Job Seekers should include the following:

  • Improper format: Your comment must follow one of the formats above for employers or job seekers.

General Building in Zambia Showcase Thread

Welcome to our official monthly space for entrepreneurs, builders, and innovators to share what they’re working on.

We all want to support local businesses but..... nobody wants the sub turning into a wall of ads. This thread exists to strike that balance: visibility and value.

What to Post

If you're building something, startup, side hustle, community project this is your moment. Share:

  • What you’re building
  • The problem you’re solving (especially locally 🇿🇲)
  • A lesson learned this past month
  • Your goals for the next month

Think of this as a “build in public” update, not just an advert.

Posting Rules

To keep quality high:

  • No referral links, affiliate links, or “DM for price” posts (unlike job opportunities in this country lets try to keep thing transparent, 'kay?)
  • Must include a meaningful write-up (low-effort posts will be removed)
  • Must include at least one lesson learned or real insight
  • Be ready to engage, reply to comments and questions

Participation Requirements

To prevent spam and flyby promotions:

  • Accounts must be at least 6 months old
  • Must have prior activity in r/Zambia

For more frequent promotions, polls, feedback, and deeper business discussions, check out r/ZambianBusinesses.

This is the ONLY place on r/Zambia where any form of advertising or promotion is allowed.
Standalone promotional posts outside this thread will be removed.

General Lusaka job hunting

Job hunting in Lusaka and other parts of Zambian is exhausting

I live with my parents but I genuinely feel like I am in extreme poverty but I don't even have a coin on

My question is why do Zambian business owners post saying they are looking for workers and when you apply they don't answer, they don't even delete the post

I feel like some of these people get jobs through connections but what about us with none😭

Apparently this year, Lusaka has experienced a huge number of unemployed people and I am one them oh god

How are people genuinely finding jobs ai, please share if you can, even if it's remote work

Ask r/Zambia Starting a Small Online Business in Kabwe with K1,000 What Would You Sell?

Hi everyone! 👋🏽

I'm looking to start a small online business in Kabwe, but honestly, I'm not really sure where to begin or what products would be worth selling.

My starting capital is around K1,000, and I'd like to start small, sell online, and hopefully grow the business over time. I'm open to buying products from local suppliers or importing affordable items if the numbers make sense.

I've considered things like clothes, perfumes, accessories, and other small items, but I'm not sure what people in Kabwe would actually buy or what would be realistic with my budget.

I'd really appreciate advice from anyone who has started a small business in Zambia, especially those who sell through WhatsApp, Facebook, TikTok, or other online platforms.

A few questions I have:

What products would you recommend selling in Kabwe with a K1,000 starting budget?

Where do you source your products at affordable prices?

Is it better to buy a small amount of stock first or take orders before buying?

What mistakes should a beginner avoid?

If you were starting again today with only K1,000, what business would you start, and why?

I'm not expecting to make huge profits overnight. I just want to start something realistic, learn as I go, and build it into a proper business.

I'd especially appreciate advice from people who have actually tried this, rather than just general suggestions. Even small experiences or lessons would help me a lot.

Thank you! ❤️

Humour The "good old" zambian flag?

So this just a person opinion on the current flag of our country and as well as just to ask if anyone has a similar idea as mine

So with independence coming up and all I thought this would be the base time to ask this, so to start does anyone else think our flag needs a redesign? For a long time whenever I look at our flag I always thought there would be a better way to represent Zambia's core points on the the current flag, it just looks like it was designed in under 5 minutes and frankly speaking eagles aren't orange and the black orange and red can do a lot more than just being cramped in the corner

It this good take or is it just me

General Dermatologist needed asap😭

• Upvotes

Does anyone know a dermatologist in Ndola or just anywhere in the country that I can talk about my hair problem,I’m currently 18 years and over the last few days I’ve noticed that my hairline keeps getting thinner and thinner at a rapid pace which is very depressing for me coz I see people above 40 with full hairlines and here I am at 18 with a thinning hair line …no one in my family is bald from both sides actually.so please can anyone connect me to a dermatologist so that I can know if it’s just naturally balding so that I can get some treatment to slow it down or if it’s Alopicia(forgot the spelling.

General It’s kind of hard to make friends as someone who is agnostic leaning towards atheism.

Hi guys, this is kind of a messy post so bare with me, my first post on here kinda nervous 😔.

I’m 19f and fruity. I left Christianity a while back. I’m still navigating through how I feel and what I believe as an individual, I am still kind of spiritual just not Christian or anything like that but I do believe in the universe and that wacky stuff if you would call it.

Anyways EVERYONE around me except my partner is religious and it’s kind of suffocating in a way, don’t get me wrong I love my friends (I only have like 4 lol) but I want to be able to be free yk? My whole family is religious as hell too and I’m kind of tired of pretending I’m into it now 😭.

I have a hard time making friends in general mainly because im kind of introverted and awkward the first few times I interact with people unless they are open minded and free spirited and also get bored easily if someone is nonchalant.

Anyways is it just me or others also struggle with stuff like this? Or is anyone currently in this situation and how are you dealing with it?

General Age of Consent

Here’s something I’ve never understood,

By Law! Age of Consent in Zambia is 16 years old.

So in essence a man/woman,30+ years old.
Can have a relationship with a 16 year old girl and by law that wouldn’t be illegal!

I remember general kanene once had a relationship with an 17 y/o girl(stand to be corrected) and was arrested.

How does the law work exactly sorrounding consent and and age?
If anyone knows.

General Airtel outage for certain customers

Yesterday, around 20 hours, my airtel Internet totally disappeared. Full bars but no traffic. The rest of my household still has connectivity but people have also reported the same problem.

I called airtel and they admitted to having network issues but the upsetting part is, they don't inform or mention it anywhere(only thing i found was about india). Not even a Facebook post to address it, they just leave you bumblingin the dark. Couldn't even send money to my mtn sim to buy data.

I was lucky enough to have a backup. I just wanted to know how many others are experiencing the same

(I understand if they don't have Internet, they won't see this post till they do, don't be funny, lol)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’m planning a 4 day birthday trip from Lusaka to Siavonga in March 2027 and need return transport for around 10 people so ideally I’d love a reliable small bus like a Hiace or Noah or something like that with a responsible, experienced and sober driver to transport my friends and I plus our luggage. Please share leads or your offers inclusive of all costs like fuel. Thanks!
