Announcement UPDATE: Low effort posts

A few days ago, we ran a poll to decide whether low effort posts should be allowed or not. The results were shocking! Not really. Majority voted "remove them". We have set up filters to automatically queue certain posts for review and require a moderator to approve them before they go live.

If you’ve submitted a post and it is detected as low-effort, karma farming, rage-bait or something designed to create arguments, you may have received a message saying, “Your post is awaiting approval.” Refer to Rule 9 and Rule 10.

Hopefully, this will help us minimise low-quality and Twitter-style content while still allowing legitimate discussions to take place. This is what the majority of you voted for. We are simply implementing the community’s decision.

Thank you all for your feedback and for helping us improve the community.

M4F Looking for love

I am 36M 186 cm tall fit shape my friend recommended this subreddit to me because at that point he had met someone here. So thought to shoot my shot and try meet someone in Harare.

I am looking to have a genuine connection with someone who I can have good conversations with. I believe the best connections start with someone you can have a good friendship with and can joke around with and have meaningful life conversations with.

I work as a manager. I enjoy participating in sports and love running. I do a marathon every year and also triathlon. So if you like biking and running we will have that in common. I love to read, cook and host dinner parties. I love to travel and have been to every continent. I am the kind of person interested in trying things at least once. I am Christian myself but do not mind if you are not.

As a preference I prefer someone younger than me. I do prefer skinny/slim/average woman. I don’t care about height short or tall. I value healthy communication habits and prefer someone with strong family values. I like woman who have their own goals in life and are chasing something.

Thought I would shoot my shot and see if maybe I can find someone or helplessly get torn down in the comments. Feel free to send me a dm or ask me any questions. Also happy to share photos

Need Advice How do you handle rejection with genuine intentions?

How do you deal with rejection when your intentions are pure and you're genuinely looking for something meaningful as a sober guy?

I understand that nobody owes me a chance, but rejection can still affect your confidence and make you afraid to try again.

Discussion Your Wife/Husband is Your Next of Kin

Worked a bit in Finance. The number of people who were genuinely surprised that their wives were automatically their next of kin and chief custodian of their estate if they passed on was always interesting. Rich and middle class alike. Just went to show most people didn't fully understand the full legal implications of marriage.

Basically if you die Surviving Spouse ndiye ava Panyanga. Not your kids. Not your brother. Not your Sister. Wills and Trusts work but you need to have given foreknowledge to your spouse. Otherwise a judge may rip it up.

Zvinhu zvacho zviri complex.

M4F Looking for new friends online

Hey everyone

I'm a 25-year-old guy looking to meet new people online. I love art and used to draw a lot. Maybe one day I'll pick up the pencil again. I also play chess, though I'm definitely still a noob. When it comes to music, I'm an old school guy at heart. Thomas Mapfumo is one of my favorites these days. I do watch anime sometimes, for example Assassination Classroom

If any of that sounds like you, or you just want to chat about music, art, or random stuff, send me a message. Tell me a bit about yourself and what you like.

Discussion 25F looking for devout Christian man

Hello everyone, it's me again (the match maker) and I want to thank all those who DM'd me.

My first client is a young lady of 25 years. She's currently pursuing her Master's, and is working full time. She's looking to be in an intentional relationship with a gentleman who has a strong relationship with GOD, goal oriented and is willing to build something together apart from a family and a home. If you are that type of guy, do hit me up in the DM.

If you want help being matched, my DM is still open for placements, but slots are few

RANT/VENT Reddit isn't that anonymous for oddly specific questions

So this one time I was seeing a this beautiful lady i met at a conference in Harare and exchanged numbers after we hit it off. We talked a lot but had just never spoken about reddit so she didn't know I was an avid redditor. Then one day I'm scrolling on here and I see a vent so I go to read it and gaya my surprise to see kuti tye post was about me .

Sister was complaining about tye certain differences we had and if she should be concerned ( can't get much into details.)

And the comments were roasting me baba, people calling me all sorts of things only because she didn't articulate nyaya yake zvakanaka . We didn't last after that coz I was completely turned off, never confronted her about it but haa , pakabhaizika . She eventually deleted her account and I hope she didn't make a new on coz now she will know that I knew

Edit : handisirini wekunyima mwana magunanzi auya pa den 😭😭🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 .

RANT/VENT Men: No means No

Yesterday, I was walking around my neighborhood, minding my own business because I wasn't in a good mood and just needed some air.

Anyway I see this runner and I was like "let's gooo" trying to hype him up, just being friendly.

After some time he comes up to me and starts asking for my number. I told him I'm not interested and that I have a boyfriend (I'm single but I had to say that). He wouldn't take no for an answer and kept asking for my name. I told him I don't want to talk to him.

This dude then proceeded to FOLLOW me for like 40 minutes saying if I don't give him my number he will keep following me. I was actually scared.

I finally took a picture and a video of him and that made him go away. But then he came BACK and told me to delete his pic, which I did just to get him to leave. Then he finally went away and I got home safely.

Like why are men so entitled? I literally don't get how harassing a woman to give you her number is attractive lmao. He didn't even say sorry.

Gents please understand that following women is NOT cute, it's not flirty, it's not persistent, it's scary as hell. We are not going to change our mind or suddenly like you just because you harass us and stalk us for 40 minutes. If anything it makes us like you LESS. No means no, the first time.

I just needed a place to vent, thanks for listening.

Discussion Being should teach u how to truly love yourself

I just saw this funny quote😂😂, hanzi be careful if a naked person offers you a shirt. It's basically pointing out the fact that you cannot love someone else if you do not know how to love yourself. How can you hate yourself so much but have the strength and will to say "i love you' to Another person. In conclusion, when you're single do nice things to yourself. I realised that after my ex broke up with me, i had all these travel plans in mind all because i was with her, movies, comedy shows and even going on a hike. Take yourself out for once and see how it feels because why do we do all this great stuff for others while we never do those things for ourselves. Especially Men, go on that solo date mirai zvekuda kufamba famba just because une bhebhi

Some people have a beautiful way of making you glad you took the chance.

I mean, come on, it’s Reddit 😭😂 You never know who you’ll meet, but somehow, amidst all the randos, weirdos, and questionable intentions, I found someone genuine. Meaningful calls, intellectually stimulating conversations, and the kind of honest judgments that sting a little but are still true. This particular person is kind and very likable.

Most importantly, the beautiful time I had yesterday was their idea and a promise kept.

Funny how things work out. You’re appreciated, and you’re loved.

To whoever had given up, hang in there😊

Discussion Gold diggers

Ladies do you also completely lose feelings when you figure out that a guy is not rich? I had never considered myself to be a gold digger because I also make my own money🤑 but I am starting to believe I am one

To my fellow ladies who used to be like this, did you ever change? If you settled with a guy who doesn’t have much money are you happy?

Discussion If you grew up with these apps, how's the marriage going? 🤣

Post image
29 Upvotes

Long before the days of Tinder, Bumble, Badoo or even Instagram, and back when Reddit was still an obscure corner of the internet mostly frequented by socially awkward nerds, these were the apps you went to if you wanted to get yourself a date online in Zimbabwe. 😂

Finding someone to talk to and developing a romantic interest was considerably less complicated back then. You'd strike up a conversation with a complete stranger, exchange a few messages, and before you knew it, you had someone you genuinely looked forward to chatting with every evening.

There also seemed to be considerably less emphasis on what a guy brought to the table financially. You could win someone over with your humour, personality, conversation and general chemistry. Nobody was asking for your payslip before deciding whether you were worth getting to know. 😂

Have we become a little too transactional in modern dating, or am I looking at the past through rose-tinted glasses?

Need Advice First time at the guy I'm seeing's house, and he let me leave hungry. Am I overreacting?

Today was my first time going to the house of a guy (F23) I’m romantically involved with. We’d agreed beforehand that we’d chill at his house, eat and enjoy each other’s company.

I paid for my own InDrive there and back and spent 2 PM to 7 PM at his house. Despite us having talked about eating, he never offered me anything, and we didn’t eat at all.

At one point, my stomach started growling, he heard it and said something along the lines of, “do you want to go home now.” I eventually left, and he proceeded to order food AFTER I was gone.

I’m not expecting to be spoiled or have a man spend money on me constantly, but it was my first time at his house, and I feel like basic consideration matters. I would have appreciated even being asked if I was hungry. However he was very very sweet and romantic he helped me take off my shoes put away my jacket and was very respectful throughout

Am I wrong for being upset? Should I talk to him about it or my friends and family are saying I should end things with him?

UPDATE:
Guys 😭 Iwl, we talked, and he was genuinely sorry. He admitted he should have done better, explained that he was trying to keep things simple for our first meeting at his house and said he can be slow to understand certain situations
I appreciate that he took accountability instead of getting defensive. I still stand by how I felt, and actions will matter more than words

RANT/VENT Age +40 widowed, divorced or never married, is it still possible to find genuine partners?

I'm in my mid 40s & in an abusive 4 year relationship with a divorcee aged 46. I've stuck around because I genuinely love him & I'm just too tired of another talking stage which might not lead to anything concrete. The guy behaves like jongwe ravhurirwa cage- at any given time he's entertaining 5 or 6 women- shop assistants & street vendors are his favourites. He won't let me go. I'm still with him because he threatens me & attacks me whenever I leave or threaten to leave. I left Zimbabwe twice hoping to leave him for good but challenges(family & business)forced me to return.

It's so embarrassing to write this because I sound like I'm unable to put my needs first but the man is unhinged & might hurt my family members that's why I'm sticking around while I put together a solid plan to end this ugly relationship. I am okay financially but he interferes in my business because potentially I should be able to earn many times more than he does. He has a building construction business & makes decent money but he has nothing to show for his hard work because he has too many women to share the money with.

I've been to the police on several occasions but I think the CRLO office at ZRP needs to be manned by Psychologists and Psychiatrists because it's always, "Mave vanhu vakuru kana matadza kugadzirisana siyanai." Plus it's not easy to talk about GBV at these police stations. Their approach is rather too relaxed. We were also going for couples counselling & he attacked the counsellor. He will not introduce me to his family members( I've introduced him to mine) so I don't have anyone to approach concerning his wayward behaviour. I look at the effort I put in our relationship & feel very disappointed for allowing him to manipulate me to this extent.

I know someone reading this will think that I'm weak & it's easy to walk away. I'm so damaged emotionally & I don't think I can attach myself to any man ever again but then what will happen when I feel lonely? I really don't want to hookup for sex or meaningless dates.

Is it possible to save this relationship or i should leave the country again?

& please note that we don't stay together- I will not cohabit with him & he uses this as an excuse not to formalize our relationship.
