Question Chivhayo friend requests on Facebook

I used to get these on Facebook everyday , and I got one on reddit too. Like did these guys really think we would fall for this ? And what exactly was the end game here?

These are mostly small time scammers. They would ask you to pay some fee like $25 for a chance to meet Wicknel. Some were selling some sort of Chivayo membership cards. I remember when he died some guy wa saying it was sad for him for Chivayo to die before they met because he had partially paid $25 for the $35 membership card.
