I love everything so far (gameplay-wise) about Hsin. The combos, the visual effects, etc., but the final ult is jarring.
I play on a wide screen and I have NVIDIA filters on. After doing her combo then popping ult, it really does feel like an mp4 just suddenly cut into my game. Its so different from everybody's elses ults.
I tried turning off any filter and just using default colors but its still incredibly dissonant. How do you get used to this? And why is this not the case with Aemaeth considering both of them have a very cinematic final ult?
That's because that's what the ult is. It's an MP4 that starts playing when you press the ult button. Because her ult is way too extreme to render in game.
But it does sound like there are some bugs regarding how it plays, thus leading to inconsistency among different fps
I hope it doesn't become an habit and super important characters get mp4. I prefer they do the best they can with the real time burst cuz u know it's a video and that's why when u get to reality the area feels so empty as if there were no impact at all
Problem is it's awful resolution, like on a 4k game her model looks crisp and the render behind her is awful, it's like she's sitting in the frame of a school projector
It's so crunchy it's crazy they really went through with it. They want to make it so grand that it ironically looks the most cheap ass liberation animation in the game. Still love my Hsin tho
You see Hsin doing the movements she does in the ult but all the other players see is her moving her body until the end then rocks fall and if you’re close to her you get flash banged. I LOVE using liberation next to my friends who have brightness at max 😂
In case you were being genuine, yes, the game has co-op, mostly just overworld exploration/material gathering stuff ("Hey, I farmed all of my xxxx and need 6 more, can I hop in your world with you and farm some?")
mine just looks like absolute crap no matter what I do. (for context, the animation freezes at this exact spot until the liberation is over, and it just looks crunchy)(you can see hsin buried in the numbers). I run an Ipad M3 on HD graphics
True, it's visually jarring even in normal 16:9 1440p, I play consistently on 120 fps and when I pop Ult it just reminds me each time that it's just an MP4 with hsin pasted over it floating in the middle, I don't think the video is even rendered in that high resolution, so I go from crisp high quality 1440p gameplay to like 1080p with poor bitrate and 60 fps video and it's night and day
I remember when I said in the comments of a TikTok from the previews that it looked like the ult was just an MP4 instead of being rendered real time and people called me all sorts of names
Constantly replaying a high-res video on top of an Unreal Engine game isn't necessarily better than using a low-poly real-time render if the reason is supposed to be supporting low-end devices
True but adjusting the resolution of the video based on the settings should be much easier, since that's the only variable. They didn't bother evidently, but they could've
That is no longer an excuse since they've introduced tiered resource quality, if its pre-rendered then I see no reason why they can't put higher resolution render on the HD/UHD.
I have these quality issues with all pretend-ingame cutscenes. Cinematics are fine, but things like the Lahai-Roi outro and Xuanfang intro were horrid on my screen because it's stretched 720p/1080p footage at a lower framerate.
Said the same thing here and on YouTube and got flamed for it all the same. People blinded by hype and positivity to see some flaws. Overall everything else was fine but the ult does suck ass.
Yeah but... Imagine rendering this in real time. There's a reason why they did this. And if it was, the quality and polygons everything would need to be lowered drastically to accommodate real time render. However that would put the final result at a bad spot as well.
It's not a "look, they did the best they could under the situation" scenario. It's Kuro who invented the problem. They decided they want Hsin to have an ult like that, and failed to implement it so that it looks good on high end PCs. The feedback is deserved
Exactly, they are the ones who decided they want the Ult to have 7000 buildings collapsing into each other, I can respect that they tried a different solution that would reduce lag, but I can also comment that the solution looks bad and they should try something else, after all, these are like 300 EUR+ characters
I have not personally found it jarring but I can definitely understand people feeling that way.
People joke about other characters feeling like cutscenes but this ult is actually just a cutscene that doesn't even show the enemies being hit. Just a video with damage numbers
I can understand why people dislike it, but as someone who used to play games in the 90s who used to live built in fmvs into the game I like it, maybe mostly because of nostalgia for a bygone era
What irks me is the aftermath, you have 2 huge cities collapsing onto each other, and once you leave the prerendered mp4 cutscene, theres just nthn on the field, just abit of rubble faling from above,if youre aiming for such a grand scale powers,at least make them impactfull
It looks cool, but it doesnt "feel" cool or powerfull
in co op there are few rocks and dust falling after Hsins ult. Ntg else.. the other sentinel resonators leave a visible change on the terrain but not hsin.
That tends to be the problem with anime power scaling in these games. In HSR every second ult is some huge cosmic effect, but the actual combat is just people standing in a room.
Kinda reminds me of Final Fantasy summons, all the planets have aligned etc, and a larger than Solar system blows a plasma beam that is larger than earth/Gaia, 700 damage
Yeah and the explosion slop became an habit now.
The one that worked for me was phainon cuz it's like he brings you into a digital domain then attacks u in it
That last sequence was prerendered too. That is the only way your pc can show it without collapsing fps. You can't render this in real time on the hardware people play.
It's not even that impressive. There are plenty of games with much higher graphical fidelity than Wuwa that fun infinitely better. It's just about how much effort they put into making it possible.
Yeah, this animation is kinda shit and not up to Kuro standards. They wanted to go big, and they already had giant space robots punching the planet. They flew too close to the sun with this one.
I have this problem with all ults except the release ones. Even something like Fleurdelys looks really off when she is firing off this gigantic beam that sunders the sea and sky while the enemy is just shown standing there in a pose more static than a turn-based game.
I wish it was like ZZZ or Endfield at most where the camera posing during ult has the game paused but the actual damage-dealing attack is real-time.
Because her ult is actually a video file. You better have uhd or it will feel low res due to low bitrate. You can see the gpu power usage goes down very low during her ult unlike other real-time rendered ults.
Is there anything i could possibly do to increase this bit rate? I have ultrawide 2k monitor and just installed the highest game package from sd, hd and uhd... I didn't like it on HD setting but after my client received update that I can actually download uhd I still don't see the change form HD :( idk if I am doing something wrong...
So the problem is ultrawide not the bit rate or anything else and that's the only thing I cannot change 😭😭😭 Kuro wtf do something... I just hope that one day this won't be an issue for ultrawide...
Tbh, I kinda understand but man.. I think people playing on uhd+ ultra quality or high quality should have the option to get real-time rendered ult. Our PC can handle it. 🥲
Well if not pre rendered then at least higher fps cus I am constant 120 and this drives me crazy I cannot stand anything 60 anymore and especially during finishing liberation during the fast fight.... Hope this will be fixed by Kuro
You are using the SD video assets. Try the higher resolution assets?
https://imgur.com/TI50GtF
This is HD (see the image/video corner) on 1080p with -krqlv=hd
On android you must select the HD video assets via Settings > Graphics > Resource Quality dunno if there are any UHD asset for android.
120 is locked to specific GPUs and 8 core CPUs (or specific models, dunno) for no reason. IIRC it's possible to skip this lock with some light modding.
It's not spectacle creep or anything, it's like this so people playing on toasters or consoles (more or less the same thing) don't crash if it was rendered in game
Same. Majority of her kit completely hides 1 cost and 3 cost echos (as in you cannot see them while fighting them, like the lvl 120 overworld challenges)
Visual clutter is a major issue in many multiplayer games. Because of this game's lingering and sometimes excessive effects it manages to achieve it... Can you imagine Suisui Zone + Hsin Zone as swords keep falling from the sky while you try to see what Suoming is doing when she is released?
Even before Suoming, when i see people playing Hsin, Jinshi and Suisui it can get too much! I hope they tone things down or at least make an option to reduce visual clutter
Is it just me or the Ult also feels laggy in a weird way. There are enough frames yes but either different parts of the ult play at different speeds or it just stutters. Like time slows down just before the buildings start collapsing.
For me , for some reason the second half of her ult when the building comes into play it looks incredibly low fps like 15 or 20 or something , the rest of it is fine . Idk how to fix that
One thing I noticed with her ult is that when it’s slowed down (like when killing the final boss of the weekly challenge) it’s really not fluid like other characters’ ult. And I really wonder why Kuro didn’t make it fluid like with everyone else.
After Aemeath's Ult cutscene, there's an actual indication of the Ult hitting after you exit the cutscene (I was lazy and just used the first video I could find online). Meanwhile, after Hsin's Ult ends, the only thing that has changed is that Hsin and your screen is glowing
Aemeath's ult isn't a cutscene, it's an in-engine real time 3d render with a background. That's why the sword sometimes takes a moment to fully render its texture and why you actually see the enemies and other stuff very small at the bottom during the ult while Hsin's ult is just video and numbers.
But I definetly agree that Hsin's ult needs some impact on the battlefield as well.
Yeah the ult is taken directly from one of the new story cutscenes. Honestly it'd be fine if it had an aftermath after the ult finished. But nothing happens afterwards.
the ult just needs some cosmetic fine tuning, don't know why it doesn't get affected by in game filters. or why they didn't consider multiple resolutions for it. but my guess is they really tried to make it all 3d but it was just too resource intense even in 3 different hd cycles.
They just play a video to run in the background yes. Others are actual in game render with only some element are png for background. The lighting and color grading simply wont match. I have never thought her ulti look that good. If they keep doing it in the future, it will just be too lazy
Just record a big wide screen 4K video and play it instead of the current ult, then make it so our settings decide what quality the video plays at, simple.
I 100% agree. I think maybe it's better if you play at 60 or 30 fps but at 120 fps it's extremely jarring due to the pre-rendered animation being locked at 60 fps.
They also didn't do enough with the effects after the animation ends, it's such a huge animation and then just... nothing. She just kinda lands there and there's a little bit of rubble, it looks so strange and feels like it didn't actually hit the enemy.
The animation on it's own looks amazing but when it's incorporated into the gameplay like that, it sucks.
I honestly find it hilarious that people are starting to ACCEPT and NOTICE it now. There were a lot of hostilities towards me back then when I called it out on how Hsin's resonance liberation is simply a video overlay.
Yes our company just released their new character! Only high end devices can use her! Others will crash trying to use her! Have fun with her! Please pull her!
Then they should have done sth managable instead of prerendering. Its kinda lazy way that imo may decrease overall quality of chars od they keep using it.
Hsins liberation looks really bad on my 3440x1440p Ultrawide. It looks very low res and stretched in the same way the newer cutscenes look like starting from 2.6 abd especially 3.0
The pre rendered video cutscenes look so bad and high quality. I prefered the live in game rendered ones. You could make beautiful screenshots before but not anymore. Kind of sucks because that was the most special thing about wuwa.
Last time they did a full render big Ult was Aemeath and they have to made a special half Exostrider models with low polygon so the game wouldn't crash, also have the funny bug of it getting a seizure if your game can't load the model fast enough on HDD drive.
It also used to summon the Exostrider in Coop but it also crashed the game so it was removed
Aemeath ult is probably last time they gonna do full render massive ult with how many technical problem it has
might be ludicrous from me but this is the reason i'm skipping hsin... literally every unit in this game has a better ult than hsin... galbrena, cartethiya, jinshi, aemeath, augusta, mornye, lucy, rebecca, qingxiao, and many more... literally every single ult in this game is IN GAME. even suoming's ult is way cooler to me than hsin's.
as someone who does not do any endgame content ever (too lazy to care abt echo farming/minmaxxing/gameplay in general), only quests/events/dailies, this patch has been pretty disappointing. it's not BAD at all, they just set the bar way too high with aemeath and lucy patches IMO.
even after catching up with story, i really don't understand hsin's gameplay vfx and what it has to do with being a fox. her gameplay and combat is way too "techy" and not "fantasy." and her fox form having no movement at all is also really disappointing. aemeath is a sentinel resonator and she gets a whole mecha to explore with... and apparently a sentinel itself gets.. a fox? with no double jump or air dashing or anything cool or fun??? even lynae can use rollerblades...
The problem of trying to cater to everyone is you'll piss someone. That's the "optimized" way of doing Hsin's Ult without frying most low and some mid range devices.
Free advertising for whales to play and make purchases.
You shouldn’t sacrifice profit for advertising, unless you are intentionally making a loss for long term profit growth, which is irrelevant in this specific business model.
Though I’m not a whale, I’m sure I’m not the only one who held off S6 Hsin after having the intention to do so, simply due to the poor Resonance Liberation.
You clearly lack said intelligence because nobody here was talking about “bitrate” or video quality, but which Ult in general is better, that’s a subjective take and the fact that one of them can be done in engine while the other has to be pre rendered is irrelevant.
If you can’t have a proper discussion, you can take your insults and piss off.
Now for your additional claim about pre rendered vs in engine, of course making that animation in game would result in higher quality for systems that can natively do it, I suspect the recent downgrade for most players to “HD” quality plays a role in lower bitrate than it should be, which should be fixed in 3.8 where all players will have access to “UHD” pack from 3.6 and prior. But as it stands, Kuro’s approach works out for the majority of players due to the game’s availability from Mobile devices to PCs with 250x the performance. Unlike Aemeath’s ult, Hsin’s is simply undoable on lower end systems
I don't know much about game dev but I wish they use 2D sprites for the background and the foreground is real 3D or the buildings that hitting each other and the dust and rubble would be a Sprite Sheet or flipbook instead of particle simulation if that's what they're doing on the pre-render or maybe a different camera or execution of the ult.
Whenever you kill the boss using the ult they slow down the mp4 doesn't have much FPS to begin with and it'll look like I'm lagging lol. I thought the issue will be resolve for the UHD update with a higher bitrate but its not enough for me they need to increase the quality and fps of the pre render for this one especially it's a very short duration.
Thats what happens when your game is stuck in UE4 , really extravagant ults are just too demanding with how much they pushed the graphics in 3.0 .
Honestly they could easily fix the jarring feeling by changing the fps on the video and by adding an arena effect similar to suisui but just add rubble all over.
The pre render ult is a massive downgrade in quality from what we've gotten before. It just looks so bad compared to her other animations which is 11/10 quality.
It IS an mp4. How good it looks depends on the preset you chose from the new quality feature. UHD will look the best, while the others will be more compressed and less sharp.
It's because it's straight up an mp4, people playing on toasters and consoles can't run the animation without crashing. All of this because the same people chimped out when they couldn't run Aemeath's ult
please dont tell me you want to render all that, just wish for an uhd prerendered video for you to match your high end pc, most of us who have low to mid end devices.
i remember the end of rinascita, the devs said they want an all out war not just the playable characters but concern our devices even the gigh end ones cant handle it and i want them to continue that way to think about us who got stuck in the absurd pc prices and low end devices.
Then just optimize the ult for performance instead of repetitive spectacle. Why are you assuming that the only options are "laggy in-game ult animation" and "pre-rendered ult animation" as if we don't have a plethora of ults that are outside of these two categories?
I dunno about PC but playing on mobile, the video doesn't even play at least a quarter of the time, and the one for her first ult never seems to play at all in the overworld, which is... not great
It's a 30 fps prerendered cinematic her model stays 144 fps that's what I play on with 2x framegen quality DLSS game still looks great and some visual noise I can tolerate but when I went into Hsin trial did the liberation the 30 fps flashbanged my ass. I was not considering to get her never was this just made me not care even on reruns.
Hsin’s ult is literally a cutscene that plays with her overlaid on top. Aemath’s is an actual 3D rendition of a scene happening with 2d effects overlaid on top.
I remember everyone glazing that but having seen it in game yeah it just doesn't work when it's a completely different visual quality, at least not for me.
Yes it is prerendered video cutscene. The ult real 3D animation maybe far beyond current hardware capability to do it realtime with acceptable framerate
Hmm been playing on my phone since my pc started to give out and didnt want to reinstall and its fine there ig id notice more if its on a bigger screen +unlimited fps
My tv is locked on 60 fps and the uea4 engine crashes in this game after every update so im definitely ok with less pressure on the system from an mp4 ovrerlay then a crash every 2 rotations of real time render
Is this first world problem? No offense, but i have rtx 3080,outdated but i prefer to play it at 60fps. Just because it just feels right in this kind of game
Should have picked a different design for the ult then. Even on a 1440p 27” the final attack looks like when a game plops a 1080p pre-rendered cutscene on your screen.
I knew immediately that her gameplay style and animations were not for me because of the cinematic animations playing over and over. They gave me Aemond vibes. I like the designs, but I despise the gameplay design.

That's because that's what the ult is. It's an MP4 that starts playing when you press the ult button. Because her ult is way too extreme to render in game.
But it does sound like there are some bugs regarding how it plays, thus leading to inconsistency among different fps
