between the thighs; I don't know if that'll help.

I'm on the pill, which can make me hot and nauseous, especially at night, so maybe that's the reason. I don't really know when this issue started, so I can't say if it began when I started taking the pill or before.

I've gained some weight over summer, and I'm kind of busty for the height of 4'11 (I think), and I'd usually wear a sports bar; I'm looking to change to wearing a bra that fits me because that might be contributing to the heat.

I'm laying all this information down so you know the background and just so you understand where I'm coming from. I kind of feel like I'm overreacting, but the heat makes me very uncomfortable, especially with commuting.

I really need your help, and if I'm overreacting, do tell me because I feel like I'm going crazy over this. And also let me know if I'm going in the right direction concerning the solutions I've brought up. And sorry if this reads all over the place because that's how my mind is right now.

Travel Advice Gift ideas for Irish girl living in Australia

I will be traveling to Australia soon to see my cousin who is half Irish, living in Australia for about 12 years. I’m stuck at what to give her as a gift! She has been incredibly supportive throughout all my life including very traumatic events. I’m eternally grateful for her. So I really want to give her something that she will actually enjoy. Please hit me with ideas! What are the things, or beauty brands you cannot find in Australia but can in Ireland? She is big into beauty, fragrance, or beauty tools etc

PS: I read the rules, seems like I can post this in here, but if not, please do let me know!

Thank you!

Personal Stories Sick parent

I just returned from 14 months of mat leave to a job I started 7 months before going on leave. It still feels like a new job.

My mum however had been diagnosed with melanoma 2.5 years ago and we found out this week that her treatment (she is now stage 4) hasn’t work. There has been talk about clinical trials etc but we are not sure what is to come.

Naturally this has really affected my performance in work and in struggling a lot. My confidence isn’t great at the best of times and now I just feel stuck. Do I need to tell work what is going on?

TW: grief and loss

My best friend passed away on Friday having been diagnosed with stage 4b cervical cancer on only 6 months ago. She never had a smear test done. Please, please book yours if you haven't had one in the last 3 years. I haven't had one since I was pregnant with my Son in April 2019. So I've booked it for next Monday.

Our health really is our wealth. ❤️

Throwaway Account FYI pregnancy after termination

Just created this profile to share info that might not be well known.

I had a termination in 2024. Obviously don’t need to share why with the internet but my husband and I made the decision together for various reasons.

A year later we were pregnant again, planned this time. At our 12 week appointment the registrar said “okay second pregnancy first birth”

If I hadn’t told my husband this would have been quite a shock to him so if you need to inform your partners of any past termination make sure it’s before you’re sitting in the doctors office.

Also took my mother to one of my appointments and again they said second pregnancy first birth. My mother knew of my termination and was incredibly supportive but I could imagine her reaction if she hadn’t known.

Hope this post doesn’t break any rules

Personal Stories No friends to be bridesmaid.

I’m getting married, and I’m struggling with something that I feel quite embarrassed and sad about. I never had friends in any job or school in my life, and my sister isn’t really bothered to be my maid of honor. It makes me quite sad and the odd one out, to be honest.

My fiancé is having six groomsmen, and Im expected to have six bridesmaids and a maid of honour to match. The reality is that I don’t have even one bridesmaid in mind to balance out the groomsmen with bridesmaid.

To make matters harder, my family aren’t planning to attend the wedding because it’s too far away. My fiancé has actually offered to pay to fly them out so they could be there, but they don’t want to accept the money because they see it as taking charity. The other thing making this difficult is that around 80% of our wedding guests are his family and friends.

I feel quite alone in the whole situation. I see other brides talking about their sisters, best friends and childhood friends being part of their wedding, and I don’t have that experience. I’ve missed out on so much socially.

I’m scared that I’m definitely going to be the odd one out at the wedding in the US. I love my fiancé so much, and hope to fall in love with him in every lifetime ahead all over again, but I don’t want to be the weird girl he married.

Career and Education 3rd Interview - in person

Hi Ladies,

Happy Sunday!

Wondering if anything has any insight into 3rd interviews. I have never really experienced multiple interviews.

  • First interview was online - seems like just a casual chat about the job and my experience (with one person)
  • Second interview was online - competency type interview (with two people - same person as before with another who is based in another country)
  • Third interview tomorrow but in person this time

I am really unsure what to expect here as already having had 2 previous interviews.

*Education sector adjacent (not a school or unviversity)

  • Admin / student support role

  • All interviews have been ran and attended by same person (second interview included one other person) Any thoughts? Thanks!

Chat and Craic Sunday Scaries is here - share your worries and allow your mind be cleared!

As suggested in our recent feedback thread, this is your weekly space to rant and vent before the week even begins especially if you’re already exhausted by a week that hasn’t started yet.

If the dread is starting to creep in about the week ahead, work, appointments, emails life responsibilities or just the general ugh of it all.. This is the place to dump it.

Say what you’re worried about, what you’re overthinking or what you’re really not bothered dealing with tomorrow. No judgement, no advice unless you ask for it. Just get it off your chest so you can properly switch off and enjoy a bit of rest before Monday rolls back around.

Only rule: keep it respectful and within the subreddit rules.

Fashion and Beauty Nightly hair mask/oil?

Hi girls,

I struggle with anxiety and one of my self-soothing techniques was playing with my hair. over the past few years it has developed into trichtillomania, which means I’m pulling my hair out.

I’m working with psychiatrists but I’ve found that if I have an oily/greasy mask in my hair I won’t pull at it as much, because I don’t want to have it on my fingers and don’t have anywhere to wipe it off. Unfortunately most of the hair masks I’ve tried have been deep treatments which you’re only supposed to put in once a week.

Do any of you girls have recommendations for a product that I can put in my hair at night, that is oily enough to stop me pulling but won’t cause build-up?

Thanks in advance 😊

Fashion and Beauty Alternative Jewellery Brands?

Good morning! I’m looking into getting some good sterling silver jewellery, particularly necklaces, but am looking for more alternative looks rather than standard jewellery shop bits. I’m really struggling to find anywhere online that ships to Ireland without a mad shipping fee. If anyone can recommend anywhere that would be amazing, thank you!!

Fashion and Beauty 2027 bride- no idea where to start

Hi everyone! I’m getting married in 2027, and my wedding is currently planned for September. However, I’ve noticed that my skin is usually clear and glowing during the summer, whereas in September I tend to get spots and breakouts.

I’m considering moving my wedding to June or July because I really want my skin to look its best on my wedding day.

I’m 20, and I’m starting to think about everything I should be doing in advance to prepare for my wedding, particularly when it comes to skincare, hair, teeth, and overall bridal beauty.

For those who have already gotten married or are planning their weddings:

  • Would you recommend moving the wedding to summer for this reason, or am I overthinking it?
  • What should I start doing now to prepare my skin for my wedding?
  • Are there any treatments worth investing in well in advance?
  • When should I start planning hair, makeup, facials, teeth whitening, etc.?
  • What do you wish you had started doing earlier before your wedding?
  • Is there anything else I should be doing at 20 to prepare for my wedding in 2027?

I’d really appreciate any advice, especially from brides who have been through this themselves! 🤍
