Discussion Did You Can See Everything change how you view Primetime?
Found it interesting that YCSE can change the context of Primetime sort of. Idk if I’m the only one who kept comparing the two but I was curious to see if anyone else has thought about it much.
-both directed by Oppenheim (obviously)
-both share a lot of thematic DNA
-Oppenheim kind of made his own version of “The Dropout” but for Chris Hansen
-The central quote about “they’re playing a character I created” vs. “they’re playing a character they created”
Not sure if it makes Primetime better or worse for me!

"You Can See Everything" Is a Great Documentary. But You Might Want to Temper Your Expectations Going In.
I ran to the theater to see this. It's a really great movie, especially if you're a fan of documentaries, but I'd probably give it an 8/10, not the 10/10 I was hoping to give, but that's ok.
I think my expectations were just a little too high, especially for where the film would go after Elizabeth Holmes goes to prison (which isn't a spoiler, considering it was all over the news that year). As a Nathan Fielder fan, I expected things to get increasingly wild, but the film is actually more grounded and subdued than his recent work.
And that's not a bad thing! Not every project needs to be bigger or crazier than the last. But I do think the expectations set by critics hurt my experience a little.
"This is the craziest thing you'll see all year!" "You are not prepared!" "I couldn't believe what I was seeing!"
Guys, it's not that crazy, lol.
I think some of the overwhelming praise comes from critics who enjoyed the surprise release and people who might not be as familiar with Fielder or Oppenheimer's work. If you know their styles, I think you'll have a pretty good idea of what to expect. It's more The Rehearsal Season 1 than Season 2, if you know what I mean.
Ultimately, this is a documentary about Elizabeth Holmes and the nature of truth, to where sometimes even a word makes all the difference. It's a great watch, but if you're going in expecting Fielder to pull off some insane stunt or reach The Rehearsal Season 2 levels of absurdity, I'd temper those expectations. It's a much quieter film than that, and I think if you go in knowing that, you'll have an easier time appreciating it on those terms.

Cringe Grown adults obsessively checking every decimal movement of the Letterboxd score for a Nathan Fielder documentary instead of doing literally anything else with their weekend:

Furry Shit Furry Litmus Test
Hello, peoples of YMS. I have a question for the furries amogus.
For a while now, I have been referring to myself by the term “furry adjacent” because I never considered myself a full fledge furry. However, I have recently been wasting my time with AI interactive story apps and I have only been doing furry ones and monster girl ones. The human ones never seem to appeal to me. There has also been a few people in the comments of some YMS Clips videos that involving a rabbit woman, whether it was Lola or Judy I do not remember, and someone commented that purely on the merit of having the hots for said rabbit women I am indeed a furry. One of the AI stories also had a rabbit woman that I chose over a wolf and fox for.
So does anyone have some sort of accurate test I can take that will determine to what extend I could be a furry? Or am I just overthinking the whole thing?

I’ve never gone to the movies alone before
I just purchased my ticket for a 1:30 showing of You Can See Everything. Obviously, I’ve thought about doing this countless times, for tons of other movies, but It’s never, ever felt to me quite as “ok” as this did.

Meme/Shitpost For anyone who was annoyed at their theatre’s laughter during You Can See Everything, why do you hate fun?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
^^Adum’s first reaction to seeing Nathan in the trailer btw
Seeing lots of people annoyed with their audiences’ laughter at Nathan’s presence on screen, especially in the first half of the movie. I personally thought those moments were purposefully funny, and the film later settles into a tone that still allows for laughter.
Seems like the people who didn’t catch the humor of Nathan’s weird cadence aren’t familiar with his work.

Discussion Ok, We have to talk about this movie because my god…
This movie did not go at all as I thought and I really didn’t have many expectations.
To me, the strangest thing is the part no one’s talking about. That she doesn’t water down her story to a more defensible position. She doesn’t say that she built a better blood tester than anyone else on the market and that she exaggerated it to get rich investors. She and her boyfriend genuinely act as though she did build the end-all, ultimate, doctor-replacing blood tester and that just no one gets it.
There’s actually a scene in which someone who works for them begins to make that point. That they overpromised but still delivered an impressive medical device that will eventually become the machine she talked about. But when he makes this argument, the boyfriend storms in to shut the interview down. I have no idea why, it was the only convincing argument that made her look slightly good.
Wild documentary. Please give me your thoughts on this movie because I can’t stop thinking about it.
