By Dirt Nasty / Simon Rex. Anyone remember the song? And who do you think did it?

Let's pretend it's 1985! You're going to the theaters, and both of these films are now showing. Which cinema would you like to watch?

No this is not a double feature, and yes you could only pick 1 just for fun!

Cinema 1 - Day of the Dead

Cinema 2 - The Return of the Living Dead

I started to think that they were running a casino out of the kitchen.

One more thing to add to the “I don’t understand the modern age” list, I suppose.

How are you feeling about our tech evolution?

Every day I’m thankful I grew up in a pre-internet world, and that I’ve been able to witness the tech evolution that got us to where we are today.

Maybe it’s AI being pushed absolutely everywhere, the surveillance cameras popping up on my neighborhood streets, social media being a cesspool for our society, or everything getting wildly expensive, but I’ve found myself starting to feel disgusted by the tech world. I used to be the guy who needed the new smart phone, needed the new gaming console, needed the new fancy gadget. Now I’m looking up how to transition to dumb phones and old school mp3 players. I don’t want any part of this anymore.

Are you still all in and excited by new tech, or do you feel completely burnt out and over it like I do?

Wine

I remember going for dinner with friends, and often people would open a bottle of of wine and “let it breathe”. Looking back I think they were just trying to look like they knew something other people didn’t, but it’s absolute nonsense.

Or maybe because you were waiting for the show that was on next?

Drew Carey was sandwiched between episodes of the Simpsons so I probably watched it like 5 nights a week.

Nostalgia Horace Pinker The Underrated Slasher (From Shocker)

I really like this character & the Shocker movie in general, it's a shame it never got the sequel it deserved. Mitch Pileggi also did an amazing job in this role.

I not only like the concept for Horace Pinker but also the visual. The checkered prison clothing with white sleeves, his burnt bald head, & his crazy eyes. He can also produce electricity & turn into a digital form which i think is super unique for a slasher villain.

So a Teen Girl Squad image showed up in the Angelina handwriting post for some reason and nobody was mad about it and that got me wondering if HomestarRunner was a micro-generation thing and maybe even possibly a geographical thing?? Or did all Xennials love it? For me and my college friends, it was deeply loved in Athens GA, 2000-2002. What about you?

Granted the handwriting isn't great, but are we the last generation that can read this? (Swipe for larger view)

Hot Cross Buns, anyone?? 😂

I believe we were forced en masse to learn the charms of the recorder in grades 4/5 which for me would’ve been around ‘90-‘92 (born in ‘81). It’s blacked out, but the piece of masking tape on the case has my name that I wrote on it when I was in elementary school, when I still crossed the J in my first name. 😭 And check out this hip hook of contemporary tunes! (I think this was actually for our Yamaha keyboard back in those days, but it was also a fun little find.)

Also found my middle school yearbooks. Going home tomorrow now that I am feeling confident about my recovery, but maybe tomorrow morning I can try and unearth some more of my childhood treasures before I leave. ❤️

In honor of the Stun Runner post earlier, here’s a blast from the past. I was so excited for the chance to arm wrestle Saddam’s ass right out of Kuwait.

Shout out to Galloping Ghost arcade in Chicago. It’s a must visit for any Xennial. They literally have all the games.
