get pulled over by a cop (in america), what happens is up to the officer.
lose your wallet and phone during Christmas at a mall
get fired from work where legal shenanigans by the employer make it entirely your fault
get into a major accident on the freeway at significant speed (70+ mph)
your most hated and vile ex (or bully) wins billions of dollars from a lottery ticket
get bit by a tick that causes you to become allergic to meat.

I don't mean any disrespect. But I'm White. If I get pulled over by an American cop, I'll probably be fine.

Honestly even if you are white (I am as well) I've had to deal with cops who just were having a bad day and there are virtually no checks and balances if they feel like ruining your life in the moment.

Sure, they might beat me up or put me in jail for a night. That is still much better than any of the other options.

I'd rather lose my wallet/phone than them decide to falsely charge me with a DUI and resisting. Least 10k to have a *chance* to prove you weren't impaired.

Once I got home I could have my credit cards canceled in an hour, new phone the next day, and new ID in a day or two if the DMV was open ( which now we have automated kiosk for duplicates )

Oh buddy there is so much worse they could do.

Really? Is the US that cooked? I live in a developed country with human rights 'n stuff so I wouldn't know.

Same, but I didn't choose that because the post says whatever happens to you is up to the cop. It makes it sound like they are more likely to do something that would normally get them in trouble.

Have you ever been pulled over by the cops in the USA?

Yes, as a person of color, it's always stressful.

Worse than getting in a major car crash or lose your job? Come on now

If things go too south you can lose your life, either literally or materially. It's up to the cop, and it's not like they have a good track record of not murdering or brutalizing just cause you blink at them wrong.

u/Darth_MRM 18h ago

Yeah because a crash at 70mph won't kill you anyway thank God I'm white and don't leave in usa

Cool so don’t choose that option

Yep. People have been arrested/detained for no reason, falsely accused of bullshit, and sometimes just straight up murdered for, again, zero reason.

You'll be fine if you act like an adult.

2

u/DOOMFOOL 18h ago

Nah depending on the cop and the situation it literally might not matter. You could do everything right and have a perfect attitude and they can arbitrarily choose to ruin your life if they are having a bad day

"Good evening officer, what seems to be the problem? I guess im out of blinker fluid!"

At least my kids will have a rich dad?

I wouldn't mind my ex getting a billion. I don't hate my ex.

Most likely thing to happen getting pulled over in the US is getting a warning unless you have a history of traffic violations or are disrespectful and combative.

I get that there are some high profile cases of police officers acting unlawfully in the US. However, every day there must be tens of thousands (if not hundreds of thousands or even millions) of interactions between the police and people. The risk is going to be really low.

3

u/nascent_aviator 18h ago

Surely millions. There's almost a million cops in the US. Not all on duty every day, but the ones that are probably have a two digit number of interactions with the public every day.

I don't care if my ex or bully wins billions of dollars.

u/MarioNoobman 18h ago

I have one ex and we ended on friendly terms 🤷‍♂️

I'm 17 and work 0 hours a week. I'll be fine with getting fired.

I already eat meat maybe twice a year so this is an easy one, I love sunday roast so it would be a shame to miss out on the occasional indulgence but I'd be fine

Nga are serious rn ur literally comparing car accident to getting pulled over even indian police isn't that bad syfm

u/New-Number-7810 18h ago

I’d rather lose my wallet and phone. I can cancel my cards using the phone of whoever came with me.

The crash one already happened to me. I survived but it was one of the scariest moments in my life.

2

u/IloveFriezz 18h ago

Can't get fired if I'm an unemployed college student

2

u/ragingrashawn 18h ago

My ex is a self proclaimed communist so I would love to see what they do with that much money.

1

u/TheBlueNinja2006 18h ago

I'm not white but I'll still choose the cop one

1

u/shemjaza 18h ago

Middle aged white man with an Australian accent.

I'm on my way faster than you can say "G'day officer!"

1

u/Physical_Mix_8777 18h ago

I mean I'm vegan so

2

u/dragonboysam 16h ago

my most hated bully is my dad and he might drink himself to death with that money so that one.

(he's a piece of shit but i'd never kill him because he's not worth it and that's kind of one of his win conditions {ruining my life})

u/Elliott_Queerest 11h ago

How are people not picking the losing your phone and wallet one? Just call your phone from someone else's, and then you can cancel your cards or something. Yeah it sucks but it's the least harmful option

Bro thinks what happens next is up to the officer lmfao.

IDK what he wants. I'm gonna shit myself.
