Questions Do Yemenis intermarry anymore?
I saw a video on social media where the girl was 100% south levant (palestinian) and there was comment joking like “Damn…this’s Yemeni levels of keeping it ancestrally tight MashAllah.” Then I started to have conversations with my mum who is half Yemeni and half Somali - her dad is Yemeni, who was saying they used to intermarry a lot and I was disagreeing saying she’s mostly a rare case etc. is this true? Or am I wrong?

I saw an online post about a dude from Arhab marrying an Italian woman a while ago. It's much more common nowadays for northerners to intermarry than before, but it's still quite strict relative to other regions.

Because marrying outside of our people is how we work towards becoming one ummah, and decreasing racism and colorism (if done correctly and respectfully)
Edit: my community is VERY MUCH the type to marry first cousins almost always, and even I avoided marrying a cousin. Thats how close to it i am.

yes I completely agree - there’s so much colourism and racism within Arab communities and even black communities, we need to do better as an ummah. I thought you were against it initially lol

It depends on region. In North Yemen, tribes like the Banu Hamdan often marry within their own tribal networks, while in the South and West like Aden and Hodeida, intermarriage with South Asians, Ethiopians, and Somalis has been common historically and of course in modern times.
