I mean, the Thin Men at least managed to look good eventually...

I thought canonically Thin Men are Vipers in XCOM 2?

u/Hozan_al-Sentinel 12h ago

Yeah they are the same species. Some of them were genetically modified to look human.

They definitely are. The in-universe explanation was “infiltration units were no longer necessary,” which is funny because shortly after we are introduced to the Faceless (I forget if that’s what they’re called). But it isn’t impossible to imagine some were held back from undergoing these modifications to Vipers so they could continue infiltrating.

Basically Thin Men were made with the genetic equivalent of spit shine and duct tape and were mostly a rushed job, Faceless were specifically designed from the ground up to infiltrate resistance strongholds. Also The Speaker is very much a more refined Thin Man.

Thin Men were created from Vipers, but the Speaker is kind of implied to be a leftover/new one ADVENT is using for PR

They kept a couple in thin-skins for roles like The Speaker. You can see the thin-man mottling on his neck.

16

u/Vinjulmik 12h ago

I legit didn't know the speaker was one of them.

26

u/Hopalongtom 12h ago

The pattern on his neck is the giveaway.

14

u/Kaymazo 11h ago

It's technically not confirmed, but the fact he survived the angry mob, hiding his eyes, and the scales on his neck kind of indicate he's not a regular human.

7

u/Cliomancer 11h ago

At the very least I figured he was a human given bonus augments for his quisling deeds.

6

u/UnderPressureVS 8h ago

“Not confirmed” dude he’s wearing the exact same glasses and he has snake skin on his neck. They don’t really need to spell it out.

And the Speaker also sounds good - he is voiced by Brandon Keener aka Garrus Vakarian xd

8

u/Raivnholm 10h ago

Noooo shit, my boy Garrus is the speaker? Learn something new every day.

10

u/TeriyakiNekoNinja 10h ago

YES, THAT IS HIM.

Also...

In the 1st game, there were Brian Bloom (XCOM2 Bradford / Varic from Dragon Age) and Kimberly Brooks (Ashley Williams) as soldiers, Courtney Taylor (Jack) as XCOM AI.

XCOM2 also has Matthew Mercer as a US soldier. And many more known names.

Both games have Jon Bailey - aka the epic voice from Honest Trailers - as the Councilor.

Not to mention 5 TNG actors in WOTC.

6

u/TeriyakiNekoNinja 8h ago

Yep. And the hierarchy from TNG is kept:

  • Volk (Riker) is Dragunova's (Troi) superior
  • Betos (Tasha Yar) is Mox's (Worf) superior
  • and Geist (X) is the crazy one xd

Oh, and Nolan North is the Chosen Hunter.

3

u/shinobigarth 8h ago

Oh haha Nolan North is in everything ever so that’s not that surprising.

1

u/TeriyakiNekoNinja 8h ago

True 😅 But the Hunter is the coolest new character from WOTC.

u/Cmdr-Asaru 8h ago

No matter what franchise he's a part of, John de Lancie just can't seem to avoid roles where he's some form of a seemingly all-powerful trickster that loves causing chaos and roping others into playing along with his schemes.

It was still great to have him as Geist, though. I just wish his character and the Templars had gotten more narrative focus like the Skirmishers and Reapers did.

1

u/RJ815 5h ago

Q, but yes. It was trippy to hear them and slowly realize how much of the TNG cast is in WotC.

u/Hopeful_Risk_8344 8h ago

And Jake Busey is the radio host

Thought she was a Dell.

She's actually an Alienware.

21

The hilarious thing is I am part of the ufo community on X and they're actually thinking she is a Reptilian shapeshifter

17

u/Harold3456 11h ago

You love to hear it.

The right wing capture of the conspiracy theorist spaces has been frustrating because they still go on about their aliens and reptilians and deep states and false flags, but then glaze the guy who brags about all of his deep state/false flag schemes while surrounded by barely-humans

u/MystinarOfficial 11h ago

While I am not denying there is an annoyingly large right-wing MAGA Christian Nationalist presence in the UFO and paranormal circles, there are also an equally large and larger number of centrist, liberal, democratic scientific minds and researchers present on X as well. Ted Roe of UAP medical coalition is a democratic individual that has a circle of therapists and doctors that have obtained medical documentation through forensic therapy of legitimate ufo abductions and encounters with ufo pilots and their crew members.

But yes, everything you've just described, absolutely does happen there, just know that there is a large growing presence of rationally minded individuals also.

Word of advice though, almost every UFO and paranormal group here on reddit is fucking hot garbage and drama, they're worse than X is, especially with the Christian Nationalists like Representative Paulina Luna saying that ufos are demons... a lot of us are abductees like myself who just want to find answers

1

u/Different_One9412 10h ago

The ufo and conspiracy subs on reddit too

1

u/MystinarOfficial 10h ago

Yeah, well, they typically draw from the same pool of people so yep. I'm in them too I'm just one of the more grounded people that stays quiet and just studies it all

No Mark Zuckerberg? Lowest hanging fruit and it’s ethical to make fun of him

29

u/DarkLight_Eon 11h ago

It's unethical NOT to make fun of him.

14

u/mr_nuts31 12h ago

Surprised you haven’t mentioned Victor Wembanyama, he’s literally called the alien for a reason.

2

u/GumboMumbo49 11h ago

I’m pretty sure sure I’ve seen his lanky ass in One Piece.

5

u/Stretch5678 9h ago

This is an insult to Thin Men.

At least they put the effort into snazzy glasses and sharp suits!

2

u/Angry_Walnut 9h ago

The snake form actually looks a lot more appealing than these

2

u/4011isbananas 8h ago

Dude, you're getting a thin man.

4

u/Waiting404Godot 11h ago

I know we shouldn’t make fun of people for how they look…. But I also know there’s exceptions to every rule.

12

u/BluntieDK 11h ago

I reserve the right to make fun of them when they deliberately cultivate the look I want to make fun of.

3

u/ericph9 8h ago

they deliberately cultivate the look

This is the key point. Many of these people, especially Ms. Dell, could have afforded the very best surgery in the world. She either knowingly chose a terrible surgeon, or chose not to do the "maintenance" procedures. This much work tends to cost a bit under a hundred thousand dollars, with a couple thousand worth of procedures every few years afterward to maintain it. The wife of the founder of Dell Computer can afford to pay 10x that without blinking an eye, and doesn't have to worry about missing work for a month (which actors and models would) as the swelling subsides and everything settles back into place.

Image 1 looks like one of the puppets for Blart & Sons. Just look up the He’s In The Walls clip and I dare you to tell me I’m wrong!

1

u/Dark_Sign 7h ago

This is what Roger looks like in disguise IRL

1

u/Khaim 7h ago

These are photoshopped, right?

u/Rustcityafternon 11h ago

Isn't one of these a burn victim or did i fall for misinformation
